Finished my third game for the event, Gran Turismo 7!



Overall, a pretty good game. It was unfortunately met with a lot of controversy regarding the micro transactions and all, but that aside it's a very solid entry in the series!
In terms of difficulty, I reckon I'll place it as a 7/10. If anyone has platted GT5 and/or GT Sport, then this one won't be too troublesome. With the platinum, the hardest part is S7 and S10 in the license challenges, but it wasn't too frustrating personally. A good challenge for sure, but it doesn't nearly push you like the 91 wins for Sport did... That being said, perhaps it's best we didn't get any ridiculous trophies like that this time around, I'll take the 7/10 difficulty thank you very much! ?
However, getting gold for some of the circuit experiences, ESPECIALLY Laguna Seca, is really hard! ? It isn't necessary for the platinum, but if it were then this would easily be pushed to a 9 or even 10/10 difficulty plat.

From here I'll continue my progress on Persona 4: Arena Ultimax. Did a few characters for the original Arena story, but I reckon I'll do all the Golden Arena trophies before I properly dive into the rest of the story content... and also Ultimax's story too!

Bounty claimed - I Am Bread completed 

 

It was a decent challenge overall, the Cheese Hunt Garden level was the hardest challenge in the game by a mile, and that level alone it took me around 7-8 hours for A++. The plat is hard but quite doable with a bit of practice, the common barrier for players is to get used to the controls as it can seem confusing at times. I had fun most of the time, despite Cheese Hunt mode being the hardest it was one of the most fun ones to tackle, I'm big into time trails and it was quite satisfying to beat some of those tight times with the Cracker bread. Bagel races were also enjoyable - easier controls and a breathe of fresh air after doing Baguette, which was my least favorite mode.

In: Grip: Combat Racing, In Space We Brawl & Neon Drive

 

I finished Curses 'n Chaos today. This game landed on my radar last year during the TagTeam event and even though I initially said I would not play it, I could not resist when it went on sale for a meager two bucks.

 

It is a 2D Arena Brawler, enemies attack you in ten waves, each lasting 60 seconds before Death spawns and tries to one-hit you. The 10 waves conclude with a boss fight.

 

Fighting mechanics are kept simple, enemy variety is ok, though as you progress enemies usually only change their appearance but have the same moveset as prior ones with more health. Bosses are unique and fun. Enemies can drop items like bombs, cannonballs or ballista which can help a lot fighting off the hordes. You can also mix items in the main menue to unlock more potent items.

 

Overall very straighforward and rather easy list except the 200-combo trophies which were challenging but unfortunately also relied too much on RNG with enemy spawn patterns sometimes being overwhelming.

I've been playing the PS3 version of BO3 a lot over the past 2 weeks and I can already feel the platinum, should be done in the weekend. I had to stop practicing Verlet Swing to focus on BO3 but I'll get back to it asap, was feeling confident to start some challenges. Replacing Windbound with SpeedRunners mostly because I'm feeling the urge to play a game like that and I'm removing WWII because I'm waiting for some friends to finish BO4 and that might take some time (blackout is pure pain).

Completed my third game for Tier 1: Sonic Adventure 2

 

Having obtained all 180 Emblems once before on the GameCube, I thought it wouldn't be too much trouble to do it again on the PS3. What I had forgotten as time went on, however, was just how intense some stages can be when going for A Rank. A lot of old horrors that had previously gone dormant resurfaced in this playthrough. No regrets, though. As a Sonic fan, this game is great, and I love that I finally have this completion as permanent symbol of proof for an achievement that brought me a lot of joy in my childhood.

Finally another game done for this event and it's Deep Rock Galactic.

 

 

When the platinum popped, it was a bittersweet moment. The repetitive grind made me question my sanity and I think this will be my last super grindy game for a very long time.

With the incoming switch from PSNow to PS+ Premium, it looks like several games will be gone, and Atari Flashback volumes 1 and 2 could be one of those. Therefore I did a super push to clear this game asap, as my platinum #400. But the 20h according to Exophase are definitely way too much, I think I spent not more than 14h which includes also all the time spent in the XMB loading back the save.

I found Volume 2 a bit funnier than 1, maybe because it has several difficult trophies to earn. Once again, save scumming helps drastically but it remains a decent challenging list. Personally most of the problems were from the Star Ship game where you need to reach parsec 60. That game is broken regarding controls, as whenever you start a new run or load the save the controls may be unresponsive for 2-3 seconds, other than that, save scumming slows you down while you need to keep your speed very high to reach parsec 60. Therefore, I could save scum only at parsec 30 as a sort of checkpoint, for the rest I had the learn the (most common) pattern to take to clear that game. After some hours and being constantly stucked at parsec 59, I finally got the perfect run i needed. The rest of the difficult trophies were a matter of save scum for hours.

 

 

I'm positive that Leo's Fortune will be gone from psnow as well, so I may finally push to clear it but I'm very sick of that game at this point.

Finally, it's over. There is no campaign in the PS3 version of Black Ops 3, so they took all the grind from there and put it on MP (what a great idea, right?). In total it took me about 80 hours to finish everything MP related, 50 hours boosting and 30 hours playing with randoms, it was kinda fun, the main problems were that the game runs very poorly and the matchmaking is horrible (like... who the fuck tought that it was a great idea to limit the search to your own region only?). Since I had done the PS4 version already, zombies was easy (except doing Packing Early solo, that was fun and a little challenging), I must admit that playing zombies made me realize that this is the ugliest COD of the entire franchise.

I finished In Space We Brawl & Rayman Legends.

 

In Space We Brawl is a couch twin-stick shooter with up to 4 players fighting in deathmatch or team-deathmatch while avoiding asteroids and fighting off aliens. It also includes 21 challenges that serve more as a tutorial for all the mechanics the game has to offer.

 

Trophy-wise it is just a massive grind apart from the challenges. I spent most of the time watching documentaries on the side.

 

 

I don't think Rayman Legends needs an introduction. I mentioned it a couple times before and for the most part I had only the online left to do which was doing daily and weekly challenges. Based on your performance compared to everyone else you earn either a bronze, silver, gold or diamond cup after a challenge is over. Bronze yields 1 point, silver 5 points, gold 10 points and diamond 50 points. After you complete everything else the game has to offer, you still need roughly 1.500 points to reach Awesomeness Level 11. I was content with getting silvers and golds for the most part, eventually though I improved in a certain challenge to earn a diamond cup whenever it appeared, speeding up the process quite a lot. 

 

The challenges and the music/rhythm levels from the singleplayer were definitely the most fun I had with the game.

Got something new to say since i've finished Kung Fu Panda Showdown of Legendary Legends, rather easy Beat 'em Up game, a bit grindy but i still like the game for it's adaption of the Kung Fu Panda movies.

 

I'm going to add in Rayman Legends (PS4) since i've started that earlier and been going through most part of the sp content but due to the online challenges it'll be 2-3 months until i reach the ... it's an awesome game, i really enjoy it's visuals...

I've completed my fourth game for the event, the PS4 re-release of Persona 4: Arena Ultimax!



What a spectacular game. Although the original Arena story was a bit repetitive, the overall narrative was just brilliant. Labrys has become one of my favourite characters in the series, and seeing the return of the Persona 3 cast and how they've moved on in their lives, especially through Ultimax's epilogue, was really awesome to see. Also, Teddie is pretty funny! ?
This game had a good amount of challenge too with Shadow Labrys' combo challenges, and Golden Arena was pretty satisfying to go through, especially once you manage to raise a high-leveled character. In the Episode P4 route, I can't name the specific character as to not spoil anything, but Yu Narukami teaming up with a certain person at the end of Ultimax was great closure.
Overall, a fantastic game!

Next, I'll probably go back to Black Ops III. I'll be having some more spare time soon so I'll be going back to the Zombies maps. Once all that's done, I'll do that dreaded single-player campaign, hoo boy... ? I might start another game in the meantime since BO3 is a long one!

It has been a while since I posted here so i have completed two games!

 

Dirt 3: A very good racing game that managed to push me a little bit with the drifting and the Bobsleigh challenge. That doesn't say much though since I suck at racing games lol. Apart from those annoying challenges and an online grind for rank 35 this is a casual and enjoyable platinum. It made me interested in the Dirt Rally games. If I ever get to them and especially the second one I know that I will spit blood trying to get 100%.

 

Tera: This was my first MMO for consoles. I decided to go ahead and do it because some servers are closing. While the EU/NA servers appear to be safe for now we have heard a lot of bad news for this game over the years so I'm afraid soon all the servers will shutdown. It was an easy and very enjoyable journey. The community is very nice and there were always people helping with dungeons and bosses so that made it even easier. The only reason this is an UR platinum is because you have to kill 3 high level bosses that have hour long spawns and are being constantly farmed.

 

I will also do two swaps. I'm swapping Clan of Champions for Chronicles of Riddick and Hoard for Jump Force.

 

I'm almost done with the online grind of Chronicles of Riddick so i will wrap up the single player and next week I'm starting Warhammer 40k space marines. After that I will take care of Jump Force since the servers are closing and tier 1 will be finished.

I don't have 10 games for tier 2 though. Probably will do some backlog cleaning along with some online grinds like 7 days to die and Verdun with my boy @VirtualNight.

This game is a platform adventure where you control this... thing, i don't know what the hell is the character supposed to be; you will go through a total of 20 levels that feature obstacles, some easy puzzles and a bit of a strange platforming.

The game can be decently enjoyable as long as you don't touch the hardcore mode, the trophy list is almost entirely asking for a secret collectible scattered in some levels, as well as 3 stars each level which involves a no death run, speedrun and getting all collectibles. Since the 3 can be achieved separately, it is not a difficult task even for a beginner, so in all this process you can have a peaceful and fun experience.

 

But then, you realize that there is a shiny gold trophy, and that's when you decide to really hate the game. You need to finish the hardcore mode which is a run through all the levels without checkpoints/saves, you die and you start back from level 1, with the full run taking about 1h. Apparently an average player can get this 100% within 15-20h, that's why it took me about 45h instead.

I practiced a lot, yet there are something like 20 obstacles that are not 100% consistent to me, such as weird bounces when touching a roof after being launched, a wooden platform that is supposed to shoot you forward but that in rare cases may shoot you downwards straight to your death, i once also got suddently eaten by a bridge and shot into a mine ?.

It's really weird to control the characters, as he may suddently gain momentum (or not) while just moving along a flat surface, also jumping from some slopes is a sort of bet as you may shoot yourself into a spike in the process.

The game itself has very simple controls, and given the simplicity of the game itself, there is no exploit of any type to abuse of, and there is no skip available to make it through some hard sections with low effort, as most of the skips are regarding harmless parts to save some seconds, and the few done to skip obstacles are way harder to perform than the normal way.

After this, V6 and Splasher I can say for sure that I really hate no death modes in platformers, it was fine to do that in Wolfenstein 2 but not here at all.

With the game leaving from PsNow I pushed hard in the last days to clear this trophy list, hopefully I am free this week so I took the chance to deal with this nightmare of a game. This is definitely a game you do for the challenge and not for UR gains, not worth for the latter purpose at all.

 

 

For now I don't know what I will do for Tier 3, as I have to see what I'm going to get through the incoming PS+ Premium. I guess that I will check my library of 300+ UR games to do and pick something ?. I will do some practice for the coda run for Crypt of the Necrodancer as well.

As I was expecting, SpeedRunners is extremely fun, highly recommend it (it's currently on sale for 2 bucks, take a look at the gameplay and if you feel like you would like you probably will). The game has various stages where you have to be fast (hence the name) to take your opponents out of the screen for them to lose. There's only 2 URs, one for beating the history mode on the hardest difficulty and one for reaching the max level. Reaching the max level takes less than 5 hours if you have 4 controllers, so that's easy. On the unfair difficulty the AI is faster than you, it's hard at first but once you find out how to keep your momentum and understand each stage and shortcut available it gets kinda easy.

Came up with a big update on my Tier 2 as I completed none less than 7 of them !

 

 

• The Fight is a fighting game on PS3 where you use move controllers instead of your DS3. You perform real life strikes like punches, jabs or uppercuts with the move   on your hand. The game is very unique, swinging at your opponents is a real workout in and on itself. I've been feeling sore for the past 2 days because of it ? Great experience but the content is deeply lacking, it becomes repetitive and boring pretty fast. If anyone is interested in a full review, I just posted one here.

 

• Not a big fan of NHL in real life, I'm more into (both) football, basketball and baseball. In fact, I didn't even know the hockey rules before playing these games which left me very confused at first when I kept seeing offside or icing on my screen without knowing what the hell it was ? I got these games done because EA announced their shutdown a few weeks ago. I really wanted to pop those plats before the shutdown in order to prevent any bad surprise about a single player trophy that wouldn't unlock because of the shutdown for example. However, because I want a well organized profile, I wanted to get my 10th plat milestone first before popping the 4 NHL plats in order ? Overall the trophy lists share a lot of common stuff, some long and boring grind, sprinkled with some career/GM modes where you can simulate most of it in order to get everything done as fast as possible. I also needed to collect one player card from each team in HUT. When you start it's easy because you're missing everybody. The hassle comes when you're only a few cards away and you keep getting duplicates/players from teams you already have. It becomes a big RNG snoozefest. And I had to do it 4 times ? Why do I inflict this to myself? The stupid things we would do for trophies I guess 

 

• Heavy Metal Machines is another upcoming shutdown and another game I needed to speedrun through in order to get it done as fast as possible. It's a 4v4 car battle where you need to pick up a bomb and drop it to the enemy's base. Doing this 3 times wins you the match. Cars are equipped with weapons and belongs to different classes that grants them different abilities. I found the concept to be very interesting if it were played by a bunch of friends together. However playing this solely for the trophies turns again into a big and boring grind. If there isn't any player to pair you with, the game puts you in a lobby with bots, and it's the best thing you could ask for when going for the trophies because boosting this game would just double the time required.

 

• Not much to say about Bellator, MMA game with an online component that needs to be boosted. I'm a big UFC fan and my favorite fighter won a big title fight recently which made me want to try out a UFC game so I might get myself one in the next few weeks.

Let's log an ultra-rare completion!

 

 

One of my all-time favorite games that I'll likely log completions on multiple platforms.  The ultra-rare trophies are for the Dunwall City Trials DLC, which have a reputation of being very hard.  They are indeed tough, and several of the trophies are very luck based.  Conquering these challenges (which are mostly a test of perseverance and patience opposed to skill) gave me the confidence to tackle lots of other intimidating games in my backlog.

We have overlap between a lot of these games and the Platinum Difficulty Challenge that is also underway.  Unfortunately these are all the games I own with ultra-rares that are eligible, and so the likelihood of getting through the above list AND the other challenge is slim, but it's still fun to get my name on the boards.
