Ugh, yet again I have to use a swap. I’m participating in a challenge over on Discord that requires me to plat a game starting with Z. The only Z game in my backlog is Zombie Tycoon 2 which just so happens to be an ultra rare. I’ll swap Vanquish.

Completed the last game of my Tier 2 :

 

 

• Switch Galaxy Ultra is an arcade racer where you travel across galaxies, avoiding obstacles and enemies while collecting orbs that help you unlock the subsequent next levels. You control a ship where the input is limited to acceleration, braking and switching lanes and your goal is to beat the gold times avoiding multi colored barriers, enemies and broken track sections. You can hit boost pads to kick your acceleration or pick up colored orbs that allow you free passage through a number of barrier of that same color without being slowed down. Some enemies can also slow your ship or invert your controls by firing a bullet at you that is impossible to dodge sometimes. The concept is fun for the first few levels, but it gets boring and repetitive pretty fast. I felt like the game was overstaying its welcome by having 50 (+15 DLC) levels. The gold times aren't that bad once you buy the fastest ship in the game. 

 

That concludes my Tier 2. 

 

Since Tier 3 is unlimited, I will post the games as I progressively go through them. Here are some early candidates : 

 

 

• I just finished Smash Cars. It's a racing game where you drive radio controlled vehicles through an island where humans, dogs, bottles and other things serve as obstacles as you make your way through the levels. There are jumps scattered across each track that allow you to do flips in order to fill up your boost meter. You unlock new cars by getting the gold medals in each level. Then comes the hardest part of the game : the time trials. The biggest criticism I have with this game is that the fastest cars are also the ones with the worst handling. So when going for the time trials, you gotta choose between trading stability for speed. I chose to go with the car that was slower, but with a better handling because the other ones were truly terrible to navigate. It made the time trials harder, some required a lot of tries and a bit of luck. Managing your boost meter and knowing when to use it is key here. I think I beat all of the time trials by less than a second each and every time. If I needed 3m35s for example, I would beat it with 3m34s and some change ? All in all the challenge felt very artificial because of this bad design with the cars. I'm glad this is finally over and I can go on to play other games now, I really didn't enjoy my time with this one. 

 

As for what's next, Driver San Francisco, Ghost Recon and Spellbreak are all announced shutdown so I have to get them done. These last few weeks were nice because I wasn't held back by a potential future shutdown so I was free to play whatever I wanted, guess now I'm back to the grind ?

I should be able to get a lot of these done soon since most are almost done.

 

I have another update finally & this time I can claim a bounty which is a nice bonus! I finished Gran Turismo 6, 7 & Sport which is what I've mainly been playing with a few other games on the side. The only one that isn't in the event is Gran Turismo 6 which was a lot tougher than I expected it to be. The DLC is very hard especially the last time trial. It seemed comparable to the stuff in Trackmania since finishing the time trial itself was hard enough which is where the comparison comes from. It was only that one thing so thankfully the DLC didn't have the amount of stuff that Trackmania had. It was worth doing though

 

I did use Gran Turismo 7 for the event since it was rare at the time so I was pretty fortunate there. t's pretty good & decent challenge but not too hard. If you want something decent then it's definitely worth playing. I enjoyed going for the circuit experiences in it. The circuit experiences on release were something else though.

 

I finally got back to Gran Turismo Sport to finish if off. It's good timing that there is a bounty for it currently so that's a cool bonus. I already did most of the game awhile back so it was just a case of driving around & around for the level 50 trophy lol.

I'm gonna get a few more games done before I come back to finish off some of these. I'll probably get back on to Assetto this week to get some more hotlaps done. I have quite a lot to do in it so Assetto could take awhile plus I have to do all the hotlaps twice. I did this one awhile back.

Star Wars Battlefront wrapped up today. I can't really talk much about the game because I boosted 25 hours of the maybe 28 hours I played the game? Boosting that requires 12-16 people is a major pain and the day I got most stuff done was mentally draining and I want to never experience something similiar again.. at least with a bunch of randoms. Thanks to @Koro249 for doing most of the stuff with me.

 

Also, in case anyone is interested in Umbrella Corps, hit me up. Koro and I am going to "play" (boost) it soon-ish and we both have two consoles. Max players in a lobby is 6, so if you can bring two consoles as well, it would be even better.

This has been an awful experience from the first minute I started playing. It may be just me, as I don't like these type of games where the only goal is build stuff like in Minecraft. In fact, you don't have any objective to follow, you should just build stuff through A LOT of grind. I'm glad you don't have to for the platinum. No quests (no real ones at least), no particular scenarios involving some activity, nothing.

Hopefully you can customize your world settings, so you can disable zombies and do most of the grind without them around. Regarding the grind, it consists in going around to harvest stuff to build whatever you need for trophies, particularly for surviving and to build a bike in order to grind 1000km travelled which are way too much. The other grind is killing 2500 zombies, which you can turn on anytime. Kills go slow so it will take about 20h for them.

 

For the gameplay in general, it is obvious that this game is meant for pc, as you need to move a cursor to use your inventory which is quite annoying. Also the entire game is slow and quite unbalanced, since it rains everytime which is a problem for surviving.

 

Another grind is to kill 2500 players online, this is not CoD and if trying legit, you may be able to get a kill in about 5h or so, if you ever find someone. So you must boost this, thanks to @pot1414 for the help regarding this and the duplication glitch which saves lots of hours for another trophy.

 

Servers MAY shutdown (or be affected somehow) for ps4 by September. Online trophies will still be possible but only in split screen, and I can tell you that the method for kills will take an absurd amount of time, probably 200h or so due to all the required grind to build enough explosives.

 

 

The Q3 list brings new entries for my tier 3 although i don't think I will be able to do them all in time.

Deadlight was just something I thought looked cool that was on a recent sale. When I started playing it actually reminded of a certain game I used to play a lot on ps1: Oddworld, though with a Walking Dead theme. The game is made up of 2D side scrolling with light puzzles, jumping, climbing and combat. The only reason this game is UR is because of Nightmare mode, whenever you die, you start back at the beginning of whatever Act you died on (there are three Acts all up). This sounds worse then it is, the game if pretty short (my Nightmare run took an hour), Act 2 is harder because of a few sections but mostly due to the fact that it's longer than the other two Acts.

 

Superbeat Xonic is a rhythm game similar to guitar hero/djmax, the main difference is the notes don't drop down the screen like on the Matrix, they fly at you as if you were sitting in a cockpit. It actually works pretty well because the notes line up with the dualshock 4 buttons, it just gets confusing when you first jump into 6TRAX/FX. With some practice and decent shields, you'll eventually fly through all of the missions until you hit 6-Eleven, then the difficulty ramps up considerably. Once you finish all these missions, a secret club pops up with 3 more missions, all on the difficulty (or harder) then 6-Eleven. Won't lie, I struggled. Some songs I had to watch on youtube at half speed just to see certain parts because it's so fast. Guide on this site says 50 hours, it took me nearly 100.

 

I recommend both games, they go on sale dirt cheap constantly. Also I'm swapping out Dreams for Nex Machina.

Only one challenge left in Verlet Swing and I'm 100% sure that I have the skill to beat it but... it's a deathless run. I'm not that used to this kind of stuff like most of you guys, my heart goes brrrr everytime that I'm close to the finish. I've spent at least 30 hours trying with no success, I'll get back to it eventualy.

 

 

Deep Rock Galactic is the best co-op game that I've ever played, it was fun from the beginning to the end and believe it or not I've only played with randoms. There's nothing really hard in the journey, some stuff might sound difficult at first but after understanding the game better everything will seem easier. The rarity comes from the grind that is to get the platinum, even with the best strategy it should take at least 150 hours. One random thing I would like to highlight is how good the connection is, it's just amazing, there's no lag even playing with someone from Japan. Unfortunately there is no crossplay, but when they add it you can be sure that I will go for the 100% on the PS4 version aswell.

Update

 

 

Just wrapped up Extreme Exorcism. It's a 2D Arena & Platform Shooter. You have to kill ghosts for points, 1 point for normal ghosts and 10 for the ghost with the crown.

Every level works the same way. Round 0 starts with you and a haunted chair. You kill the chair and you progress to Round 1. Now it is you against a ghost with a crown who mimics every move you did in round 0. This continues until you loose all hearts (or leave). This can get pretty hectic after a few rounds because everytime you progress, it adds another ghost that mimics the move you did the round before. The crown ghost is always the one that mimics your last completed round.

 

 

The game is fairly straight forward and can be completed in a matter of a few hours. I actually was able to grab the second fastest achiever (always second, damn me). I started with the hardest part, challenge mode, which is divided into 5 parts each 10 levels with different requirements; kill only crown ghost, every weapon has only one bullet - reach X-Round etc.

Now in typical Mori-fashion, I was not aware of the mimic mechanic until the very last challenges..  After realizing what was going on it was much easier. I basically set up each round in a way that I had not to deal with anything hectic. Go in a corner wait 20 seconds, kill chair. Then I had 20 seconds to go to that corner, wait 18 seconds and kill the crown ghost, next round both mimic ghosts are in the corner and I kill the crown ghost after 16 seconds, and so on. There's also an ultimate you can pick up that sucks in ghosts in a small area and removes them from future rounds.

 

The Arcade mode was very easy, there are 6 or 7 chapters each with 5 levels except the last one with only a boss fight. You only need 50 points in each level in the first two chapters which comes down to 5 crown ghost kills. It goes up in later chapters up to 125 points, but with the aforementioned strategy absolutely no issue.

 

Almost all misc trophies can be done during the final boss in a matter of 5 minutes. 1000 deaths takes around 1-1:30 hours of falling into a pit.

Time to claim my first bounty: Yakuza Kiwami. This was a fun game, with its main strength being the story. Combat was decent, but I felt the climax battles highlighted the jank of it a bit much, which mostly made that part kinda annoying rather than outright difficult. Minigames weren't nearly as bad as I thought they would be either, I just had to spend a bit of time learning most of the gambling games and mahjong (actually quite fun!) ofcourse. Overall getting to 100% completion was a bit of a slog, but nothing hard about it. Legend difficulty also was a breeze with maxed out abilities and some very broken gear that carried over, even the infamous car chase section only took 4 tries. Overall I would say it doesn't really belong on the list with other most wanted games that I know about/have played, but I'm not complaining about the extra points

I finished Chronicles of Riddick. Damn that was quite the grind but fortunately you can afk a big part of it. This is one of the games from the start of the trophy system when developers really went all out with online trophies. At least the single player was very enjoyable and even though there are some missable trophies you can do a cleanup with checkpoint select. If you don't mind the online grind I recommend it.

 

Only two games left for tier 1 and I'm going to swap Warhammer 40k for 7 days to die which is almost done. I think I have a list for tier 2 ready but i don't think i will be able to reach tier 3. We will see.

#8 Verlet Swing

 

Difficulty: 8.5/10

Enjoyment: 9/10

 

Verlet Swing is a momentum based physics game which requires the player to use a hookshot to propel through 100 different stages. The game is set is an "aesthetic vaporwave" world, with a simple control scheme that contains an insane amount of depth.

 

The biggest challenge consisted completing the "hardcore marathon" challenge which is a deathless run requiring the player to complete 30 of the hardest stages in the game.

 

 

I discovered this game completely by accident, I was simply browisng the PSN stores most recent sale and the unique game cover caught my eye. After doing some research I found how insane and unique the plat was, as well as the fact it was a momentum based time trial game which is one of my favourite genres. I knew immediately I wanted to 100% it.

The game has 5 different worlds, each containing 20 levels, with the last world being an drastic increase in difficulty compared to the prior 4.

 

To begin I had to achieve a 4 star rating or a "perfect" clear on all 100 stages which is achieved by beating a specific time on each stage. I did this on my first casual playthrough simply 4 staring each stage before moving on. There are A LOT of routes the developer did not intend as the movement can easily be manipulated making most stages fairly simple to 4 star. The only level I struggled with was the final level which is FAR more difficult than the prior stages, with almost no cheese routes. After a bit of grinding I finally achieved this run.

After earning perfect on all stages, there were a few misc trophies to clean up which required you to take specific routes through certain levels. After the small cleanup it was time for the first big challenge, the birds legacy trophy. This requires the player to complete the "marathon" challenge in under 20 minutes. The marathon challenge is all 100 levels back to back in order. This Trophy was originally 15 minutes, and I truely believe this game would be a 10/10 difficulty if it was not nerfed by the dev to 20 minutes. I honestly struggled with this step more than the hardcore marathon due to the difficulty curve of going from simply achieving a perfect ranking to clearing the entire game in under 20 minutes, although if I were to try agian now I'd easily achieve it first or second try. After putting in quite a few hours of practice I came up with a consistent enough route to fumble my way through.

Finally all that remained was the final challenge for completing the hardcore marathon. As mentioned above this challenge requires you to clear 30 stages with increasing difficulty, ending with the most difficult stage in the game.

I spent quite a lot of time developing and researching safe strats for all the levels in order to make the run as consistent as possible but even with these safer strategies one small mistake would still cause a fail, and due to the nature of the game no matter how skillful a player is these mistakes are VERY easy to make. Sadly when I was getting quite close to a clear I had to travel to see family for a week and when I got back my consistency had diminished quite a bit. After grinding a few hours for a couple of days after I got back I managed to clear it. Luckily I only had 1 fail on the final level in total as you can imagine how heartbreaking it is to lose a run being so close.

I love that I discovered this game and i'm extremely proud to be one of the three plat achievers at this current time. It's most definitivfely one of the the more difficult 100%'s I've achieved. Thanks to @ExistentialSolid for the videos, which allowed me to copy a few of your lines from. I'll most likely play this game a little longer to grind some stage records off @Cruscah who is rank1 on 90% of stages (no hard feelings <3) due to my sheer enjoyment of the movement mechanics this game has to offer.

 

I'm also swapping out Wuppo for Verlet Swing, unsure if this is still required!

with a lot going on in my life  it took me a while to be able to write another update but here it comes!

first off I finished enter the gungeon. What a great great game. Took me about 150h to get 100%. Could have been quicker but I also unlocked most unlockeables just to discover that I didn’t even finish the story completeley. Now thinking if I should get back into it or play it on switch instead.

 

second I finally finished Rayman legends ps4. It was a long grind but a very fun one. After it was done I kinda missed it and as I also own the game on switch I startet doing the daily challanges there from time to time. I was considering starting the ps3 version but luckily didn’t as the server are beeing shut down soon. Great game and on ps4 there actually is still enough players for the gold requirements to be quiet achieveable.

 

and the third game I wanna report on is little deviants. It was in my backlog for a while after I couldn’t figure out how that forge minigame works. Now I got back into it and I must say I don’t really understand this low rarity. It’s not very difficult and also not very long. According to infame statistics I played 200 games and it took me 18h. That means on average it took me 6,6 runs to get gold which is not even low enough as I made runs purely to get the collectible and for misc. trophies as well. 3rd game cleared.

 

 

Deception IV: Blood Ties (1.13%)

Difficulty: 8/10

Fun: 5/10

Time spent: 80h

 

This is a really obscure game where you place traps all around the room to create long combos in order to kill your enemies. The main scenario is exactly what most of horror movies are: "danger over there? let's go in!" in fact you want to kill some bosses that hold a holy thing, and they are so clever to just go to your location one by one rather than stay away, eventually after collecting all of these things you will resurrect the Devil and finish the game. That's the story more or less, I couldn't be bothered to follow it closely since the narration is super slow where there are 10 sentences in a row stating the same thing.

 

Now, I think the game can be enjoyable, however the platinum trophy is a big pain to achieve. If you don't hold a great patience you can easily end up in throwing your controller, and you will surely hate the game until the end.

Your character is a super weak girl that can only use traps to fight, which means you have to lure the enemies on their location, however this is way easier said than done, since 2 or more enemies will bodyblock each other and you often want to only get one into a combo, not to mention some don't follow you that easily, because there are also archers, shooters, mages, even ninjas that monkey jump all around the place, and several enemies can loop you to death and have very unfair attacks that will destroy you.

You have to clear all the Daemon requests which are secondary goals per chapter, several of them are a super pain to get due to high rng and very stupid goals that are not fun to do at all. There is an alright guide for them, although it is wrong sometimes and does not go in details when needed, it's still a good help anyway.

Also breaking every armor from the enemies is a bit of a pain due to rng and bodyblocking.

After this super stressful run, you have to clear 3 more runs for all the endings, then you jump into Missions mode which are pretty much Daemon requests again, and so again we have some annoying requirements to meet to clear each missions. 100 in total, they feel like grind, hopefully a japan guy has done a helpful yt walkthrough for them.

There are a few other trophies and a final grind for EXP which will take about 6h of a very tedious mission repeated over and over.

Tier 3 finished with Neon Drive.

 

Neon Drive is a 80th synthwave rhythm game in which you control a car on 4 lanes and have to move left and right to avoid obstacles. The game has 8 levels, 3 difficulties and an endurance mode. For the 100% you need to complete all 8 levels on all difficulties without checkpoints (seperately) and you need to survive 5,10 and 15 minutes in endurance mode, 

 

The 3 difficulties, Normal, Hard and Insane, differ in speed of each level and its soundtrack. The obstacles you have to avoid are in sync with the soundtrack, making it crucial for success to move the car according to the rhythm.

Some levels also include gimmick game play mechanics such as a small shmup section or a 2D Jump and Slide parcour.

 

 

I really enjoyed the game and its challenge, the OST was so good that I didnt bother replaying a level hundreds of times (except level 6, that can go to hell). 

Oh, and yet another 2nd fastest achiever, the curse continues. No chance against @Miles record time. ?
