Both have their pros and cons I guess. I really didnt mind the limited swaps last time but I can also understand when people dont want to play certain games they have already picked for the event and then have to use limited swaps. It might have worked better in the last event because people were also eager to get that donation pool to the max and now it is a more chilled checklist for everyone who wants to post about their UR games; which by the way I like as much as I liked the last event. 

 

Personally I use it for some motivation to clear UR games that are sitting in my backlog for a while now or just to get to do UR games in general.

Yes, the tier list will remain in place, I do not wish to remove that one  

 

As Mori said, the last year we had more rules because of the charity event as well. I know there are a selected few (me included) who actually liked the past rules  but since they kinda ruin the fun for most, I said to keep it more relaxed this year. 

 

Thus being said, I seriously doubt I would remove any other rule from now on

I finished Hyper Void yesterday and it also concludes my Tier 2. It is a shmup-like that lets you fly through wormholes while defeating enemies. The catch is that the space is bent and so shooting lines get warped as well. Unfortunately it only sounds good on paper.

 

The 29 levels are all rather short and have enough variety to not make it boring on the first playthrough. The soundtrack is fitting and the graphics are simple. Unique bosses are few but fun while others are repeated two or three times over all levels.

Space bending is interesting in the beginning but over the course too many deaths happen that were the sheer result of a weird camera angle and thinking stuff wont hit you when it actually does. It didnt ruin the game but it wasn't great either, especially in Hyper Mode.

Hyper Mode is unlocked for each level seperately by beating the high-score of that level. You have to beat the level again but this time you die after one-hit instead of 3. Luckily there are still power-ups you can pick up in most levels that can grant you invincibility, more firepower or an extra shield which allows you to take an extra hit. This made it even easier to beat all levels in Hyper Mode.

 

Lastly the game has a lot of UR trophies that are laughably easy, example: At the start of a level, simply dont move for 10-20 seconds. 0.88% trophy.

 

 

I already have a few candidates for Tier 3.

Completed the 9th game of my Tier 1 : Pox Nora 

 

 

Pox Nora is a turn based strategy card game in a fantasy setting. You have a deck of 30 runes you can choose from different factions and the first to destroy the opponent's shrine wins. You accumulate nora, which is some sort of magical energy each turn and can use it to cast spells, place relics, deploy champions or use equipments. You can then move your champions and engage in battles with the other player's. Your movements and attacks are limited by your champion's AP (action points) which regenerate at the start of each round. Besides that, there isn't much to say about it because the trophies don't ask you to learn the in depth tactical strategies and mechanics all that much. It just turns into a big and boring grind. 

 

In another news I started Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, which is the last game of my tier. I should wrap it up by tomorrow ?

Having just finished a 3D brawler with Yakuza 0 I figured I may as well see if those skills transfer over to a 2D brawler. I had two trophies left. The first, Kill Jet, is easy enough. Just get to and beat the stage 2 boss on hardcore settings. I would get that on my way to get the other unearned trophy High Score. High Score is what stopped me from finishing this 7 years ago. I just could not see myself pulling it off as it tasks you with getting a score of 800,000 on hardcore. There is a glitch to do it 'easier' but I could never get it to work as its hard to set up.

 

So I began my hardcore play through. I went with Axel for his ➡️➡️ uppercut. It gives good points and does good damage. If you are unaware hardcore settings is the hardest difficulty plus you only start with one life. The first 4 levels are not too bad, a few rough spots, especially while relearning the game, but manageable. Thankfully these Sega PS3 games are incredibly easy to save scum as you can save and load at any point. So I would just save after every enemy group if I cleared it with minimal health loss. For bosses I would get a few clean hits in and then save. I also made sure to grab every hidden life on the way.

 

The difficulty really ramps up from stage 5 though. I had to inch my way forward in a lot of spots to only aggro 1 or 2 enemies at a time. And I was saving after every successful kill. At this stage I was also saving after every single clean hit on bosses. It was a slow and painful way to play, but the AI is just to unpredictable to do it any other way unless you are a Streets of Rage god. And then I got to the level 7 elevator...

 

Fuck the level 7 elevator. Fuck it to hell and back. Absolute insanity. Dozens of enemies all at once, all the harder types in large groups, no room to move, getting combo'd into eternal despair. You better have 9+ lives saved (the game only ever shows 9 but you can have more) because you will lose most of them here. After suffering through the elevator you then fight 3 robots as a final boss to the level. I made it to them with 2 lives left, and while annoying they are much easier to save scum then the elevator. Thankfully if you have used mostly the uppercut and the normal punches with minimal weapon use you don't actually need to play the eighth and last level. The end of level bonus on level 7 should push you over 800,000 points popping the trophy.

 

I spent way to much time on this trophy though. The whole hardcore play through took me like 7 or 8 hours. It was painful. And I used hundreds of saves to get it done, more then all my other save scumming in other games combined. Streets of Rage 2 is a classic game but something I never want to look at again because of the High Score trophy. I do not recommend. Just grab it on steam if you want to play it so you don't have to suffer.

Battle Worlds: Kronos

Difficulty: 5/10

Time spent: about 50h

This is a turn-based strategy game that, according to its background, looks like it is played in space, while in reality every battle takes place on Earth which is just renamed Kronos. The game is quite bad, because it runs horribly. It really looks like a ps2 game, since there is a frame drop every 5-10 seconds, and some of them last about 5 seconds, particularly when you quit from a menu. This fucks up your inputs and you can end in placing a unit somewhere where you didn't want to.

Also any turn-based game that features lots of unit at once should allow to pick multiple units to move them with 1 command, or merge them into a group. Here it does not happen, so when you have an army of 20-30 units, you must move each one, everytime. You waste hours due to this.

If this game was way faster, it would have been enjoyable, but it isn't, that's why this game is a decent UR mine since I guess people couldn't bear with this super slow game,

 

The trophy list is one of the "best" I have ever seen of the category "I cba to think about some trophies to put in, let's just make them all the same", in fact all the trophies are the exact same thing: for every mission there are 3 trophies, one for clearing it, another for clearing the secondary objectives and the last one for not calling reinforcement. On top of that, some missions don't even have a secondary objective, yet they have a trophy for that which means you get said trophy for just finishing the mission... same action, 2 trophies, gj.

It's been a week and a half since I finished it, but my next UR game is checked off the list with Rayman Legends (Vita). It took me almost 6 months to get to 'Total Awesomeness', however it could be argued that I was totally awesome before I started. It would be my wife that would be arguing against btw  I had previously beaten the PS4 version a few years ago and really enjoyed it then. When I saw that the Murfy Challenge was glitched for a whole week back in December, I took advantage and started playing on the Vita. There was a server issue scare in the middle of the chase where it was down for about a week and some were speculating they may just leave it down since only a couple hundred people are actively playing (probably less now that people who took advantage of the glitch are finishing it up), but thankfully they fixed them and this wasn't left as my first unobtainable plat.

 

The good news about me finishing up Rayman is that my Vita is now free to start tackling the RNG Grind known as Shiren The Wanderer. I've gotten about 12 trophies in the last 10 days there, however I have a feeling it'll be sometime before I get 12 more. I've got a couple of non UR games that I need to finish up and then I'm eyeing Jurassic World Evolution 2 as my next UR plat.

Update time: I have finished Silent Hill 2 HD and Yakuza 4 (PS3). 

 

With the new PS Now and PS plus merge. A lot of games leaving PS Now. It was time to tackle a game which I wanted to play forever but never started. It was the Silent Hill HD Collection. I heard a lot of bad stuff about this HD collection but I still wanted to play it. I started SH 3 at first because I wanted to familiarize myself with the Silent Hill games. Got the platinum in SH3 and started SH2. The only reason why SH 2 is stated as a 9/10 difficulty is because of the:

 

Who needs a gun? trophy.

 

Where you have to require the Green Hyper Spray and to get the GHS you have to get a 10 Star Ranking. 

For the 10 Star ranking you need to: 

• Beat the game on Action Level Hard
• Beat the game on Puzzle level hard (or extra)
• Get all the possible endings (the UFO ending is not needed for this, if you got Leave, Maria, In Water, Rebirth, Born from a Wish and Dog that's perfectly okay. Your result will read 4/4 (+2)
• Beat the game with two saves or less. See  Playing on the Edge for details.
• Beat the game in under three hours. See  Warp Speed and the video guide below for details.
• Collect, at least, 150 items (see  Keen Eye) and all of the 8 special items in the game which are:

  • The Hyper Spray (in the trailer home on Saul St., color depends on your rank in the previous playthrough)

Silent Hill 2 is classic and I'm happy that I started it. I highly recommend this one if you a little bit nostalgic and never played a great ps2/ps3 game.

 

 

 

And about Yakuza 4 I have not a lot to say because I platinumed all those remasters. I only forgot how annoying Jiro Amon was..

Completed the 10th and final game of my Tier 1 : Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime 

 

 

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a shooter where you pilot a spaceship with several stations inside it that allows you to control the ship's weapons, engine, shield, cannon and map. The game was designed to be played with friends (up to 4 people), with each player controlling a single character and sharing tasks between flying the ship, protecting it from potential damage and also killing the enemies. You go through 4 campaigns with 4 levels each and a boss fight where you need to find and rescue your captured friends scattered across space. 

It's a nice and chill game with a few UR trophies that I would recommend to anybody. Sadly I don't have a couch coop partner to play with which means I had to do it with the AI. The AI is pretty decent and works out fine, but the game looks way more fun when you play with someone tho. There is also a few trophies that were annoying to do with the AI since you can't control their movements, which means I had to improvise.

I am done with the NHL games but decided to get my 10th platinum milestone before popping them out all in order, that's my obsession for wanting a well organized profile ? There is also 11 games instead of 10 because I haven't decided between The Fight and Surgeon Simulator which one will be my 10th plat milestone yet. I wanted to go for The Fight initially but I'm having trouble finding boosting partners (if anyone is interested) so I might leave it for a future one and go for Surgeon Simulator instead.

It was a fun game but suffered from way too many glitches and crashes. Also the game can be very boring at times because there is just a lot of waiting to do in the missions. There is no real difficulty, it’s just time consuming.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is done. Not nearly as easy as a lot of people say it is, but not a terribly difficult game either. The online grind sucks though.

I finished my first tier!

 

Payday 2: The many DLCs made this one quite the long (111 trophies), yet enjoyable coop experience. Played it with @Mori, @Baker and @Exhuman1988. I don't know if I've ever played a game with that many bugs and issues, we would literally have a problem almost EVERY mission we did. Sometimes it were minor visual bugs but often times it would force us to restart the missions and it was quite frustrating.

The game also felt quite clunky and couldn't even hold up a consistent 30 fps.

However, if you look past all this, I think the idea behind this game is really cool and most missions were quite fun and creative. If they can fix their shit, and maybe remove some of the "wait" objectives, that had you just sitting in a corner for 5 minutes, I think Payday 3 has the potential to become one of the better coop games out there. 

 

Move or Die: Just switched that one in after completing it as my number 10 with @Mori. It's a platformer party game with lots of individual mini-games and the gimmick that you die as soon as you stop moving around. In theory, the trophies are all quite easy, with just one problem: you need to do them locally. So for the 4 player trophies, if you don't conveniently have 3 friends around helping you out, you will have to do it as we did: using 3 controllers at the same time while attempting to finish the objective with one of them (the 4th joins via SharePlay). I think you can imagine the fun we had with this. But hey, really unique experience and quite quick ultra rare trophies.

 

I also finished Spellbreak with Mori a while back, but forgot to put it in my list. The combat was quite fun and I think this game had potential when it came out, but I guess the developers bombed it by being way to slow in implementing new stuff. Now the game is completely dead and unless you enjoy playing battle royales against lobbies of 90% bots for many hours, I would recommend you stay away from this one.

As Bakker and Koro already said, we finished Payday 2 yesterday. I have not much to add here. Fun concept but the game runs on a 2001 racing engine and comes with a shit ton of minor and major bugs, some ruining entire runs. Also each mission has a ton of waiting sections, some can be cut short by bringing the right equipment but you'll still wait a lot. Thanks to @Baker, @Exhuman1988 & @Koro249 for teaming up.

 

Also just wrapped up Move or Die with Koro. It's a party game with some easy UR trophies, though the 4-player trophies can be quite a pain.

#6 Tramania Turbo

 

Difficulty: 7/10

Enjoyment: 7/10

 

Trackmania Turbo is an arcade racing game requiring the player to drive through crazy maps while focusing on going as fast as possible. Trackmania Turbo is the only console release from the on-going franchise of 15+ years.

 

The biggest challenge consisted of achieving a gold medal on all 200 campaign maps, as well as achieving a "trackmaster" (platinum) medal on 50 of the campaign maps.

 

 

After a long break from trophy hunting due to irl commitment's I'm happy to say I'm back.

With what spare time I had throughout the past few months I was slowly chipping away at TM Turbos massive campaign. The campaign contains 200 maps, broken into 5 different colours representing the difficulty, which contain 40 maps each. Each colour is then further broken up into 4 different environments which handle VERY differently, containing 10 maps each.

The canoyon environment focuses on drifting. The valley environment focuses on dirt tracks which are hard to drive. The lagoon environment car is extremely sensitive and contains extremely tight and fast turns. Finally stadium is the most tradtional environment which focuses on speed.

 

The first 120 tracks were quite straight forward and I didn't run into any issues, the gold medal times in this game felt extremely generous on the large majority of tracks. Throughout the red series (121 - 160) There were a few problematic tracks and the difficulty definatively stepped up quite a lot but I don't remember spending an insane amount of time on any specific tracks.

The issues occured in the black series, which are the last 40 tracks in the game.

The problem myself and many others had with these tracks are they were honestly unfair. The difficulty felt pretty artificial with how the tracks were designed, for example track 176 has an extremely tight gap between an eletricity pole that must be taken at full speed in order to get the gold, 1 minute into the track. I was making this jump 1/10th of the time, and while the rest of the map was fairly simple and what I consider "fair" it was still easy to screw up. A lot of the first 20 black maps felt like this, 1 or 2 rediculous jumps or tricks leading to an artificial time sink until I managed to pull it off and drive the rest of the map well enough for a gold. The notorious tracks 178 and 180 come to mind with absurd lines that felt almost random to pull off. Luckily enough 181-200 were a lot more forgiving and the only maps I struggled with were 186 and 190 each taking ~45-1hr each.

My enjoyment would of been rated a lot higher, and the difficulty a lot lower if it wasn't for these few black tracks spread throughout the end campaign.

 

Once I had achieved all gold I had around 20 or so trackmaster medals left. I had achieved ~15-20 throughout the campaign on various tracks and would grind out a few when I was short on time or wanted to have a chill session without having to grind some awful black track.

I loved earning these medals as I really enjoy the time trials aspect of games. I find optimizing a somewhat simple map and making slight adjustments or perfecting lines very enjoyable. After earning every gold medal though this was pretty much a victory lap, and I finished it up in 2 short sessions.

 

Excluding the few unfair black tracks I'm glad I played this and it felt nice to earn a decently difficult racing plat.

Unsure if I want to attempt Super Meat Boy or Super Rude Bear Resurrection next, although I'm leaning towards rude bear.
