The Ultra Rare Cleanup 2022

So i've just completed Skyrim VR, which is the second game on my list. That makes 4/4 stacks of Skyrim 100% complete for me and surprisingly the VR version was by far the most stable version of the game for me  I ran into very few glitches or game breaking bugs while running through it and the glitches that I did encounter were caused by myself trying to skip certain parts of the game to beat it faster. Skyrim on PS5 looks gorgeous and feels great but despite that this was the definitive version of the game for me, it was definitely a very interesting way to experience a classic and it really works for VR, the combat in particular feels way more engaging. If you're new to Skyrim I actually recommend this version.

Well its already February, but finally i've finished some Games for this Event.

4 Games off the List:

 

It was a typical walking simulator, with some horror here and there, nothing special.

I knew the original from back in the Days, so I knew what to expect. In the End i played through this Game a total of 8 times, because i was so dumb and started one stack on an alt Account and it was only at the end that i realized it..

 

 

As many others i tried to finished this Battle-Royale Rip Off before the Server Shutdown. The Game itself felt like a vetical Mix off Apex, Overwatch and maybe Fortnite..overall it was okay, but a bit to hectic for me. I still prefer Boots on the Ground.

Game #3, Dead Island Retro Revenge is completed. The game was pretty fun and is similar to Hotline Miami minus a kick ass soundtrack. Getting 5 stars on each level wasn’t too bad and was rather addictive trying to get a clean run while killing as many zombies as possible. Levels take about 2.5 to 3 minutes to complete and restarting if something went wrong was instant which helped. Survivor mode gave me more trouble than I thought it was. Marathon mode which requires completing the game in one go without losing all your lives was even more troublesome. The worst part was that when I finally got to the last level I died at about 75%. I had read on True Achievements that some people just had to reach the final level and not complete it so when I died so close to the end I was gutted but thankfully the trophy popped so maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to unlock. Interestingly the devs didn’t do as much QA as they should have as there are two similar enemy types that have to be killed in a certain way that is the opposite to each other but the combos shown in ‘How To Play’ were around the wrong way which initially was very confusing.

This one was a bit surprising. I got this on sale for $2 a couple years back but have never been all that interested in starting it. It’s not even a polarizing game, it is instead one of those rare games that is so universally despised that I don’t think I’ve ever read a single positive thing about it. But after finishing KCD in my last post, I was really craving some more of that sneaky mischief, lockpicking, and looting so I figured now was a good time to start this one.

 

What caught me by surprise was that I actually found this to be a pretty damn enjoyable game. Mind you, it certainly has some issues. The story is not great and the map navigation, collectibles, and secrets can be a pain, among other things. But I found myself really drawn into the dark, gloomy world of this labyrinthian medieval city. It feels a lot like Paris or another cramped European city from the Middle Ages, and the overall atmosphere kind of reminded me of Vampyr, another game set in the dark alleys and misty cobblestone streets of London which I found really compelling.

 

While the story was kind of whacko and I had no idea what was happening most of the time, the story missions themselves were pretty cool and had some interesting settings, the highlights being the spooky Moira Asylum mission which felt like it was ripped out of a horror game, the City Watch’s secret body disposal and corpse-looting factory operation eztraordinaire, and of course the at times hilarious debauchery of Madam Xiao Xiao’s brothel. 

 

There was something deeply relaxing about the time I spent in the shadows, quietly sneaking around rooftops and dark city streets, ducking in and out of people’s windows and houses as I robbed them blind. I felt temporarily afflicted with OCD as leaving any items and valuables unmolested was nearly impossible for me. I had to get my greasy fingers on all the loot! 30h play time. Around 10 or so UR trophies.

 

tl;dr Hide ya wife, lock ya drawers and clutch ya coin purses cuz Garett the moody master thief is coming for your cutlery and candlesticks.

I finished Spelunker hd.

The remake of an Amiga classic that reminds you of how gaming used to be. It has a steep learning curve and at first it might feel very hard but after you understand how it works you realize that the main game is quite simple. For example there's fall damage but the catch is that you die if the height of the fall is bigger than the height of your character...

The dlc on the other hand is hell. Fortunately you practically have infinite lives so eventually you will finish it if you are patient enough but there are times that it gets ridiculous.

@MMDE Hey M I know you love it when someone gets 100% for Spelunker so look at me flying!!!

 

Now the next game I'm going to focus on is Two Worlds 2. Damn it Copanele I know how much you like this game so if I manage to finish it I'm going to dedicate it to you!!!

Update: Finished Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator and I had a great time with @ShibaWaffle (can't tag him). We boosted all online trophies so talking with him while grinding those badges wasn't bad at all. Great guy! 

 

The hardest trophies in this game I would say are "To the Real World - Completed 70 missions" and "Medal of the Holy Order - Collect a total of 150 Badges" but most of these badges are easily boosted with a friend and some of these challenges in Mission mode were annoying as hell but luckily you only needed 70 of 95 or some like that.

 

There is still one thing which bothers me. We tried everything to figure out how a "Psych Burst" block works but we never got a progress in the statistic page when we blocked a Psych Burst. Really weird but whatever..

 

PS: M.O.M. mode sucks and was the most boring part in this game. Cheers!

The DLCs gets ridiculous. Once you get good in the main game, you're able to beat the game with 10-30 more lives than you started, but then you start the DLC, where it gives you 50 or 100 lives or whatever it was from the getgo, and you still struggle to finish 10 floors. o.o Back in the day I used to try to do it legit, even co-op. We usually made it to 8th or 9th floor.

#5 Trials Fusion

 

Difficulty 9/10

Enjoyment 9/10

 

Trials Fusion is a physics platform racing game requiring the player to get over a variety of obstacles while trying to complete the stage as quickly as possible. On paper the game is extremely simple as the player can only accelerate, brake, or lean their rider, but the depth and different tricks you can achieve with this simple control scheme is astonishing.

 

 

 

The biggest challenge consisted of beating all 120 Track challenges in the base game, and the DLC trophy for beating all 10 developer times in the "Redlynx vs Allstars" DLC.

 

I remember many years ago when I was in school playing "Trials 2" and other similar flash games on the computers when I should of been working, tabbing between the game and my blank google search screen or half assed word document as the teacher walked pass. When Trials HD got released on the Xbox 360 I bought it as soon as I saved up enough pocket money. I remember clearing the entire game and fumbling through all extreme tracks but never being able to achieve the "marathon" achievement, even after many attempts. The achievement required the player to clear a 24 track playlist consisting of easy, medium and even a few hard tracks with 0 faults. I cared about achievements and trying to achieve 100% but as a young teenager gave up fairly easy and admitted defeat.

When I bought my ps5 last year and got into trophy hunting, I immediately had both trials games on my to-do list to make up for what I was unable to achieve when I was younger. I had also played a little bit of rising on PC casually when it was released which reignited my curiousity and enjoyment for the genre, although I stopped around reaching the extreme tracks. I completed rising a few months ago however I didn't enjoy the list THAT much, it felt incredibly grindy and I only really remember struggling a little bit on a few of the skill games and achieving a diamond medal on one of the DLC tracks. I knew it rising would be a good warm-up for fusion when I did come around to attempting it.

The fusion list however I found EXTREMELY enjoyable. I love when a trophy list requires the player to do interesting tasks or play the game completely different to a regular playthrough, and every track having 3 challenges asking the player to do something different I loved. Don't get me wrong there were a few challenges that were "filler" or frustrating (top roach XD) but I still found the list close to a 10/10 in what was asked for the player to achieve 100%.

 

As mentioned above there were 3 things I was worried about before I tackled this game. 2 Challenges and 1 Trophy being beating the developer times.

There were a few challenges along the way such as a few skill game related trophies and one or two DLC challenge trophies but everything was fairly manageable (or cheeseable) even for intermediate skilled riders. (Quick shoutout to @Joe Dubz who posted in the trials fusion forum pretty much covering every cheeseable trophy or user created maps to practice the difficult challenges on for anyone planning on attempting this.)

I decided to go for the developer times before completing every challenge as I wanted to pop the 120 challenge for my 2000th trophy, and I was 30 or so off by the time the game was close to complete.

I personally LOVE time trial related trophies, so I was extremely excited to race against the developers times however I kept reading posts about "Sleepy Creek". There were 10 developer times and I knocked out 8 of them in a single siting avoiding sleepy creek on purpose, only really struggling with 1 or 2. I thought "how bad can sleepy creek be these times aren't to difficult" as I got off for the evening.

The next time I played it was time for sleepy creek. Quick disclaimer, I don't consider myself a great rider, I have a decent grasp on the physics and can understand most obsticles and what is required to get through them, BUT THIS PIPE AT THE START OF SLEEPY CREEK??? I honestly couldn't grasp it. I spent 30 minutes alone trying to understand how to get a decent landing off it and retain enough speed required for the skip. I think I was averaging about a 1 in 10 successful skips before I got the have a shot at the actual map even after trying to replicate 15 different youtube videos. After 2 hours of attempts I managed to string together my worst run by far, but it was enough to beat the developer and earn my first real hurdle of the 100%.

I spent the next few sessions cleaning up most of the track challenges avoiding the notorious 2 most difficult challenges, "Pipe Phobia", and "Top Roach".

"Pipe Phobia" required the player to clear an easy map while avoiding the bikes front tire to touch any pipes. (the map has 4 sections with piepes, 1 being extremely long.)

"Top Roach" required the player to 0 fault an extreme track on the heaviest bike. (extreme tracks are almost exclusively completed on the lighter agile bike as they're about getting over unique obstacles which is very difficult on the heavier bike)

I hadn't attempted either yet but was by far most worried about "Pipe Phobia" as I felt I had next to no wheelie practice as it's not required for anything else in the game and Top Roach would simply be learning some consistant setups. I couldn't of been more wrong.

I decided to try Pipe Phobia first as almost everything I read claimed it was easier even though I still had my doubts in my wheelie ability. To my surprise it honestly wasn't to bad at all, while attempting the challenge I could see a clear improvement in my ability while slowly getting more consistant with every attempt. The most difficult part for me was the 4th pipe section as I could not find a reliable setup, but after 20 minutes or so in the "Pipe Phobia Practice" track centeral map managed to find a fairly consistant setup. I was able to bang it out in around 2-3 hours over 2 sessions, honestly enjoying the challenge SO MUCH MORE than I first expected.

Finally all I had left was Top Roach.

After PIpe Phobia I felt fairly confident as I thought I was a decent Roach rider. I was so wrong.

The map on the roach was honeslty not that hard in theory, there were 3 difficult obstacles and the rest was achieveable by fairly novice riders. But these 3 Obstacles were a headache, and to top things off were not very consistant at all.

To begin with this box was my worst nightmare, I felt like I could do the back end of the map fairly consistant but was only getting over this stupid box 1 in 8 runs. I eventually sat down and practiced it over and over until I found a semi consistant method of getting over it, but still only make it 50% of the time.

This. Fucking. Box. I honestly still just don't understand it, it felt random to me. This box alone added hours to the challenge, the amount of cheap faults I got trying to get a decent entry onto it which is required for the next random ass bunny hop. These 2 obstacles were 80% of the difficulty for me. I tried many different things trying to make it as consistant as possible and I still feel like I only get over it with a successful follow up bunny hop 10% of the time.

The final difficult obstacle. As much as I hated this obstacle it felt fair, so every time I faulted here on a 0 fault run (which was about 8 times I believe) I could only be upset at myself.

After the third day of attempts and getting 3, 0 fault fails here in close to 30 minutes I finally sat down and grinded it in the practice map until I could get it consistantly. Right after I launched the proper map I managed to 1 shot it finally completing this grueling challenge.

Apart from the second difficult obstacle on Top Roach  the rest of the game was extremely enjoyable. I highly recommend this title to anyone looking for a difficult UR and believe it's achieveable by anyone if they put enough time to learn the physics and practice enough. The game is fairly old now so there's plenty of resources allowing you to get better easily.

Well done, you blazed through that ? Do you feel like your prior experience with other Trials games helped you out on this one?? This was my first foray into the series, so it has been quite the learning experience for me ? I feel like I've already come a long way from my humble beginnings not even 2 months ago tho!

 

Getting pretty close myself, I have 7 challenges left (of course that includes Pipe Phobia and Top Roach ?), as well as 3 RedLynx times to beat (Seismic Activity, Sleepy Creek, and Extraterrestrial). Although I haven't put a tonne of effort into the remaining RedLynx times yet, been mostly focusing on knocking the challenges out. I have to wholeheartedly agree with you that I absolutely love the variety of challenges they included here; some of them are very fun and unique ways to play the game!

 

Anyway, congrats once again, now you get to join the elite with @Arcesius, @KindaSabbath, @ExistentialSolid, @Mori (see I knew I was forgetting someone ?), and probably a few others in here that I missed too! Hopefully I'll be joining the crew here too soon enough; I'm just hoping 1.5 months is enough time to knock these last few things out, but I feel pretty confident I can hit the mark in time before the bounty expires! Every time I see my list, I get reminded that the 2015 reboot of NFS is still waiting there for me to complete it. Damn... I really need to go back to it to finish those Prestige drift events. ?

 

I hope Vanquish on the PS4 retains its UR status by the time I get to it. xP

Feels good to finally finish this up. I can't imagine there are a lot of people still in a position to 100% this with the servers now closed. In order to finish this off I just had to mop up 4 trophies. The first I tackled was Just-Ace League (3.35%) in the DC comics DLC. It was the last DLC trophy I needed and was the reason I had been putting off completing this game. It requires you to ace all the main story levels in the DLC. If you are unfamiliar with the LBP series acing a level requires beating it without dying, which can be quite difficult in some levels, very easy in others.

For the DC comics DLC it was just annoying as hell. The levels themselves were not that hard, certainly easier then some of the levels I have aced in LBP 1&2, but they are super long. Like 15-20 mins long, with tons of in level cutscenes every time, and slow on rails sections. It made acing super annoying because one mistake meant wasting tons of time replaying easy sections. Then you try to rush because you just want to get back to were you failed, but rushing gets you killed on something you have never died on before. Just very annoying and tested my patience.

 

Conversely, acing all the main story levels in the base game for Aced Story Mode (5.07%) was probably the easiest set of levels to ace out of any of the LBP games I have played. I at most had to play a level 3 times to do it. Most I cleared on the first attempt.  Chases The Aces (3.28%), which asks you to ace 10 levels in a row without fail, was also easy. It can be done on the first 10 levels in the game to make it easier, and it only actually resets your progress when you respawn, so if I died I just closed the game before respawn and tried again. Wasn't too bad at all.

 

And the final trophy I needed was Get A Life (5.74%) for spending 1440 active minutes in create mode. That's 24 hours of actively using the mode, a stupid grind. Thankfully to be active you just have to be touching the touch screen, and I discovered that the foil wrapper on a pack of antacid tablets I had triggered the touch screen. So I was able to just let the system idle with the touch screen 'held down' for the entire time. Just gave my screen regular breaks every 2-3 hours to avoid screen burn in and this plus the platinum were now mine. 3 more UR's in the bag.

 

Reflecting on the game as a whole it was probably the hardest game to plat in the LBP series overall simply due to how many online trophies it had. 21 in total. Due to not having split screen like the other games nor the ability to boost your stats with alts, a significant amount of co-ordinated effort was required to get all the prize bubbles, getting 50 unique plays on a level you published, completing 25 vs levels, etc.

 

As a side note I have now finished half of Sackboys games. I am on track for series completion.

Definitively 100%. When I started rising I believe I could of completed 50% of the list without any improvement. There was a stage in both games where it felt like I needed to "get good" in order to finish off the last few trophies. In rising it was around getting a platinum time on every continent and in fusion it was towards the end of finishing off the DLC's before the developer times.

But coming from rising to fusion helped immensely. Rising has a very informative tutorial section which actually pushes the player a decent amount and teaches you things your casual player wouldn't pick up from a playthrough, unlike fusion which was like "yo bhop this 1 meter gap".

Learning these techniques and explaining them shortened the learning curve by a lot, I honestly can't imagine going into fusion as my first trials game and being forced to learn a lot of these tricks myself or through a third party. Kudos to you for doing so well and i'm sure you easily be able to bang it out before the bounty expires!  ?

Also reading your post made me realize once again, how amazing Trials Fusion and the series in general is. Playing Trials Fusion (& Trackmania Turbo) back in 2018 was such a great time.

Don't be fooled by my run! I still feel like I have no idea when I compare myself to some of these other players...

I also picked up trackmania turbo a few weeks ago and I'm super keen to start it. Trying to hold off making a swap due to me wanting to clear my backlog of a few UR games but I might not be able to resist...

Personally I played Fusion before Rising, and it was the first time I played a Trials game... But I instantly fell in love with the game. Such an incredibly high skill ceiling! Getting the 100% is already tough enough, but it is nothing compared to what is possible in this game, and that's just something that I still have trouble wrapping my head around ?

 

But I agree with your follow-up post... If I were to play these games again, I would start with Rising. The Uni 101 tutorial is absolutely fantastic.

Just a quick update on my side... I have yet to complete a single game for this event, so I thought a brief explanation might be needed ? 

 

There are two reasons for my lack of progress... 

• I'm moving to a new place at the end of the month, and will have a new gaming setup once it's over. 
• Deep Rock Galactic is eating up all of my gaming time. 

So the second point is self-explanatory. I have been playing DRG whenever I find a free minute... Either having a lot of fun with my team (@Mori, @HusKy & @Exhuman1988), or just playing with randoms. It's addictive, it's fun,.. and it's a huge, huge grind ?

 

As for the first point... I decided that I won't be starting any new games before actually moving to the new place. I've been playing on a 65" TV for a while now, and I'm honestly speaking sick of it ? I have already bought a gaming monitor and am currently thinking about my new office / gaming desk setup. Once eveything is set up, it's back to my unfinished games. I plan to return to Bleed and knock out the last two Arcade runs, as well as grind the deathless runs in Super Meat Boy Forever... I have meanwhile also completed everything in Badland and have been completing coop-missions solo as well, but I still have ~200 coop-missions left. @Mori and myself will start working on those soon after the move as well
