wackt1
Out of curiosity, why does the mastery level go up to 15 only instead of 20? Is it something to do with the challenges or the size of the map? Because it seems that its the only level/map with a max mastery level of 15 other than New York Edited September 23, 2021 by wackt1
Deceptrox
Good question. Maybe because the map is not as big as other maps. In Hitman 3, they changed it to 20.
DrBloodmoney
This is just conjecture, but IO did mention Whittleton Creek specifically, as a level that was significantly affected by the downscaling of the game they were required to do when they had the huge round of employee layoffs after Square sold them - that is documented in the Fall and Rise of Hitman documentary by NoClip. It stand to reason that maybe the mastery levels were planned to be tied to parts that ended up being cut out, and it maybe was simpler to reduce the final level to 15, rather than try to redo the whole structure to meet the usual 20 levels? As @Deceptrox says, they did re-frame the challenges in Hitman 3 to suit 20 levels - though at that point, they would have had more time to do it - so perhaps the 15 level structure was just the best ‘quick fix’ at the time?
