Need help finding new JRPGs and RPGs in general.

I don't know where my head is when I don't recommend the SaGa series. They are remakes of SNES games. By SquareSoft, in the SNES era, yes, some of their good parts. But it's way more difficult, and be wary of this I guess. It's very open world, multiple different story paths, permanent deaths etc. First few games were actually called Final Fantasy in the west.

Also, be amazed by the battle OSTs

This one might have better battle OSTs than any FF game. Also, it's a PS1 remaster.

There's of course The Banner Saga, if you're into TRPG, but these can be a bit much when going for 100%:

This is actually quite a bit like Souls, was PS+ earlier this year:

Probably heard about it, but it's decent fun, quite short, and built on the Rayman engine:
https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/2578-child-of-light/

Another PS+ game, this one is more metroidvania:
https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/3321-apotheon/

You also got the Ys games, usually quite inspired by dungeon crawling:

Oh, and another souls-clone:

There's so many more, and these are more known I guess? I gotta eat now :) so can maybe list some more later.

I recently got into the Saga franchise, I'm currently playing Saga 3 and I'm loving it it's like Final Fantasy but not really it's unique enough to be its own thing, I just bought Scarlet Saga it seems really good, will check the other games you mentioned do you know any other games like Shadow Tactics?

I always wanted to try Yakuza I remember playing it on PS2 and really enjoying it, the only reason I haven't played on PS4 it's the sheer amount of games I don't even know where to start, how should I approach the franchise? I can buy the ps4 games just fine since they are pretty cheap and are on sale often

I don't have any in my trophy list, since I play them on another account, but I'm currently working on the Yakuza series.  I would say either start with Like a Dragon, which is a 'fresh' story (I believe, don't have that one yet) or start with 0.  Yakuza 0 is considered one of the best, I believe, but is also referenced in Kiwami 1 and 2 if you want to continue on with the story.  Basically they go numerically with Kiwami 1 and 2 replacing the original 1 and 2.  Think of them like remasters.  Then it's 3, 4, 5, etc.

Oh I see so Kiwami is a remaster of sorts, buying all at once would be bit overkill so I'll grab 0 and Kiwami 1 and 2 and take from there, thanks for clarifying.

Ya, basically.  Since the old ones were...well, old.  And no problem!  They are, FYI, hard to plat.   You gotta have a lot of patience but they are really fun games.

Hack GU I have a weird relationship haha I like the game but Jesus Christ Haseo aggravates me so much I couldn't keep past the first game, he's so edgy, annoying amd unlikable, sorry about the rant

Haseo grows into a really good character by the end but episode 1 he's pretty much the same. Once Alkaid is introduced he starts growing past that.

Haha yeah I heard about it, there's some majong involved in one of them or all iirc and I really suck at it so it will definitely be a journey.

I highly recommend Dragon Quest XI and Final Fantasy X & X-2 (my personal favorite in the series is X and of course you have to play the sequel). FF VII and it's Remake are another good combo to play.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon - this one is on my to get list. My friend highly recommended it especially because of the Dragon Quest vibes it has and like myself he has never played any of the other Yakuza games.

Any kind actually I wrote more.obscure just because the more popular ones I got almost all of them, would love some advice on RTS games like Blades of the Shogun and Tactical RPGs like God Wars, I only know these I mentioned.

Actually, if you're into tactics, I'd HIGHLY suggest 13 Sentinels. Brilliant VanillaWare game.

I already platinum all the above but thanks very much for the tips, I'll check the Yakuza games now that I know where to start, thanks again.

I love the Mana franchise I bought Legend of Mana but didn't get around playing it yet been really busy with work these days, regarding Secret Of Mana I read that even after the patches it's still buggy and crashy so I didn't buy it yet but I do love the original.

I heard that as well but personally i didnt have any problems,

I will be picking Legend of Mana up from the sale this month

You won’t get lost, some of the games are based off the Light Novels, Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet is based off of Gun Gale Online.

Lemme ask you one question the first game RE hollow fragment for PS4 do I need PS plus for the multiplayer trophies? Or just an online connection? Apparently there's some differences between the Vita and PS4 versions, thanks for replying and sorry about all the questions.

No, the online mode can be done offline

Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is back on sale now. It's a souls-like game, top-down, pixelated. Not played it yet, but looks great.

CrossCode, imagine if top-down 2D Zelda was an RPG...

https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/10938-crosscode

Imagine if Skyrim was more realistic in terms of pretty much everything, but is way slower.

Quite a lot of people like this game a lot, but I thought it was just okay, and nothing too special, though it is somewhat different in it's execution of the genre I guess. It was PS+ game long ago, if so, it's a free game for you and not a bad experience. Not overly long either, stops before it overstays it's welcome, I'd say.

I've never truly gotten into it, yet anyway, but a lot of people love this game. From what I've played, it felt too luck based, but it probably is fine once you get into it.
