Godfall, Mortal Shell, LEGO DC Super Villains are December's PS+ Games

Ugg bad month for me. I own lego and shell already. And godfall? just a another moba junk game to fish money from player.

Pretty ok month for me, while none of those 3 are something I want to play asap, I like souls-like games, and I heard some good things about Mortal Shell. I never played a lego game, but I might give this one a try, it looks like it could be fun. As for Godfall...I am just gonna skip this one.

Looks like a good lineup. Not sure why the stick for Godfall, it looks great unlike the 2d platformers that seem to be worshipped. Mortal Shell seems decent as well. I'll skip Lego although my 8 year old might be down for it

I mostly agree. Although the Ninja Lego game was actually quite fun lol.

 

Already own Godfall on ps5, got it for $30 using a best buy gift card I was gifted (so not to upset that it’s plus already.)

The other game doesn’t really look like my thing though, we will see I guess.

unsure if I’ll try this Lego game or not…

ive unfortunately had Godfall Ascended Edition since launch. never played. But paid full price... canadian. Ps5 launch window was sad lol

Bought Godfall for full price. Never played it... Just never had time. Already have a backlog of PS5 games already. Future not looking good lol

 

Should play it while it's popular. Who knows.

I really, REALLY, enjoyed Godfall... and still casually play when I get in the mood to hack and slash some loot. Mortal Shell has always been that "eventually" game for me. Lego is meh, but I like Villains so I'll put it in the backlog.. deep in there.

I had a good feeling that Godfall would be a PS+ game. Wasn’t expecting it this year. I have Mortal Shell, but the rest I don’t. One of the best months of plus this year and a good way to end 2021.

I was about to ask if we didn't get Mortal Shells already, but I mistaken it with Remnant ?, these souls games get all mixed up for me.

 

Godfall from the reviews looked like the most basic game ever with mixed reviews and crappy microtransactions.

 

At least they dumped the latest Lego game. That one could be fun, but it also needs DLC. 

Oh well, I'm keeping low expectations with PS Plus games so I can't say I'm disappointed. ?

Lego DC Super-Villains is likely the only freebie I'll grab this month, and $14.99 for the season pass isn't too incredibly terrible.

I mean, graphics aren’t everything at all. And those 2D platformers have so many fans for a reason.

It’s not rocket science man. Graphics have absolutely nothing to do with the quality of a game or how fun it is to play. The reason a lot of these 2D platformers released in recent years are revered are simply because they are fantastic games.
 

Take Godfall for example. It’s a big budget game and looks incredible from a graphical standpoint, but the mediocre reception is because it has been criticized by many people for being a rather empty, grindy/repetitive experience and for having a really bland story (haven’t played it myself so I have no opinion - I am hoping to try it if it comes to PS+).
 

Then compare that game to a revolutionary game like Hollow Knight, a 2D platformer that has an incredible amount of depth and has become the crown jewel of the metroidvania genre and the bar for which all other metroidvanias will be measured by. Or a game like Celeste, a 2D precision platformer which has a pixel art style that literally looks like it belongs on a Super Nintendo from 25 years ago, but has been universally praised for being one of the most clever and challenging platformers ever, while also managing to tell an important story with significant emotional depth.

 

Graphics don’t mean shit. There are so many more elements which determine the quality of a game, and I’d say graphics are arguably the least important of them all.
