I was given a copy of the game and I wanna know Is it online only like mmo style where I have to play with others or like hitman where i can play alone?

You can play by yourself with NPC partners. If you rather play with other people, you can play everything online, except for the main campaing.

It's online only but you can do everything solo, though playing with friends will make it less boring. Do note though, that the buggy trophies were never fixed and the only solution in some cases is to start over from scratch if they refuse to pop. Also note that the devs recently nerfed the XP you can earn so levelling up is now a massive slog by all accounts.

Be prepared though, the trophies can be glitchy, but I am told if you play offline solo you may avoid headaches the rest of us deal with.

Unless something has recently changed that I'm unaware of, this game is still 100% online only but you can play solo without ever entering matchmaking or otherwise playing with real people.

Not offline offline, you have to be connected to the games servers like hitman, but you can play it all solo with AI.

Regardless of being an always online game, you can and should play it solo/singleplayer by switching off matchmaking.

 

This is the best way to avoid screwing up trophy tracking. It's how I did it and had zero problems getting the plat.

 

Just beware: going for the platinum involves a huge grind after completing the campaign.
