Popular Post Destructor-8
Hello everyone! Welcome to my checklist where I plan on attempting & completing every hard racing game possible! I originally started this challenge a little over a year ago after I completed Trackmania, which is currently still my most proud platinum to date. I was super happy to finish it as I thought it wouldn't be a game that I would enjoy, however it was decent with a great challenge at the same time. I wanted another challenge to add as many hard racing games to my backlog & have since then finished a few more whilst also making decent progress in some other games. Introduction I have always been a racing fan right from when I played Super Mario Kart. I also played a lot of Burnout back then as well, which is where my passion for racing games continued. I still see Super Mario Kart & Burnout as my favourite games of all time. I'm a very competitive arcade racer so I have at times competed with & beaten the very best players in the world who have not only made me better but also made me appreciate the importance of practice & this has helped my skills develop even further. I'm also an all time top 100 Wipeout player & still hold many World Records from a long time ago. I did reach the top 100 on every track in the phantom speedlap category back before the leaderboards got wiped or went down. I've gone for specific World Records such as a Elite campaign speedrun where I finished it in the shortest time possible. This game is one of those where I originally didn't expect to complete it, however now it's actually the game I've completed the most times & still one of the best racing series out there. The Challenge I aim to complete every single hard racing game that's possible. I will only be listing the racing games that I feel were a decent challenge & are otherwise highly regarded by much of the community so if it's a tough racing game then it will most likely be featured here. The only games I won't be doing will be anything on the Vita (Wipeout 2048) or certain ps3 games such as the earlier NFS games. I don't have a Vita so I can't do Wipeout 2048 for example. The other big exception here is GT5 as first I never had it when it came out & also it's not obtainable anymore. I will be doing GT5 however since it's probably the most famous racing game as well as having some of the most infamous challenges possible, which is the Vettel challenges. I have access to all these on an anonymous account so I'm glad I can still attempt it. I have actually done two of the Vettel challenges so far but I saved the last one for this checklist. The goal is to have all of them completed. I will be sorting each game into different tiers based on difficulty which will be a combination of skill required, practice needed & time took to overcome said challenge. I'll also be rating the games based on the classic difficulty method of what I personally felt said game truly is since I think some of these games are very far apart, so hopefully this will also bring a bit of perspective of how hard these games are. I will also include the community rating for each game that is based on what I've seen & heard many people have thought each game was rated. This is also a combination of many friends & people that I know who have done these games to make it as accurate as possible. Outro I just wanted to also add that a lot of people here on this site & elsewhere has motivated me a lot. The following brilliant checklists have inspired me to finally make my own - @AJ_Radio, @Arcesius, @Baker, @Billie__227, @Cassylvania, @Copanele, @DrBloodmoney, @DrunkenEngineer, @ExistentialSolid, @KindaSabbath, @Platinum_Vice, @PlutoRico, @realm722, @rjkclarke, @Shrooba, @YaManSmevz Also thanks to the following for the tips & general chat in going for this - @Angus1343, @Alexgaara, @Blu3Angels_s, @CabDK, @DogFoRaw5, @Don_carlito94, @Eqill5, @FreshFromThaDeli, @Honor_Hand, @item112z, @KenjiCBZ, @LancashireLad87, @OverlordOfRacing, @PapyChampy, @SlimSanta94, @The_Kopite, @willmill97, @xZoneHunter, @xXBurniXx & anyone else who I might have talked to recently. Tier List (in order of difficulty/quality of completion) Tier 1 Tier 2 Tier 3 Tier 4 Tier 5 Future games yet to rate Tier List / Mini Reviews Tier 1 (10/10+ difficulty) Gran Turismo 5 Vettel Challenges (2/3 complete) Community rating - 10/10 Personal rating - 10/10 Enjoyment - 8/10 This is the most famous & infamous racing game on this list since the Vettel challenges are ridiculous time trials set by former F1 world champion Sebastien Vettel. I have been helping out to complete the special events whilst also having the chance to try & beat these challenges. The first thing I did when I went on GT5 was these events so this is the only part of the game that I've actually played so far, however I will eventually do the rest of the special events once these are done. The events are gold times set on Monza, Nurburgring & Suzuka whilst using the Red Bull X2010. I was able to do Monza within a few hrs on manual gears however it was definitely very tough to do as I got the the last corner many times but went off track, but eventually I had a successful run. I'm going to say this about Nurburgring though - as a single event this is the joint hardest racing event I've ever done (the other being Clear Ahead on Assetto), so I can only imagine what Suzuka will be like. I changed manual gears back to automatic, took stability completely off, lowered ABS & turned off all the HUD when I went for this properly. I eventually adapted my braking habits to get this done as I had to reduce the braking distance to make it possible so that I could get closer to the gold time. I had many attempts where I went off track on the last corner, however eventually I got to the level where I was able to consistently get gold time & almost did it twice in a row. I put in about 45hrs over few weeks on & off to get it done finally. I have since attempted Suzuka over a period of about a week & after 28hrs of practice I got to within 1.7secs of the gold time. This is the single most difficult challenge in any racing game that I have ever attempted. The problem is that it is very difficult to finish the event & even after 28hrs of attempts, I don't think I made it too many times. I think it will take a lot longer than 45hrs to gold Suzuka even whilst being only 1.7secs off. I think this will be by far the hardest thing that I ever do in a game & I don't think any future games will come close. I put in so many attempts that I now need a new controller since the shoulder buttons now stick a lot. This is the ultimate racing challenge & if I can do this then I would have done everything there is to do. Assetto Corsa (complete) Ultimate Edition (complete) Community rating - 10/10 Personal rating - 10/10 Enjoyment 7/10 This is one of the hardest racers overall due to the hotlap requirements & the sheer difficulty of the handling of each of the cars that you need to use. The thing is this game was made for wheel users so naturally using a DS4 will be harder as you need to adapt to precise steering whilst also finding the right setup for each car. This is the one game on this list that will require the most time to adapt to. I've passed one of the hardest hotlaps called Clear Ahead which takes place on Spa in a car that took so much time to get a proper handle on it. I'll update this more later when I get back to this game. Dirt Rally 2.0 Flatout DLC (in progress) Community rating - 10/10 Personal rating - 10/10 Enjoyment - 10/10 I'm currently in the middle of the Flatout DLC & I'm not even at the hard part yet but I have to say that this is the most enjoyable yet stressful experience I've had in a racer. The DLC requires you to take on events or stages on very hard difficulty in different cars over many locations. The hardest events require a high level of skill & mental fortitude since you need to be able to deal with very stressful 3min stages or up to 8-9mins of survival. The main thing with rally is that you must keep you minimum speed up over the course of a stage, whilst being used to throttle control & braking when needed as you have to manage the weight of your car. There's a lot of track knowledge as well so you have to remember every single detail of the track. This all combined is one of the hardest experiences I've ever seen in a racing game. I've had times where I've been 40secs off & thought that I really didn't want to go any faster, but you have to accept the fact that you actually have to go uncomfortably fast to even stand a chance. This is the one game that will push you more than almost any other out there whilst also being the most punishing game within the genre. If you can do this game then there really isn't many harder. Need For Speed Prestige DLC (complete) Community rating - 9-10/10 Personal rating - 9.5/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 This DLC was the most frustrating experience I ever had in any game ever. The requirements for gold were above most of what the community had done at the time so it requires specific cars to do this game. I did this DLC on release when setups were still being made for this & I did make this harder at the time by not having an optimal setting for the events, especially the drift ones as those usually take longer to get close to. It's really important to get it right since a good setup is extremely vital for this game. If there's any single mistake then it's most likely over, although there are some events where there is a little room for error even if it's not ideal. The races require a certain car otherwise it's not possible to make all the extremely tight times, so it's pretty much perfection that is needed. The thing that makes this trophy harder though is the random traffic & stupid AI since usually if one gets in your way, well it's over. I found the races generally easier than the drifts however with the combination of ridiculous scores or times needed to beat the events along with random traffic & stupid AI make this trophy quite infuriating. This is currently one of my most proud trophies to date. Tier 2 (8-9/10 difficulty) Trackmania 2020 (complete) All Region Stacks (complete) Community rating - 8-10/10 Personal rating - 9/10 Enjoyment - 8/10 review in progress Trackmania Turbo (complete) Community rating - 9-10/10 Personal rating - 9/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 The game that originally started off this challenge. I heard so much about this game going into it so I just had a go at it to see what I could do & surprisingly I found most of it quite an enjoyable challenge, except when the buggy would piss me off. The game is physics based so if something doesn't go right then you will get better with enough practice & eventually get quite consistent on it. The difficulty throughout the game is not always the same & whilst it might seem that it only gets harder, it in fact constantly changes. The later parts of the game are extremely brutal especially at first since the tracks get more complicated & longer in general however whilst that is true, the gold time requirements don't necessarily get tighter - meaning that it's more about survival rather than pure speed. I did get through most of this game quicker than I expected so the difficulty hit me later than usual, although I can still imagine what this game is like for most people. The majority of players don't make it to black valley, which is the outright hardest part of the game since the buggy is the most difficult car to master. The thing is though that a portion of black valley is relatively easy in comparison to the harder part, which requires more mental fortitude over pure skill so practice is the most important aspect of this game. I do think that black lagoon is overlooked a lot even though the hardest part of the game is done, this part of the game requires more skill in general since the car used here is quite sensitive at times. I always say to anyone that is doing this game - that once black lagoon is done, the game is done. This game is great for a challenge overall & personally pushed me to go for more. Assetto Corsa Competizione (complete) Community rating - N/A Personal rating - 9/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 review in progress Gran Turismo Sport (complete) Community rating - 9/10 Personal rating - 8.5/10 Enjoyment - 9.5/10 This game is an online focused racing game & the majority of the time is going to be spent on the online races (except for the level grind), so there are a lot of factors that will determine success in the races. The wins started off slow but after getting a really good pole time I was able to get up to 10 wins in a day. The pole time is definitely the most important thing that is needed when going for the wins & getting the required number is not easily achievable for most people. This is one of the highest effort racing games to finish & with the wins done there is a huge grind to finish off the game. Motorstorm: Pacific Rift (complete) Community rating - 8-9/10 Personal rating - 8/10 Enjoyment - 9.5/10 This game was brilliant & was one of the first tough games that I completed. The career, developer ghosts & online all meant that this was a high effort game to get done. The career was quite tough as you didn't really beat the AI by that much & there developer times were not easy as well & there were a lot of them. The online ranking system was based on performance & required many wins to get to the highest ranking. Dirt Rally (complete) Community rating - 8-9/10 Personal rating - 8/10 Enjoyment - 9/10 This was the first true racing sim that I completed & originally I didn't think I'd enjoy rally itself, however this game is brilliant & the sequel is even better. The championships were quite challenging & this is where I started using manual gears so it would benefit me for future racing sims. There are some very fast times that are needed however sometimes you get some manageable times making you wonder why you put in so much effort on the previous stage. This is a good challenge for a racing game & was worth doing. Radial-G: Racing Revolved (complete) Community rating - N/A Personal rating - 8/10 Enjoyment - 6/10 This is not a very well known anti gravity racer that easily has the hardest event in these types of games. The racing takes place on tubes within space & the speed at which you go is dependant on your ability to maintain that speed by using boost conservatively. You can only boost either by going over boost pads or converting your health into boost in order to keep going at a fast pace. The game starts off incredibly easy however it reaches a point in difficulty where you have to master the game mechanics whilst also racing flawlessly. The hardest event in the game is a hotlap that requires near perfection as well as fast reflexes & extreme precision. There isn't any rubber banding with the AI who are also ridiculously fast in the last few races & the thing with AI without rubber banding is that without perfection, the game is hardly achievable. The hotlap as mentioned earlier has been done by very few people. The game overall was alright however the difficulty is surprisingly high. Gran Turismo 6 Senna DLC (complete) Community rating - 7-8/10 Personal rating - 8/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 The Senna DLC is easily the toughest part of this game & I found it a lot harder than I expected. The difficulty is due to the nature of the car that you are using rather than the time requirement, which is in fact quite lenient in comparison to what time could be possible. The DLC is consists of a few events where you must beat a lap time set by Senna on a certain track in a particular car. Tier 3 (7/10+ difficulty) Dyad (complete) Community rating - 8-9/10 Personal rating - 8/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 This game isn't necessarily a racing game as it has a mixture of other genres involved such as puzzle, shooting & even rhythm at times. It's an incredibly unique game that requires you to either set a fast time, hit a certain score or perform an amount of actions in the time limit. The style is quite artistic & there isn't really another game on this list that is similar at all. Moto Racer 4 (complete) Community rating - 8-9/10 Personal rating - 7.5/10 Enjoyment - 8/10 This is probably the most difficult game on this list that isn't really well known. It's a short game overall that starts off quite easy however there are a number of events that are ridiculous to beat & require near perfection. To put it into perspective, there are at least two time trial events in this game that make something like Beat Zico look like nothing. The time is a little less tight but doing 3 laps in just over 3mins where you have maybe half a sec of leniency, you need to be almost perfect. This game is the hardest of any short racing game out there. Trailblazers (complete) Community rating - N/A Personal rating - 7.5/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 This is quite a unique racer as you race in anti gravity cars in many different events throughout the game that either involve challenges or classic championship races as you progress through the game. The unique aspect of this game is the fact that you can paint the track in order to create boosting paths for you or your teammates whilst being able to paint over rivals path to gain an advantage so you can win the race. The challenge comes from the fact that you must meet multiple requirements during a race in order to win the events & this can be quite difficult to do at times especially due to the huge luck factor that plays a part in this. This is the racer that requires the most luck of all since you need everything going your way whilst not making a mistake at all. It is a fun anti gravity racer that isn't too long of a game & has a very interesting concept that requires quite a bit of practice to get used to. Lightfield (complete) Community rating - N/A Personal rating - 7.5/10 Enjoyment - 9/10 This is a very unique indie racing game where you pilot a futuristic ship & either take on races or time trials for the fastest time possible. The unique thing about this game is that it's omni-directional meaning that you can go in every direction possible. The speed at which you go is dependant on whether you are on a surface or not so you want to be on a surface as much as you can. There are a few time trials in the game that must be beaten on pro difficulty & each one requires you to know the track as well as the fastest route on it. The hardest pro time trial requires quick reflexes & near perfect timing when performing tricks going between certain surfaces. The gameplay is absolutely brilliant & visually it looks amazing. The whole idea that this game is built around for a racing game is outstanding. Pacer (complete) Community rating - N/A Personal rating - 7.5/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 A Wipeout style racing game that isn't very known although pretty decent except for the grind that is involved. The later parts of this game are uncomfortably fast & even though there isn't really any ridiculous requirement, this game's difficulty is mainly due to the gameplay itself. I put this above Wipeout as I think this requires more of the player. Wipeout Omega Collection (complete) Community rating - 8-9/10 Personal rating - 7/10 Enjoyment - 10/10 This is one of my favourite games ever since it's basically multiple games in one. There's more content than the original which somewhat adds to the difficulty if not that much. I was able to redo Beat Zico within a few laps as I've done it many times before & whilst I took longer than the newer Beat Zico on the first time trying, there's some more room for error. I even did it twice in a row a few times so it's possible. I'm at the point with this game where there's maybe one of two events that I can't guarantee first try. Also some of those Zone events can be tough first time trying, along with the Elite campaign requiring more this time around. I even once did all those Class A+ challenges without realising that you only need one. If all the Class A+ challenges were required then this would be tougher to do. Wipeout HD (complete) Community rating - 8-9/10 Personal rating - 7/10 Enjoyment - 10/10 The original game that was one of the first hard game that I completed. I've gone back to this many times to speedrun it & I'm at the point where there isn't any difficulty on this anymore. I even did the Zone trophy with full health when I went for it. This is again arguably one of the most well known racing games to complete & whilst still a decent challenge for many people, there are many racing games way above this now. Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled (complete) Community rating - 8/10 Personal rating - 7/10 Enjoyment - 10/10 This is also one of my favourite games that I've played & it absolutely has the best replayability of any game on this list. The game is a good challenge as it requires you to learn the boost mechanics & master them as well as you can in order to do the Oxide time trials. The skill gap on this game is extremely high as the Oxide time trials are nothing when compared to the Velo or developer time trials, however there isn't a trophy required for those. If there was then this game would be near the top of this list as the Velo or developer time trials require near perfection to do, whilst also needing to fully take advantage of the advanced mechanics that are used by the top players in community. This is generally one of the most fun games to go for as there's always room for improvement & even though the game is still pretty hard, you've got the ability to go beyond what you think you are actually capable of doing. The game has huge replayability as well as being incredibly satisfying to play. Grip: Combat Racing (complete) Community rating - 7-8/10 Personal rating - 7/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 There isn't too many racers like this one around since you can pretty much drive up the walls & on the ceiling of the majority of the tracks. There are multiple routes that you can go as well as plenty of weapons which you can use. The campaign is pretty brutal throughout especially on the last few chapters since the speed & aggression is increased by a huge amount. Tier 4 (6/10+ difficulty) Gran Turismo 7 (complete) Community rating - 6-7/10 Personal rating - 6.5/10 Enjoyment - 8/10 The latest release of the iconic series has a lot to offer without requiring you to do too much in order to finish. It is not only the most doable game in the series due to the light requirements in comparison to the previous games but it's also the easiest one to get into if you aren't necessarily into racing games. There are some challenging events such as the licenses where you must beat a certain lap time on a track in a particular car. Driveclub (complete) Community rating - 6-7/10 Personal rating - 6.5/10 Enjoyment - 9.5/10 This was a really good quality game that had a lot of DLC content so it's a high effort racing game to get done. There are a few DLC events that can be quite tough at first, especially as those events are in the rain so there's less traction naturally when doing them. This is still one of the best quality games that I've played. Driveclub Bikes (complete) Community rating - 6-7/10 Personal rating - 6.5/10 Enjoyment - 9.5/10 This is pretty much an extension but with less events & focusing on bikes primarily as there is some car content, which didn't fit in the original game. There are a few events in this with pretty tight times especially one of the bikes ones. There's not as much to do in it but it's still not an easy game overall to do. It's still a very good game. ATV Drift & Tricks (complete) Community rating - 6/10 Personal rating - 6/10 Enjoyment - 8/10 This is a Moto Racer 4 spinoff that is pretty much a mini version of the same game except the hard part of the game is the developer hotlaps rather than the career itself. The difficulty is nowhere near the previous game although a few of the times are pretty tight so I wouldn't call this an easy game by any means. The boost mechanics within the game need to be mastered in order to make the times. It's a good fun game that is quite short whilst being a fun challenge at the same time. Offroad Racing (complete) Community rating - 6/10 Personal rating - 6/10 Enjoyment - 8/10 This is another Moto Racer 4 spinoff that is yet again a mini version of the full game that was released later & it has pretty much the same developer hotlaps as before, although this time there's a few more to do. The career is almost the same as the other game & the same tight times are in this one as well, so the boost mechanics need to be mastered yet again. It's just as short & as I said before there is a decent challenge in this one too. Mantis Burn Racing (DLC) (complete) Community rating - 6-7/10 Personal rating - 6/10 Enjoyment - 6/10 I thought this game was quite decent since it was something different for a change, but I need to mention that some of the events needed to get the DLC done were extremely infuriating to do. The majority of it was quite easy so more to do was just adding to the completion time overall. There were a few events that took quite a few tries to do, coupled with the fact that you needed to make sure that you were upgrading your vehicle properly in order to compete in the game. If you weren't upgrading the right way then your vehicle wouldn't perform very well. It was a decent game to play but one that wasn't as straight forward as many other games. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered (complete) Community rating - 6/10 Personal rating - 6/10 Enjoyment - 9/10 I didn't play the original however I was glad that I played this as it's quite highly regarded as one of the best NFS titles out there. I thought I would include this on the list since whilst it wasn't ridiculously hard, it was still a decent challenge so I wasn't winning every event really fast. The career is split into two different sections, which is racers & cops so you have the choice of where to start. I really enjoyed the racers part of the career & I've left one event so this game can be a milestone. I didn't find the cops too much fun, more frustration on some of the events which I think affected the overall enjoyment of the game. It was still a decent game to play though. Blur (complete) Community rating - 7-8/10 Personal rating - 6/10 Enjoyment - 9/10 I finished the online on this game quite recently & put in quite a bit of time, this game is really easy to play & a lot of fun. Modnation Racers (complete) Community rating - 6-7/10 Personal rating - 6/10 Enjoyment - 9/10 This was the first game on this list that I actually completed as when this game out it was a very fun kart racer where you could make your own character, kart or tracks, which was incredibly fun & satisfying since many players would make a well known character, whereas I just made made many tracks from different games. This was honestly a really enjoyable game & whilst it mostly a casual experience it wasn't exactly a short game due to the level trophies. There was also the requirement to get wins online, which always adds a bit of difficulty to a game. The online was quite fun though so that was an enjoyable part of the game. The level trophies did take quite a bit of time so that alone is worth mentioning this game. Tier 5 (5.5/10+ difficulty) Star Wars: Racer Revenge (complete) Community rating - 6-7/10 Personal rating - 5.5/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 I think this game deserves a mention since it's not considered an easy game & is still one that was worth going for. The game required multiple playthroughs before the time trials could be attempted since you needed a certain character in order to be fast enough. I was told about the time trials in this is not necessarily an easy game. It took a few hrs to get access to the character that is needed & whilst most of the times were pretty straight forward, there's at least two that are considered quite tough. I found the supposedly harder one took less time to do than the other but that was probably due to practice during the multiple playthroughs since a shorter track is easier to practice generally. The other one took quite a few attempts to do so I don't really consider this an average difficulty game, it's definitely just above average as a whole. Grid (2019) (DLC) (complete) Community rating - N/A Personal rating - 5.5/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 This is a pretty decent game even though there are other games out there that offer a lot more. The driving is a bit of a mix of simulation & arcade so different playstyles can be used in order to do it. The career is mainly just going through a lot of events with a certain car which is alright but can seem a bit too long for what it is. The extra events is where the difficulty is since you need to beat some lap times in the car provided & whilst this isn't exactly easy to do at first, it is doable regardless of the way you choose to play the game. Split/Second (complete) Community rating - 7/10 Personal rating - 5.5/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 I got this game quite recently having never played it when it came out although I had heard of what it was like. The game is focused around destruction as well using that carnage to either create new routes or take out your rivals ahead. I thought the game was pretty fun especially as it wasn't very long at all. I found it a lot easier than I expected considering the reputation that it had. The races were the most challenging part of the game rather than the time trials which actually seemed to be some of the easiest ones if you knew where to go. Redout (complete) Community rating - 4-7/10 Personal rating - 5.5/10 Enjoyment - 8/10 This is a decent anti gravity style racing game that's inspired by Wipeout itself but has completely different mechanics so plays somewhat differently. The game doesn't require you to do absolutely everything & is made a lot easier with upgrades to your ship, which allows you to have increased speed, acceleration, grip or shields in order to have an easier time. There's also the option to have perks that are either passive or situational based, therefore adding some different gameplay choices. The game is generally easy to play but very fast paced, which makes it quite enjoyable to play. The events range from easy to extremely hard although not all are required, which is why the game is not considered too hard. There is one platinum medal that is required & whilst it's not easy some events far easier than others in order to do this. The final tournament in the game was just as hard as the platinum medal as some of the races were much more difficult than others, although it depends on who is the most consistent during the tournament overall. This was a fun game that isn't very long so I would definitely recommend this. Table Top Racing: World Tour (DLC) (complete) Community rating - 6/10 Personal rating - 5.5/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 This is fun racer where you use miniature cars to do many different races, time trials, drifts & checkpoint events that are most of the time pretty easy although a few of these events can have pretty tight requirements & you can just barely make some of these due to this. The challenge used to just be in the DLC however one update made some of the main events just as hard as the DLC events, although since the game is very easy to play the challenge is not too high overall. It is quite a fun game & not too long so I would definitely recommend to try it out. Team Sonic Racing (complete) Community rating - 4-6/10 Personal rating - 5.5/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 I thought I'd include this game just about as whilst it's not really a hard game, I don't think it's exactly a straight forward game even though it's pretty fun. This game is based around you racing in teams in many different events throughout the game as well as providing some extra challenges as you progress, so there quite a few different things you have to do. I found a few of the events took quite a few attempts whether it was as other teams were doing better overall causing you to do it all over again or some extra challenges that required multiple attempts to know the best way to do each one. It's not a hard game like many on this list however I still think this is above most of the ones out there. All-Star Fruit Racing (complete) Community rating - 5-6/10 Personal rating - 5.5/10 Enjoyment - 7/10 This is a very short but decent kart racer which is quite a lot of fun. It's quite a casual game where your items are represented by different types of fruit that can also be combined in order to make more powerful items with unique uses. The mechanics are generally simple since you just drift for boost whilst using turbo pads to get a super boost for maximum speed. There are quite a few time trials in this where you have to do each track on different speeds for medals & whilst most of these are relatively easy, there are a few with some pretty tight times. rjkclarke
Great to see you've finally taken the plunge with this! I had a lot of fun reading through that - you've got such an impressive amount of dedication to these games. I didn't actually know Assetto Corsa was considered that difficult. I'm looking forward to reading about you tackling those Dirt Rally 2.0 and Vettel events in GT 5 - judging by that list, you'll have that dragon slain in no time!
Cassylvania
Looking good. These are actually my favorite kind of checklists to follow; ones that focus on a very specific kind of game or genre. It's neat to see someone's progress as they tackle a plethora of games in an area they're both knowledgeable and passionate about. I think it's a much healthier way to enjoy this hobby too, rather than trying to just build your trophy count all the time. It's sorta been a meme in my thread for years that I've wanted a racing game to play, but I don't know enough about the genre to find a good one. Maybe your reviews will help with that. Best of luck!
Honor_Hand
Always nice to see another racing bro on this site. Nice to see that you'll be keeping a checklist to organize and track all of your racing endeavors. I gotta say, you have some pretty darn amazing titles under your belt, and I see can see you fancy a good challenge. I'll be following your checklist closely. Stuff like this reminds me that I also have a checklist that I need to revive at some point, lol.

Arcesius
Hell yeah, glad to see that you finally took the plunge and put together a nice checklist! I like the Tier system and the quick reviews you've added to most games already! Nice job structuring this thing! Seems like you have found your own style for the checklist I expect you to share your progress on a regular basis though... I want to read some bitching about Flatout, I want to read some rants about the last Vettel challenge... And I'm also looking forward to read about your experience with some of the non-racers in your backlog! There are definitely some nice games waiting for you there ?
KindaSabbath
Yesssss bro! Finally!! I'm very excited about this one! I definitely want to try my hand at a few racing games. Maybe even build my way up to one of the notoriously difficult ones. I think I'm going to start with CTR. I have a couple of questions for you though my dude. Do you have a full racing set up? Or do you play with a pad? Are you going to be uploading videos of some of your immense runs? I think that would be dope. You have achieved some monumental feats in regards to the racing genre. Mad respect bro. I'm really looking forward to watching you tackle some of the none racing games, too! Obviously can't wait for you to destroy Fusion... Obviously. ? Angus1343
Hmm I noticed you have omitted motogp from this racing challenge. Surely it will be harder to finish all of those turds than dirt 2, assetto, gt5 etc. Regardless, good luck on besting these games. Looks like a fun challenge.

I appreciate the help in getting around to this! 17 hours ago, rjkclarke said: Great to see you've finally taken the plunge with this! Thanks, I really owe you for giving me that final push! It was great to just go ahead & get around to this as I've been thinking about making this for a long time now. Oh yeah that game is tough, I found out when I started it & I know how much it requires of the player. I think it has to be at the top since it's the one that seemed most out of reach so far. Yep, I'll be getting around to those games first so I have to decide which one I want to go back in the coming weeks. It's gonna be a tough time but worth it. 15 hours ago, Cassylvania said: Looking good. I know you have one of the longest running checklists on this site & have been trying to keep up with many of these on here, so I try to thoroughly go through each one to catch up. I really wanted to make one based on these types of games as I think it would be great to give people an insight on what to expect before going for one of these games. It's been great so far meeting more & more people on this site, which has only made me more motivated. I hope I can help even if it's a just tiny bit. I really appreciate the kinds words! 13 hours ago, Honor_Hand said: Always nice to see another racing bro on this site. I'm glad I got around to this as I've been thinking about it for quite awhile & you have really helped make me try something like this, so I'm thankful for that. I've been trying to get through a lot of these & at times I've been doing a few around the same time. I'm going to try to do as much as I can to get this done. There are definitely some nice games waiting for you there Yeah dude, I really wanted to make one after hanging around all the ones that you guys maintain, especially since quite a few of these look really appealing so I hope to make mine as good as I can. Yeah the tier thing is something I've been thinking about for awhile now, since as you know some of these games are not comparable with each other. I wasn't going to put Trackmania in that top tier since it's very far away from the hardest ones, however it's still one of the toughest to do so I thought I'd slot it just about in the top one. I do think that whilst Trackmania is harder than most, I've found some of those way above it. Yeah I will do my best at keeping this updated, as I think this will be a great place to share my experience since some of these are not very well known. I'm going to go back to one of those very soon so this thread will definitely be getting some exciting posts in the coming weeks. Yeah I wanted to mention the other games that I wanted to try or finish off that are considered difficult so I'm sure it will make this thread a bit more interesting in case anyone is interested in those extra games. 2 hours ago, KindaSabbath said: Yesssss bro! I'm going to try to make this one interesting & as I've said before, I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I really wanted to make one of these & recently being involved with you guys on here made me really go for this. I hope this will be useful as I want to make this as accurate as possible for people who read this. I said it above but I sorted these by tiers so it's easier to know what to expect & hopefully people find it easier to ease into the more difficult ones. I think separating the games into different tiers will also help people decide what to go for & what game is around the same difficulty regardless of the type of racer it is. I only use a controller so I don't & won't be using a wheel for any of these, since whilst it can help in the long run - I want to do these games at the absolute hardest. I usually play without traction control as well since it's faster but also more of a challenge since it will improve your skills a lot, especially as using a controller without traction control is as hard as it gets. I've put up a few videos above that a good selection of some of these best & most difficult things that I've overcome in any racer so far. I will also be putting future videos here that I'm sure you'll enjoy watching. Cheers again dude! I really appreciate it! I'm hoping to do more in the coming weeks. It was great that you did Trials Fusion yesterday & I'm sure when I get back to it that I'll find you guys ghosts very helpful when going for those times. It sounds like it was the perfect way to finish with those ghosts side by side. It sounded awesome. 2 hours ago, Angus1343 said: Hmm I noticed you have omitted motogp from this racing challenge. Yeah you never know, although if one is going to make it on here then it'll be Moto GP 19 lol. It's surprising as most of those games are generally easy so if Moto GP 19 is as challenging as people say it is then it might just about make it on here. 9 minutes ago, FreshFromThaDeli said: Another exciting checklist to peruse! Don_carlito94
Very nice checklist mate, it is quite a unique one since you’re one of the few who mainly focuses on a single genre, and I like how you put the games in difficulty tiers. Racing is a niche genre in gaming (arcade racers, simcades and pure sims), so your checklist could be an eye opener for folks who aren’t well versed in the genre and maybe some might find some of your games interesting ? May I suggest adding an enjoyment/fun factor rating for the games as well, but of course if your explanations are good enough I think it’s not too important. Just a friendly suggestion ? I’m a fan of your whole personal difficulty rating and community difficulty rating comparison - nice touch to it, did you borrow the community ratings from pst.org?

DrBloodmoney
This is looking poised to be an awesome checklist thread man - racing games are a definite blind-spot for me personally, but I love reading through threads like this one specifically because of that - it's always cool so see the passionate side of a sector of the hobby I don't necessarily understand well! Popular Post Destructor-8
Radial-G: Racing Revolved (Tier 2) Community rating - N/A Personal rating - 8/10 Enjoyment - 6/10 I'm just going to post a few things in case anyone goes for this game, although it's not very popular on this site & a lot tougher than I expected. It's pretty short, probably the shortest racer I've played. The thing is whilst most of the game is quite easy, there a few events that are insanely difficult & I don't really know how I did the last one. The game is all about maintaining speed through the use of boost that is converted via your ship shields & boost pads that are plentiful. There are also many gates that you can go into that will take your speed away & this can be really annoying especially if on a good run. There isn't any rubber banding with the AI & whilst most of the time not having rubber banding is a good thing, it's not on a game like this since the AI can get ahead whilst racing to perfection. The game requires it to be mastered eventually for the hardest events, which are a hotlap & the final boss race. The game also looks a lot better than it does in the videos just to mention lol. This is one of my attempts on the hotlap, which is the hardest thing in the game. I almost got it on this run & it was a pretty good one, but as you can see I made a mistake right at the finish. Spoiler This is the successful run that hardly anyone out of a few thousand were able to do. You need to be very close to the world record to do this. The main thing is to really conserve your boost & only use it at the right time whilst trying to get through the gates perfectly. Spoiler This is the final boss race & I don't really know how I did it except for getting really lucky on it. You just have to hit every boost pad you can & avoid the gates, although I didn't manage to do this consistently. I got really lucky with the gates on the last part so this is one is definitely tough. Spoiler I was able to also get a world record on the first lap in the videos as a nice bonus. This is how you grind XP when everything else in the game is done & it's the fastest way to grind XP in general. It was nice to get this world record lap considering a few thousand people played this. Spoiler The game overall was alright & as I mentioned earlier it looks a bit better than the videos show. If anyone does game this in the future then I hope this will be of some help, otherwise I'm happy to help out although a few people on this site have already given some great advice.
