Platinum Difficulty Challenge 2022 (CLOSED)

I decided to revise the list since I know that half of the year is over so I won't have much time to do a lot of grinding thanks to doing two other events(Gaming by Numbers 2022 and the Fall Backlog Challenge 2022 which I need to revise too) so I decided on only doing up to Difficulty 7(mainly because all of the 8-10 difficulty ones would take too long for me):

 

1/10: Donut County
2/10: Ape Escape
3/10: Wild Arms
4/10: SaGa Frontier Remastered
5/10: Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
6/10: Dragon Quest Heroes II
7/10: Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories

 

Will probably do [1] first because I found out that i have one platinum short of 35 platinums after my next two games.

 

EDIT: Just completed Donut County for the first of my list. (I was tempted to do Mugen Souls since it's a 9/10 but I don't feel like streaming a game I will never finish.

My gaming goals don't align with completing another list this year, but fingers crossed this event continues indefinitely. Anyone know of a 1/10 game to plat that you consider a masterpiece? My initial plan is to go for Oxenfree, but I wanna keep options open in case I stumble upon something special.

...and are among the best games I've played this year.

 

I'd also say The Longest Road on Earth is worth a look - I don't see any site giving it a difficulty rating yet, but it will be a guaranteed 1/10 for any site that does, and is also a fantastic experience.

Holy hell, how could I forget The Artful Escape, it's been on my radar for a while and god knows I could use a chill game to ease my nerves with after I'm done with nightmare mode in Doom 2.

Sadly it's a 2, not a 1. I got it past week and wanted to include it as my 1 but after googling several sites they all seem to agree that it is too hard for a 1 despite being as easy as a Telltale plat, with only 1/3 the duration. Ridiculous. In fact, platprices considers it a 3! WTF?

 

Just like you I also struggle to find appealing 1's. Like the guy above said, Doki Doki Literature Club is a great indie so if you haven't played that one, go for it. I already played it on PC (free over there) so I don't feel like buying it just for the trophies. Although I might do it just to support Salvato. Oh and if you play this get ready to get the biggest, catchiest of all earworms, lol.

 

As for me: Life is Strange, Oxenfree (good), Donut County (good), The Wolf Amongus, Tales From the Borderlands, The Walking Dead (good), GoT and Batman Telltale are all done and I'm sick of Telltale despite loving TWD1 so no more TellTale for me so I guess my only choice is to Ratalaika my ass. At least those are over quick.

 

OH RIGHT you can try Telling Lies, I used that one for my first list, it's a good bizarre "game" (very little gameplay). Just a heads up, you need to be good at Solitaire for one trophy, lol. There's a reason why TL is only in the 60's despite being a 1. Luckily I'm good at Solitaire so I blitzed through it.

It's a 2 (or even a 3) everywhere, sadly (platprices, psnprofiles, playstationtrophies, platget, xboxachievements). So many cases of obvious 1's that for some reason are given 2's or even 3's. Don't be surprised if Longest Road also gets only 2's and 3's. Those shitty, cheap big tits anime pachinko / poker / solitaire games you always see on sale for like 2 dollars are also obvious 1's, but yup, nothing but 2's. In that case, I'd definitely recommend Doki Doki or Telling Lies - both great IMO.

 

With The Longest Road on Earth though, there's simply no world in which it could ever get more than a 1/10. The game is excellent, but only the length of a music album, and it's literally impossible to finish it without the platinum. ?

 

That said... there's some good Ratalaika's out there, so perfectly worth looking in that direction for anyone having a rough time finding a 1/10. ?

Hey there. You are only added to the Leaderboards after you complete 7+ games. You're entered automatically just by posting so you're good to go Good pick on Donut County, best 1/10 imo. 

Also, you can do the games you listed if you want, but also any game that you platinum'd in the year 2022 counts, which in your case is all of your platinums lol. So if you want to be further along just look at your games and see what ratings you can cross off from the beginning.

Had a look through some lists on here and noticed Bayonetta was used as a 9 in a few lists. I've always wanted to play it so decided to put it into my challenge. Not quite sure how it got rated a 9 on Plat Prices (perhaps got muddled up with Vanquish) but I'll certainly take it. 

 

Either way, that's the event done for me for now. I may do a second list in time, but feeling a bit burnt out of trophy hunting so will likely take a break for a little while. Thanks @Rebourne07 for creating this event and keeping track of everything!

Also, pretty sure Plat Prices sets its difficulty based on initial values when the game first comes out then as exploits are found other sites lower their ratings but PlatPrices never changes once set.

Aaaaand it looks like Splasher is being replaced too on the 9/10 spot now.

 

I finally managed to get through the dreaded Nightmare coop mode in Doom II and I gotta say: if Doom 1's nightmare mode was bs, Doom II was bs with extra farts on top.

The amount of star aligning luck to get through most of the levels is bonkers insane and the infamous level 29 was the worst of them all, had to buy a new player 2 controller (if anyone recalls I broke my other one (by accident) doing the nightmare run in Doom 1) just to change up tactics on that level and even then it almost made zero to no difference at all.

Glad this one is over... Gonna play some Hades to relax myself after this.
