Floorkiller74
It's very, very rare for me to buy a game at full price, However the one that stands out was my preorder COD Cold War on XB1 (The super deluxe edition). I didn't touch it much early on, but I did another thing I never do...bought a battle pass. Soon after, the game quit working. It told me I needed to purchase the game to play it. An online search indicated I was far from the only person to have the problem, I found dozens of complaints about the game trying to charge you again to play it. Activision did fix the issue, literally the day after the battle pass expired. It works now, and I enjoy the game, but Activision indifference to the situation cost them a sale of Vanguard. MarcusPunisher
The most recent ones would be Resident Evil 3 Remake and Mortal Kombat 11 RE 3 felt I payed full price for half a game that felt short and unfinished. The multiplayer in it add no value whatsoever so I felt ashamed for paying a full price. MK 11 was the most disappointing game of 2019 for me and it convinced me not to buy any MK games on day one nor anything from Netherrealm for that matter. Thomas-R_82
It wasn't a playstation title but one for the wii, an apparent fps killer title called the conduit. Promised so much from developers and given so little on release I never was under the impression it would meet heights of ps3/360 titles but didn't think it would be so bad either, I took it back for a refund (and so did many others from a wii forum I was on) didn't even need to argue with the staff about why.. he told me I was the first of many. willmill97
Even though the first one is one of my all time favourite games, I'd have to say LBP3. It really wasn't that great and it's a huge shame that's the last traditional side scrolling LBP game we ever got.
Cassylvania
Pretty much every Pokemon game after gen 1. I don't know why I keep getting my hopes up. I rarely play them for more than an hour. I don't have that issue with PS4 games since I can just wait for a sale, but Nintendo doesn't know what those are.
Evil_Joker88
There are two games that come to my mind: Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (PS2) and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistance (PS2). I really liked GTA Vice City so when a sequel came i was eager to get it and bought it for full price, the first game ever bought at a high pric, and in comparison to VC the story of SA disappointed me. I still played it like 5 times but it left a sour taste in my mouth... For MGS it's very different as i picked that up without much thinking, i played it and it didn't feel great but just a week later i saw it for 10€ and it felt like a slap in my face. 10€ was a price hardly seen for any (ps2) game back then and it showed commercial failure at me and i wished i had waited a few days to buy this game... i only finished it once....
Eraezr
Just these two- Final Fantasy XV (digital) Destiny (physical) Also I didn't buy Trails of Cold Steel IV at full price - it was more like $40-50-something but seeing the number of asspulls the writers shat out in IV, I'd say the game is more worth $15. There are other parts of the game that seem rushed. Needed at least another 2 years of development time. Edited November 8, 2021 by Eraezr
JAK-KRIEG
I pre-ordered cyberpunk 2077 played it on PS5 and it was a bug ridden mess. When I was driving it was worst, the game would blue screen often I had to be careful going full speed as the game would crash a bloody nightmare. Got a full refund thankfully. EMShotgun123
Nobody should pay more than 5 bucks for Doom VFR, let alone the asking 30 like I did. The game should've been excellent in theory, instead you're left to struggle with 2 of its 3 control schemes: the PS Move doesn't let you turn more than 180 degrees at a time, no smooth turning at all, and the Aim controller desyncronizes with your in game gun when you move. In a DOOM game! You're left to play with the normal ass Dualshock 4, which does not do the game justice. You're basically playing some of the more tame arenas from Doom 2016 but aiming with your head instead of the right stick, that's super lame. Going to the classic levels in VR is dope tho, shame there's only a handful of them and it still has the wack weapon balancing from 2016 so the basic zombiemen are just tanks and you've to rely on the pistol a lot. Willreaper41
The order 1886, not only did I beat it but I got the plat almost in a single afternoon while still high as f after a heavy duty dental surgery. Not only did it fail to meet any of the hype and promised bits like werewolves and such it was just easy and dumb as hell.
Katt
Superbeat Xonic for Vita. Trash gameplay, horribly optimized, no multiplayer, the background animations caused me headaches without the ability to turn them off, cool soundtrack tho. I grabbed the game for PS4 later for just $6 lol
Karnacharya
Street Fighter IV, not because it was a bad game (it was fine), but because it made me realize that playing Street Fighter in the twenty-first century means having to interact with the online Street Fighter community, which is toxic trash.
-SK
ARK: Survival Evolved. I purchased the explorer edition for like 80 bucks back when it was new, because all my friends recommended the game to me and they said it's one of the best games ever. Guess what... I've only been playing it for 10 hours and never played it again as it's just super boring to me
DeadlyPerfume
Amnesia: Rebirth. I very rarely buy games at release, but Frictional's previous titles were all some of my favorites. I did not know the writer responsible for Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Soma left before Rebirth, and man it shows. Terrible pacing that wrests control of the camera to show you flashbacks every three steps, terrible bland enemy designs that don't make use of the abundant folklore and mythology of the region, literal .png jumpscare spooky faces circa early 2000's flash games if you remain in the dark for 2 seconds, and a main character that never shuts the hell up and lets you get immersed in the horror to the extent she yells "RUN!" out loud to no one in case you didn't infer you should run away from the monsters and not just stand there waiting for them to eat your face. And to top it all off the devs went on to say in interviews that the mixed reception of the game and lack of attachment to the Press X To Check Your Baby mechanic was due to players just being too stupid to "get it." ?

StraightVege
Honestly, I regret darn near everything I've paid full price for. Wasted far too much money before becoming budget-conscious, so I rarely pay more than $20 per game now. One of the biggest was Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Limited Edition, which was the last game I ever pre-ordered. Ended up being my least favorite entry in the series.

ExHaseo
I rarely buy games at full price, so I don't have this problem very often, but there is one that comes to mind. Persona 5 Strikers. A warriors style game set in the Persona universe sounded amazing. I love both of those things, and the warriors spinoffs on existing franchises are generally my favorites (like DW Gundam 3 and Hyrule Warriors). It seemed like there's no way it could be bad, but the game is more of a weird hybrid of some warriors elements and some normal Persona mechanics, and it doesn't work very well. It doesn't have the scope and turn off your brain fun of warriors games, but it doesn't feel tactical and calculated like a Persona game either. The combat just boiled down to running around and mashing a skill an enemy is weak to until you can do an all out attack, then rinse and repeat until the enemy is dead. Which works for a turn based system like in the actual Persona games, but doesn't work very well for an action game. To make things worse, when you run out of MP you have to go back to the entrance just to leave and reenter the dungeon to heal back up. It just felt tedious and wasn't very fun. They also removed the social link aspect of Persona, so combat is primarily all there is outside of segments in the real world where you just walk back and forth to talk to specific people. I don't think it's worth more than maybe $20. And even then, only if you have an attachment to the series and want to see the story. It's definitely not worth the full price I paid for it. Jupiter
It's not uncommon that I'll see a game I paid full price for on sale for cheap and I'll go "god damn i payed 60 for this?" It's almost always better to wait.
guccimental
Deathloop. Horribly boring, soulless game IMO. Gave it 5 hours and sold it the day after I bought it. This was the only time I have done this.
