Solo advanced start not saving

I’m playing on PS5. Just been on DOA for the first time. I selected Solo, the went to solo first person advanced start. I assumed it would save my progress if i died. But it didn’t. I reached round 20 and died. Then when i went back on solo first person advanced start it put me back at round 1. So then i got to round 10 and deliberately died. Then tried again and it put me back at round 1. Am i doing it wrong? 
 

Edit: It did eventually save after closing down the application.
