Well, it only took 8 months but I finally got an Ultra Rare platinum done. Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate is in the books. Next I'll be working on Axiom Verge and Street Fighter V. I'm also refreshing my list again to hopefully give me a better chance of actually finishing Tier 1.

Phew! I'm back after a 4 month hiatus on this thread  Sorry about that. 

 

So it's taken 4 months to get my next UR Plat/100%. I have made some decent progress on other games in the these last 4 months but I've also just played games I felt like rather than focusing too much on this event like I may have done last year. I got my new 2TB m.2 drive thanks to Amazon Prime day sales making it cheaper to buy. Cold War can take north of 250GB with all the modes and high resolution texture packs installed on PS5 which is downright criminal! ?

 

With my new found storage solution on PS5, I had a real drive to go back to Cold War and play it all over again. This marks the first CoD game I'm stacking and that's because I have sunk in 150 hours in the Multiplayer and really wanted to play the PS5 version for my CoD fix every now and again. CoD Vanguard is trash so I like to keep one recent game to always go back to and play Multiplayer every now and again. 

 

Unlike most PS5 stacks, Cold War is not an autopop outside of the Multiplayer trophies and a couple of the Zombie trophies. So I had to put a shift in for 80% of the trophies again and I really enjoyed my time playing through the Campaign again. The whole crazy MK Ultra plot and Black Ops conspiracy theory storyline is par for the course for this sub franchise. The Zombies mode is so easy to hunt for trophies now and you can do everything quite comfortably on Solo. The real shit biscuit trophy in this game remains the one for completing Dead Ops Arcade. I can confidently say that the first week of Cold War coming out my life was consumed with Dead Ops and it still remains the hardest thing I think a CoD game has had going for it in terms of a trophy although Blackout mode trophies in Black Ops 4 are harder if you don't boost it. Even with the drop out, drop in exploit at launch, this was an incredibly frustrating trophy that relied heavily on teamwork, voice chat and communication. 

 

Dead Ops has been made significantly easier thanks to a checkpoint system and a permanent first person mode which means you take more hits. I did this all in a day and it still had it's hard moments but it's a shadow of it's former self with how hard the 'reunited with Fidolina' trophy used to be. 

 

The only difficult trophy in Multiplayer is to get a squad wipe medal 10 times in a dead game mode. As you are forced to play 1 certain game mode, this trophy could be the Platinum killer as more time goes on. A boosting session can be setup but it's hard to coordinate in a large scale battle playlist that is only active on certain times of the day. I recommend anyone who is interested in playing Cold War to get on it sooner than later and prioritise the 'Party Patrol' trophy before anything else.

Killzone Shadow Fall done. Nothing particular to say here, it is a decent FPS that managed to feel a tad bit different than the usual.

Multiplayer grind was ok, started early on with @Koro249 so we could spread the grind over several days.

 

This concludes Tier 4 which isn't a thing but I also don't want to continue my endless Tier, so next list will be a clean slate again.

Despite both @Mori & @Koro249 recommending people stay away I decided to tackle this when they announced servers were closing. I don't really like battle royales, but this one always looked interesting and I wanted to increase the genre variety on my profile. I actually enjoyed it a lot more then I thought I would. Both Mori and Koro249 are correct that it takes too long even with the reduced xp requirements, apparently it would have been easier if I had played when battle passes were still available as they gave huge xp boosts. That said I did not mind playing against bots the majority of the time. In fact I think I prefer it over playing vs players. I just don't feel nearly as jaded if I die to a bot due to me being bad, but getting killed by a human that is 100 times better then me makes me rage.

 

The games style and graphics were great compared to many other BR's in my opinion. The costumes also seemed to fit the games style rather then being garish random shit. The spell system was extremely unique and it was refreshing for a competitive game to not feature guns at all. It's a shame that the game never reached its full potential and that the devs will never get a chance to iterate on its design. An action RPG with spellbreaks combat would have been great.

Between all the server closures and me subbing to extra I have not made progress on anything else. But if anyone wants to recommend me some URs on extra feel free.

This is one of those trophy lists that has a certain type of trophy that I label as a "cockblock trophy"(this is copyrighted, do not steal!!1!) .

What is a "cockblock trophy" you ask? It is the single asshole trophy that is put in an otherwise easy trophy list with the sole purpose of keeping you from getting the platinum as nothing but a dirty, cheap chastity belt (think of trophy lists like Wolfenstein II or Vanquish's) . But there's good news! You can glitch said trophy in this game and avoid most of the Perfect Parry fights, so you can bypass said chastity belt and go to town on that asshole trophy and I really regret my poor choice of analogies now. Heh "analogies"... Yeah I'm going to go now.

Another 2nd fastest achiever booked, hell yeah. 8)

 

In Switch Galaxy Ultra you control a ship dashing left and right on several lanes, avoiding coloured gates and enemy ships. Even though I liked the concept in other games, there's one thing missing. It only asks you to pay attention to the visuals, no rhythm whatsoever.

 

The game is very boring, the OST consists of 6 or 7 tracks and you have to play all 50 levels twice. Lovely. You don't need to perfect a level, you can mostly just tank errors and it becomes this repeated experience for all levels. Also, you gain speed but at some point you are too fast and have to manually brake and I really, really disliked this mechanic. In my opinion this does not suit this genre at all.

 

Survival trophies can be cheesed in Multiplayer mode, I forgot the name, but its not called survival, still works though and is much easier than the actual Survival mode. 

Some misc trophies that should pop naturally while playing story mode.

Cleared multiple games from my UR backlog.

1. Mortal Blitz - EU stack * 4.97% when I have added it to my tier.

   Mortal Blitz is a VR (Virtual Reality) game, mostly about shooting stuff and abusing the slow motion which can be activated when an enemy is damaged to a certain point and you use Gravity Gloves to pull the enemy into air and shoot him for points and health,reload your weapons or be smart and use that time to shoot his friends which have interest in killing you.
   Generally a very easy to understand game with no motion sickness, and a simple trophy list.
   Developers have added a perma death difficulty to the game, so they made the platinum go from a 4/10 to a good 7/10. ( Should be possible to depatch to 1.0.0 and make it easier if anyone is interested in free Ultra Rare platinums, although I had a lot of fun doing the perma-death, it isnt very difficult if you use the tehnique I posted on the games forums here on PSNP)
   I generally loved the game, can propably guess it since I finished 2 of the 4 stacks and its spinn-of game which I will talk about in a sec.
   Developers seem to not understand english very well ,so game has quite a lot of funny translation problems, and the name in fact doesnt make sense, but it does sound cool.
   Also: Pretty lady with weird Jiggle Physics.
   
   Mortal Blitz: Combat Arena
   Free 2 Play PVP focused game thats 100% pay 2 win. Game litteraly lets you buy damage and health boosts and many other performance enhanching buffs.
   Generally seems ok for a few hours of screwing around with friends, but trophy wise it needs to be boost with at least 3 people in the match, 4 would be ideal.
   Bots are quite good, and random people still play the game for some reason.
   Bit of RNG with weapon spawns and your friends rushing toward you to get x amount of x type of kills with x weapon.
   No platinum ,but for 4 hours of boosting 4-5 URs with pretty good percentages seems alright.
   
   Rick & Morty: Virtual Rickality - NA stack
   Clone Morty is mostly stuck in Ricks garage, helping him do weird stuff with the end goal of making Super-Hyper Most powerfull detergent ever.
   Most of the game comes down to crafting a bunch of shit, and using the "Combiner" to combine different items from Ricks garage, and some minor puzzles.
   Overall game is mostly a 3/10, but devs though it would be really funny to put a few 6/10 trophies in there just for fun.
   Trophy guide is quite outdated and uses an old exploit for these trophies and put the difficulty at 3/10 ,7 hours , which on this version is just not correct.
   Possible to depatch to 1.0.0 if you wish. I didnt, did it legit for both EU and NA stack. Generally took me 45 minutes for each of these trophies.
   Game isnt bad , but there are deffinetlly better games for people looking for these type of experiences. ( Trover Saves The Universe - made by Rick & Morty creator and voice actor, with the same humor as R & M)

Quick update on Tier 1.

 

Finished Fallen Legion. The action RPG battle system was pretty easy to cheese after a while. It is a matter of finding the combo/character pairings that best suit your style and get a little lucky with the gem drops. 

 

Also, completed Thumper. Great game. It took me a while to get accustomed to the "Simon Says" rhythm game play.  You always here the upcoming obstacles as they are popping up, allowing you to anticipate your motions and replicate the order and timing of the sounds you hear in front of you. It took me too long to realize headphones were almost a requirement and VR greatly improved capturing the coming sequences. Each chapter had "choruses" which were cycles of obstacles that repeated, rewarding a bit or sequence recognition and memorization. As the chapters went on, the game felt like it got easier. Certainly, there were individual levels that I had to repeat multiple times, but they felt progressively less daunting. I think I felt the peak of being overwhelmed in Chapter 5, as the mechanics kept piling on and I was still feeling like I had not quite mastered the prior mechanic the game introduced. Very satisfying to finish it up and get thru the final boss. 

 

I booted up Gun Club to find it was much more like a range simulator and less of a gallery shooter. Also, aren't the controls counter-intuitive? Why force to aim and then press the "x" button on the move controller to select an option? Do the ranges require movement like in the "Sandbox"? Am I overthinking this one? All I want is to mindlessly shoot stuff in VR, so I am swapping it out for Operation Warcade.

Had a busy week with 3 more completions

 

Entwined was a pretty decent game. You have to control 2 birds with the 2 sticks individually and basically go through an obstacle course where you have to go through all the gates in a level to not get hit. The story mode has a lot of leniency, where if you get hit a few times, you will only lose a bit of progress towards finishing the level, but in challenge mode you only get 3 lives and have to survive 2-3 minutes. Initially I just played the game on Vita and was having fun at first, but the last challenge was quite annoying, as I kept dying with often no idea how I should've moved better. In the end I got fed up and switched to PS4, where I had to unlock all challenges again to get a shot at the fourth one. Luckily the game felt much easier on PS4, and I got all challenges done in like 30 minutes, so overall it wasn't that bad, I just recommend not sticking to Vita if you want to play this lol.

 

Not a whole lot to say about Brawlout tbh. It's mostly just (semi) afk grind, with a bunch of easy misc trophies and of course the 3 arcade towers. The towers were pretty annoying, especially as I never really play Smash games or clones (except Kung Fu Panda I guess, but I got the plat last year by just mashing square for 90% of it ?), so it took a bit to get used to playing this. Luckily you can save scum these towers after every match, so while that can still be pretty tedious, it wasn't nearly as hard as it could've been. I just went with the easy tower first, and that was probably actually the hardest for me as I was learning to play the game. When I had the strategy down for it and got a decent feel for when to use the downwards attack, the game became much easier, even on hard. So all in all not a hard game, but also not a very fun one.

 

Not Not was a pretty fun and quick puzzle game. You basically get increasingly complex instructions on which direction you should go on a cube, while the timer (around 1-3 seconds) can get very short too on harder levels. I got through about half the levels before the instructions got so long that I could barely read it in time before the timer ran out, so that's when I had to start using the pause exploit, just to be able to process what I was reading ?. After finishing all the levels, there's also endless mode, getting to around 100 is fairly doable, but when getting close to 200 it's extremely tight even with pause exploiting.. no idea how people should be able to do that legit lol. Also gotta love a pointless X amount of deaths trophy where you're only 10% of the way through after finishing the game, so just had to turbo that for a while. Overall I do recommend this game if you want something unique for 2 hours.

Far be it from me to stop you from busting out Tiers ? Created Tier 4 and Tier 5 (just like last year, did not expect anyone to machine gun UR games).

A Pixel Story (1.89%)

Difficulty: 8/10

Fun: 7/10

Time spent: about 30h

 

 

This is a rather enjoyable platform game where you make your way through a total of 6 worlds, clearing a few quests and collecting some memory gems to progress in the story, which can take a bit of time to clear the first time due to exploration. Overally it's a short game since the story is the only mode you can play along with a challenge mode through the challenge rooms.

The trophy list can keep you longer in the game as you have to do pretty much everything: in story mode you have to get every collectible, clear every quest, finish every challenge room (which offer hard platforming sections that can easily make you rage quit the first time you play them) and some miscellaneous.

 

The only difficult trophy requires you to clear the "challenge room challenge", which makes you play through all of the 15 challenge rooms in one run (in a random order), with only 5 lives per room. This is pretty tough since this game has the hardest momentum control I have ever experienced, especially when using springs, you need almost frame perfect adjustments to pass through several jumps/launches. You can pause-exploit to improve your precision, however the trophy is still hard to obtain, so expect several hours of practice and failed runs.

EDIT: forgot to add you also need to beat the dev's speedrun time in story mode, the time is generous enough but not much, I think I have beat it for no more than 3min, I did plenty of mistakes in some hard sections.

Axiom Verge 4.96% 8/17/2022

 

Second game done! Really enjoyed this. Not sure why I let it sit in the backlog for 7 years. The 100% run took me about 15 hours and then the low % speedrun took another 2. Got stuck on the speedrun a few times and had to repeat a couple different 20 minute segments between saves, but it wasn't too bad overall. Definitely on the easier side of Ultra Rare plats.

 

Still chipping away at SFV and I'll probably start on Lone Survivor next to keep the Vita love going.

Atari Flashbacks vol 2 was pretty annoying, mainly because it had fewer enjoyable games than volume 1, and also because Missile Command was quite a bit harder than anything in volume 1 too, so it was more annoying experience overall. Just like vol. 1 though, all the tricky trophies can easily be save scummed to a heavy degree, but the frequency of downloading cloud saves made it quite tedious nonetheless. 

 

Nidhogg was really shit imo. The game suffers from a lack of dropped inputs, somewhat inconsistent physics and AI opponents who care more about taunting you than trying to win, making a succeful run way more frustrating than it needs to be. This was honestly one of the most rage inducing games I've played in a very long time, and even that 0.40% trophy didn't make me feel better about it..

 

Also trimmed down my tier 3 list to 10 games, now that a tier 4 and 5 have been added again ?

I'll probably swap out Oddworld for something else, so that I can hopefully finish up this tier by the end of the month.

I followed the video below. Mainly used the regular gun and the Kilver. If you use the video as a reference, the 20-ish minutes after getting the Nova is the toughest part. You run through like 3 different areas and fight a few bosses, but you don't want to save anywhere because you skip getting the Grapple. Normally you wouldn't be able to get back to the starting area without it, but quitting to the title warps you back. The other tough part was the wasp boss, but you save right before fighting it so you can quit and retry as many times as you need.

Everybody's Golf All 31 Trophies 18th August 2022 • Platinum in 1 month, 4 weeks PS4

 

Got it done before Server Closes September 30th.  First Golf Game completed, I enjoyed it.  Plan to get back to the Vita version. 

 

It was easier to hit Ultra Spins than Super Spin. Homing/Backspin works for both Super and Ultra. Spiral Trophy only works Super Spin. 

 

Spiral was a pain to time, done it on Online Par 3 course Hole 2 in Kan Beach.

The good thing about Shotgun Farmers is that every trophy is doable in private matches and with bots. To get the platinum you have to get a lot of kills with each weapon, that's fun at the beggining (where you can play with any of the weapons), but end up being quite boring at the end. I liked the idea of the game, your bullets are seeds and if you shoot the ground a plant will grow with the weapon in it, if I played this game as a kid I would definetely put some time in it.

Completed 3 more games for my Tier 3 : 

 

 

• After a tiny notice of 21 days and some change, Killzone Shadow Fall shut down a few days ago on August 12th. I had completed all the multiplayer trophies in due time and just needed to tackle on the single player part. It was my first Killzone and the one that introduced me to the series, I missed out on the trilogy and the subsequent shutdown a few years ago, silly me for not using PSNP sooner to be kept up to date with the announcements. I had to dig in some YouTube videos in order to have some backstory on what went down in the trilogy since the events of Shadow Fall are happening 30 years after the ending of Killzone 3. I really enjoyed the single player story. The level design is very diverse and colorful which wasn't always the case on previous entries judging by the videos I watched. You can tell that Guerrilla made good use of the new hardware driving the series and freshened it up a bit. All in all, the game still looks great in 2022, even for a launch title. At first, the very short notice almost drove me away but I'm glad I went for it and was able to get it done in time. 
• Rigs: Mechanized Combat League is another game that was part of that ridiculous 21 days notice from Guerrilla. It's a VR first person sports shooter where the players take control of large mechs known as the rigs and fight each other in open arenas in a professional sports competition set several years in the future. The matches are 5 minutes long divided into two halves, where 3v3 players are driving their own rigs and fight each other in order to score the most points. There are 3 game types : Team Takedown where the winner is the one with the most takedowns, PowerSlam where you need to score enough takedowns to go into overdrive (which is basically a super mode where all your abilities are active at the same time) and score by going through a ring in the middle of the arena while the overdrive is active, and Endzone, which follows the same rules as American football, you need to grab a holographic ball and score by going through the opponents' goalposts. This was my first VR game and I experienced motion sickness for the first time in my life not even 2h in when I started ? It was bad, I felt nauseous, had a headache and was about to throw up. But after a few session I got used to the feeling and was able to manage it. My other problem is that since I have long curly hair, it gets stuck in the headset so it always feels like I'm ripping out my head every time I take it off ? But it was a fun experience nonetheless haha 
• As a Cali guy, I couldn't miss out on Driver San Francisco, so when I heard about all the games shutting down on September 1st, Driver was first in line. The main reason why is I wanted to see how faithful the Bay Area was depicted in the game. With the Assassin's Creed games, Ubisoft proved that they can reproduce a whole city very accurately, so I wanted to see how they fared on this one. And even tho it's not as good as Rockstar recreating Los Angeles in GTA V, the depiction of San Francisco and the neighboring Bay Area cities like Oakland was still pretty good. Driver San Francisco is a unique type of racer because it allows you to shift into any car on the road from a bird eye point of view. Let's say you're driving a car chasing some bad guys and you're left behind, you can press X which will bring an up above view of the road, you can than press on in another car and you'll shift into it, taking control of the driver. You can use this gameplay feature to make a lot of missions way easier. Instead of focusing on driving fast and cornering accurately, you can opt to send oncoming traffic into the opponents and take them out or block routes with a truck for example. The online features a lot of modes where you can also make good use of the shifting ability. Driver San Francisco allows you to use real world licensed cars like the Lamborghini Murcielago and they are all well reproduced which was a pleasant surprise too. On the other hand, I felt like the game was at its worst when it tried to be a straightforward racing game. The handling can be over the top sometimes and the cars have a frustrating tendency of drifting at every turn. It's fun when you're messing around in the city, not so much when you're trying to beat a time trial or finish a race. The game was an enjoyable experience without accounting for those frustrating mechanics nonetheless ?

 

This concludes my streak of 6 shutdown games in a row from Ghost Recon Future Soldier to Driver San Francisco. I don't have any other shutdown game I have to work on so I can finally have some freedom haha. I'm probably gonna start the online grind of Far Cry 2 next. The game was down for 4 months and it's a miracle it's back up and running so I don't want to miss out on it. I also need to work on the Most Wanted Games of the quarter. My newest game clear - Fantasy Strike.

A free 2 Play fighting game in the style of Street Fighter with minor cell shading and cartoony graphics.
Requires a 20 Euro character pack for base game trophies and the platinum. The pack does ocasionally go on sale and the game is a 4/10 ,10 hours if anyone is interested in 20+ Ultra Rares with a 0.65% platinum.
Overall, it isnt as tedius as I was expecting with the friend invite exploit ( when low on health friend invites you to a match, you accept, go back to your survival mode, and gain a portion of your health back, not a glitch or anything, its just how the devs intended it to work.)
You do use the exploit a lot for this game, but it wasnt that bad since you still need to get somewhat good to beat it and be 100% focused on the game.
I personally wouldnt play this out of fun, but with the addition of rare trophies it wasnt that bad.

Axiom Verge [NA] - 100% COMPLETE

Played this one on Vita. Took me two playthroughs. First one being a hard mode 100% run, which took me 10 hours and 40 minutes. Second being a low percent speedrun that took me 1 hour and 50 minutes. Though the speedrun probably took me twice as long in actuality because of how many times I had to retry certain sections. I was also way too conservative with item pickups in my speedrun. The low percent requires less then 40% of them picked up, I only picked up 24%, so I was fairly weak for the back half of the game.

 

Okay, so how was the actual game? Well, its style and theming was right up my alley. Its reminiscent of both the original metroid and super metroid. Being alone on an alien world with futuristic tech is surprisingly not very common in the metroidvania genre anymore. The first half of the game was really great in my opinion. The platforming was solid, enemies were varied and fun to fight and the music was immersive (shout out to the low health beep matching the beat of the music in each area). It was a joy to find new abilities not knowing what they would be, and the weapon variety was great. The early game also does a really good job of explain how things worked naturally through gameplay without needing to do tutorial popups.The bosses were just okay, nothing special.

 

The second half of the game kind of fell apart for me though. The solid platforming is replaced with just the same drone teleport jumps over and over again. Enemies stop being varied and becoming flying enemies that stays above you shooting, or flying enemies that try to ram into you. Bosses become even worse, either more tedious to fight or straight up health checks because you can't reliably dodge their attacks (looking at you sentinel). There are also a few points in the game where the only way forward is to find an obscure room with an obscure hidden platform, which can be easy to overlook without looking up where to go. Obviously that won't be an issue for everyone, especially if they have played a lot of metroidvania's but I thought it worth mentioning.

 

As far as trophies, the only reason this is ultra rare is because I think people are scared by the speedrun or just don't bother with save scumming the no death trophy. Its not actually hard at all, as evident by the EU version not being ultra rare.

 

I do hear that Axiom Verge 2 fixes a lot of the issues I had with the back half of the game, so I will give it a go at some point. But overall the issues I had brought down what would have been an excellent game to just an okay one. Worth playing if you are a fan of the genre for sure, still has a lot of fun in it. I probably would recommend other games over this to people new to the genre though.

Fantasy Strike All 43 Trophies 20th August 2022 • Platinum in 3 days, 16 hours

 

Just completed Fantasy Strike. My rarest platinum, but it was very easy with the Friend Match Exploit & using Onimaru.

 

Fantasy Strike is F2P, but the Survival Mode and few other trophies are locked behind Core Value Pack.

 

You can boost this with an alt (I used Steam version). Did not need to buy Core Value pack for the alt account, or boost with friend. Only Main account that needs the trophies, need Core Value Pack.

Swapping out Unravel 2 for Killzone Shadowfall. I already have all the online trophies in Shadowfall and what I need now is the Elite difficulty trophy which is UR. Will go for this after Cloudberry Kingdom.

 

Speaking of Cloudberry Kingdom I’ve made progress: I’m so happy to say that I’ve finally beaten level 319 after many and many hours of practice! ?
 

All that’s left now is 320 which is still going to be very tough so I’m not letting my guard down.

My last COD entry for the event, I'm now one trophy away from getting all the attainable trophies in the franchise and, unless it's something absurd, it's very unlikely that I won't be able to get 100% in the first month after launch in new ones. Since I had finished the PS4 version of AW last year I knew exactly what I was going for, that made things a lot easier. The campaign is meh and easy because you can upgrade your exo to have more health and stuff like that. Exo Zombies is cool, I like how the movement works in AW, one thing that I don't like are the special zombies (specially EMZs). The amount of URs is not equivalent to the difficulty, but I'll take it.
