The Ultra Rare Cleanup 2022

Hiya!

 

A bit late to the party here, but I love me some URs and noticed a couple of my friends in this event, so I thought I'd finally join the fun. Here's my Tier 1 list:

 

 

Hopefully I understood the rules correctly and all those games are eligible. I tried to pick a decent mixture of platforms, genres, and unstarted/started games. Action Henk is my only priority here since it's on the Most Wanted list. Other than that, it's whatever game I feel like playing at the time, especially since I've already obtained the online trophies in the other games that have them.

Sorry, Atari Flashbacks doesn't count anymore, it was completed a while ago.

Making a few swaps, I'll probably not finish Resogun, Hustle Kings and Mafia 2 soon, so will replace them with Override, Magicka 2 and Tetraminos, the last one which I have just completed.

It's a decent Tetris clone with the difference being that there's also some smaller and larger pieces that drop down. I didn't care for these in normal gameplay, but they did make the puzzles more fun. Endless and Challenge mode were slightly annoying due to the game being a bit clunky (inputs register a bit slow) and the game freezing a few times, but luckily the trophies don't ask for too much, so in the end it wasn't much of an issue. Overall a pretty easy completion.

 

In other news, I've finished the first DLC of GTA 4, which took some getting used to going back to such an old game, but it's still pretty fun. Will do the second, and harder, DLC next month probably.

I've also made some decent progress in N++, but still not on the halfway point, there's just an obscene amount of levels in this game, so it will probably take a while till I'm done. I haven't gotten to the actually challenging levels either, so curious to see how I'll fare in those.

So, the rule is this one:

1. You must first sign up the game before completing it. You cannot complete the game and register it at a later date. 

As an exception, you can do the sign up at most 24 hours after getting the platinum, that's the "buffer" interval, for instance if you grind a game over night with a turbo controller, get the platinum and the game is not signed up, you have 24 hours from the moment the platinum pops to register it into your list. If more than 24 hours pass, the game is not eligible anymore.

Just FYI, you can have 10 games per tier this year, and there are free swaps, so declare them even if you are not sure you will play them.

 

That way you won't miss out on a point like you have with Atari Flashback.

Upload to an image sharing site like imgur, then just copy the direct image url into your post and it will auto embed it.

As some of you might know I have a checklist so I’ve written something about this game there. I don’t want to type it again as it takes 30 min. to do on my phone. ? But to sum it up real quick:

 

An obscure rogue-lite tactical FPS with awesome cell shaded graphics that could have been a lot of fun but was ruined by a terrible trophy list.

Nex Machina is complete and what a superb game it was. I initially had some reservations against it but the more I played, the more it grew on me. It's a straight-up arcade game in a similar vein to old classics of the Robotron variety (if you're familiar with that one) but with a much modern design and bullet hell elements incorporated into it. Parts of the reservations I had came from the fact that I started this game immediately after playing Dead Nation, and while I'm still biased towards Dead Nation for being a much more enjoyable twin-stick shooter, I've got to reckon Nex Machina is just as great on what it sets out to do. And man, the soundtrack in it is so sick, love it.

 

Anyways, I'll be talking more about it once I can cook up my thoughts on it properly through a status update sometime during this week. In the meantime, I just wanted to announce here that the game is now complete.

 

 

The next game I'm going to be working on for this event will most likely be Quantum Jank-- I mean, Quantum Theory. I know it's kind of a lesser quality clone of the Gears of War formula from back in the day but I'm still hoping the single-player campaign will at least prove enjoyable to some extent. I'll play that one and maybe either go back to Blazblue CSE on the PS3 or start with Baja: Edge of Control HD on my PS4, whichever my mood fancies the most I guess.

very hard is incredibly asinine at a few points, most notably the final chapter since you die in one shot basically, also the whole weapons having tiers of quality shit + shop/money in general is just weird and doesnt really add alot in my opinion, still okay though

Glad I joined this when I did so that Skater XL would count. I’ve played a lot of over the past year but there is only one trophy that makes it UR.

 

I would recommend this game for those who liked playing any of the EA Skate games past just going through the story and challenges. Otherwise, I could see it being boring for some.

 

Also, can’t seem to get the little platinum image to stay next to it, so if anybody could help me with that I would appreciate it.

What a great day. Two more games completed both aren't great but who cares ?

 

Zeno Clash II is an action game hardly anybody cared about i read. Story was weird, i didn't understand it, but i haven't played the original game and only after completing the story plus all side content i started the tutorial which is also a summary of the original game's story but that doesn't help much either ? the biggest problem i have is PS NOW though. I streamed the game to my pc and it lagged a lot. Doing a few combo hits in the tutorial and then a 6 hit combo on a giant crab were really stressful.

 

Besides that i got the of Laser League and i did boost all of it. No fun just reward looking boring as hell. But one of the rarest i have now   I played a few matches but wasn't able to win against the AI at all...

Finished Hyper Void and Hyper Light Drifter. 

 

Got the "800 Dash Eternal" trophy on my first try after remapping the playstation buttons. I changed the X button with the R1 button. The "Die 1000 times" trophy was unnecessary too but other than that a great game which I can highly recommend.

I am not sure I understand how FF14 works sadly. Normally auto-pop is not allowed in this event if, say, you do the PS4 list and then you auto-pop the PS5 list. Could you tell me in more detail how FF14 "sub" works?

Sorry I know next to nothing about MMOs and how platinums work there ?

alright I'll try my best   for ff14 you can get the demo for free think it has one of the dlcs but anyways you can play the demo for unlimited time and earn all the trophies or the requirements for the trophies once you pay for the sub you can earn those trophies but you'll still have to fulfill the requirements to pop trophies  so if you log one item you'll pop log 1 item and then log 1000 items at the same time hopefully that make sense . The game takes about 6months to plat unless something changed so I wouldn't sub until after the 6months to finish up game

Oh ok, so if I got this thing correct:

• you play the demo, fulfill the trophy requirements (collect 1000 final fantasy swords - best description I could think of  ) but the trophy itself won't pop.
• "Convert" the demo into a full game with a paid subscription.
• Turn in the items to make the trophy pop.

If that's the procedure, sure. As long as you haven't platinumed another version of Final Fantasy 14 before and you are just autopopping a second version, it is fine by me
