Finally wrapped up Tier 1. 

 

Sonic Forces was mostly fun. A couple of the boss levels were a pain to complete in the time limit. Game probably got a poorer reception than it deserved. 

Knocked out Rez Infinite. Thin rail shooter with a grindy, repetitive trophy list. It was pretty brutal to run thru the game 6 times for a single trophy. Even at about 1 hour long, it was too much.

Also knocked out Littlebigplanet 3. Glitchy, crashy, unstable. But fun with a friend.

Also, yeahhh... Haven't been making much progress myself since I started playing Crypt of the Necrodancer... That has been eating up most of my game time! That and playing PS5 stuff that isn't UR ? Ah well, better luck next year!

Since my last post I’ve completed two more games. I started playing Torment: Tides of Numenera with the intention of doing a single playthrough with a few reloads but the guide I was using had me completing quests in ways that I really didn’t want to so I reloaded a save near the start and played through the game how I wanted to while getting every trophy that I could. I then went back and did one more playthrough for the remaining trophies. The game was decent enough but wasn’t quite what I was hoping it would be.

 

And today I got the platinum for Outlast 2. I played the first game a few years back and absolutely loved it. It was the first horror/survival game I had played and not being able to fight back made it that much more tense. It is also the only game that I have played that was genuinely scary. Outlast 2 however was the complete opposite. It wasn’t even remotely scary and with the amount of running/walking it was 50% horror/survival and 50% walking simulator. I did a blind playthrough first then followed that up with a run on Nightmare difficulty. After some practice on some of the tougher sections I spent about 10 or 11 hours on Friday playing on Insane difficulty (Nightmare difficulty + perma-death) and was still unable to get past chapter 2.  This morning I started fresh and  got past chapter 2 and was within 15 minutes of completing the game. All I had left were 2 easy to escape chases then watch the final scenes. Unfortunately I opted not to keep night vision on for an underground chase (instead blinking it on and off) and ended up getting turned around which got me killed which was very demoralising. I started another playthrough and was able to complete it this time thus getting me the platinum.

 

I have also changed around what games I’ll be playing over the next few months so I’m going to swap Divinity: Original Sin out (still hoping it goes on sale at some point even though it hasn’t been for over 2 years now) and swap Little Nightmares in.

Done with my 7th game for the event, Call of Duty Black Ops 3! This was a long one! ?



I'm quite proud to finally have it done! Since this CoD installment was developed by Treyarch, BO3 is known for having some of the best Zombies gameplay in the series. A neat new addition to this game are the "gobblegums", which serve as temporary power-ups to aid you in your rounds. You've got the classic gums which offer simple, yet helpful abilities like being unseen by zombies for a short period, alongside transferring your points into ammunition. Then you've got the megas, where you have ones like Perkaholic that give you all perks instantly! ? What I like a ton about it is that you can choose whether you want to use them or not. I believe the only Easter Egg that specifically requires a gobblegum is the Anywhere But Here classic gum. Apart from that, you can choose not to use any if you want a more traditional Zombies experience. One of my favourite maps is Shadows of Evil, starring 4 new characters in a jazzy urban town as you fight eldritch horrors, with some sweet brass instruments playing along for each round. Starring a magician who killed his wife, a boxer who cheated to win, an up and coming celebrity who murdered to stay on top, and a detective, the four come across an enigmatic figure, the "Shadow Man", who tasks them with fighting against the Keepers, an unknown alien race, in order to power the Summoning Key, a spherical stone with untold power. As it turns out, this Shadow Man is the overarching villain of the BO3 Zombies maps, with Richtofen eventually coming in to swoop the Summoning Key and joining the other three, Nikolai, Dempsey and Takeo as they search for their Ultimis counterparts for a specific goal...

If that all sounded confusing, that's how you know it's Zombies! ?

Along that, you've got the Multiplayer, with gameplay that I could compare to Titanfall 2, where you can boost jump and run across walls and zip around. It's definitely more acrobatic than other installments, especially the MW2 Beta that's currently happening, but this is of course since BO3 takes a more futuristic tone. Of which, the campaign sees you control an unnamed main character, who is equipped with a DNI, a Direct Neural Interface, after a brutal incident in the first mission. A DNI essentially acts as a cybernetic enhancement that lets you connect with electronics, gauge where enemies are... and peer into the last memories of dying soldiers... I won't spoil the story here, but it is ambitious in what it sets out to do. Definitely a more divisive story by the fans, but I actually respect the overall idea it was going for. If anything, it reminded me a ton of Cyberpunk 2077 actually.

And then you've got Realistic... Hoo boy, this was something. MW2 (the original one) and CoD 4 each had their own brutal Veteran difficulties where you fight tons of enemies in small corridors, or face grenade spam... But BO3 takes the cake in my opinion. In Realistic, a single shot downs you. Paired with BO3 missions being some of the longer ones in the series, and you've got the ingredients for a very angry cake! ? Or any other meal that radiates frustration... Uh, I don't know where I'm going with this...

In any case, the guide has the base game trophies as an 8/10, but I reckon I'll have to place it as an 8.5/10. I was considering maybe a 9, which would absolutely be the case if Zombies Easter Eggs had to be solo, but you can do them all with up to a group of 4 people, including yourself. When you've got people for Zombies, it can actually be a lot of fun, so I think overall the Zombies trophies with a group would settle around an 8/10 experience, but coupled with Realistic difficulty, I think it gets pushed to an 8.5/10 for me.

A great game, although it is definitely a long one! Next up is WipEout Omega Collection. This'll be the last hard one for me I reckon. In any case, it's good to have another one done, and best of luck to everyone else so far!

Hey all, just swapping in Animal Super Squad. It has URs and will likely become unobtainable on the 30th of September this year, so I'll be doing those online trophies really soon. It's been a bit of a shutdown season for me, I finished Striker's Edge, Disc Jam, Hyperbrawl Tournament and Onrush, and now Animal Super Squad is next. Out of those, only Hyperbrawl Tournament had UR trophies, exactly... had. Since a lot of people completed it because of the shutdown, previously having 2 achievers, it was no longer UR by the time I went to write about it here, so I'm not making that mistake again

Just finished Gunhouse.

 

Fun game to play in-between games or when watching TV/Youtube.

 

A lot of grinding, need to get to day 101 (which 300 levels). Each day has 3 levels (Noon, Dusk, and Night).

 

There a boss at each night. 

 

Level 1-10 enemies and bosses repeat at 11-20 and so on.

And another game is done. MX vs ATV All Out does not deserve it's UR status, it only has this rarity because of the 16 player trophy. Remove this trophy and you have a Very Rare to Rare rarity platinum, remove the collectibles and the platinum becomes an Uncommon. You can do everything on Beginner mode which makes the game a joke, it's harder to lose on purpose than coming in first place.

 

On another note, did some more progress at F13. Only missing boat repairs and match grinds now. I believe I'm at 400+ completed matches right now, with 35+ hours done.

 

With that said, will use another swap and switch Thumper with Xeodrifter (the EU PS4 list).

I'm back again with another update  

 

This time I finished Animal Super Squad, a fun 2d platformer/adventure game that can potentially get frustrating quickly, mostly those bonus levels... Overall, it's fun, you play as a chicken (with the possibility of unlocking 4 more animals later) that can use interesting vehicles like a toilet seat with wheels and a turbo funcionality, or a toaster powered machine. Upon taking damage the vehicles will turn into a pair of wheels that you can also use and they are a little different, or you can go on foot, or rather, rolling. When you take damage you will turn into a bawl of fried chicken or a chicken leg and move around like that.

I completed the EU version (there's NA too) that now has 5 100% achievers. It will have more, but not many more, because the servers are supposed to shutdown tomorrow AND you have to mess with version updates since the trophies are glitched, and it's a headache trying to unlock them. Only 5 trophies work on the latest patch, 1.04, out of 17!

So I had to learn how to get digital games to their 1.00 version using a program and a guide from these forums. This step was incredibly easy, and it will definitely come in handy for the recent PS+ game Granblue Fantasy Versus that also needs downgrading unless you want to pay like 70€ of dlc characters to unlock the plat. This unlocked 7 more trophies, so 12 out of 17. What about the other 5? It turns out that they are not obtainable on version 1.00 nor on 1.04. This meant that I had to use a slight variation of the process described in the guide to downgrade FFXV to a specific version, to do just that with Animal Super Squad, and get the game to download patch 1.03 instead of 1.04, on which version the rest of the trophies are actually obtainable. This is done by switching URLs with another program and connecting to the internet via proxy (your PC) (Both methods required the proxy actually). And I had to figure out why it wasn't working... etc.

 

Phew! And I did all that for ASS  

 

This game's 100% club will remain an exclusive one. I'd be surprised if more than 20 people get the full completion on either version.

In Grip: Combat Racing, your vehicles drive at such high speeds that you generate enough downforce to keep you bound to racetracks that constantly swirl, twist and flip to encourage you to drive at extreme angles. Many tracks feature massive half-pipes for mile-long sweeping corners where you often find yourself exiting on the roof driving upside-down - a perfectly viable strategy. Massive jumps, boost pads and weapon pick ups are separated by massive cylindrical tubes that force you to perform high-speed corkscrews while dodging enemy attacks. The game aims for a mix of Wipeout-style combat and aesthetics with driving physics like PS1’s Rollcage for gameplay that evokes podracing.

 

The extreme speeds that you’re required to maintain to stay competitive (<700km/h) does not mix well with the sharp turns, jutting rocks and other obstacles that consistently jump out and stop your progress. The result is stop-start racing where you do your best to get up to full speed before you involuntarily carom off of a wall or tree root and have to start again. 

 

Disguised as an arcade/combat racer, Grip is secretly a pinball game where you are the pinball. 

 

 

I was forced to drive the default vehicle throughout the entire campaign as I was unable to handle anything faster. The campaign is unrealistically difficult with severe rubber-banding issues. It took me approx 40 hours to complete the campaign. A shoehorned platforming mode is required to be mastered for trophies as well. The hardest two levels are self-labelled as 'nightmare difficulty' which is apt because this game was not built with platforming in mind. An endgame grind is also required: 1000 laps completed (I had 250 completed after the campaign) and 250 enemies obliterated (I don’t think that I had 50 by the end of the campaign). These requirements are after a patch that decreased the requirements from 10,000 laps and 1,500 kills. 

 

All in all: a below-average execution of a fun idea which was further undermined by poor trophy awareness.  

 

In other news: I have reached the Expert row of levels in N++ so I hope to plat that by the end of October. Also during Hallowe'en month: Slain. I'm swapping out the miserable experience that is Clustertruck so that I can end Tier 1 with something fun: Super Time Force Ultra.

8/10.

I don't recommend it for this event. Too many hours to complete (70+).

20 of those require pretty low-level grindy brainpower, 30hrs require active effort and 20hrs involve banging your head against the wall.

 

For a casual experience, there's a fun 5-10 hours right at the beginning that I'd recommend if you like what you see in the trailer, but not for completion.

Another update from me, finished 2 games this time.

 

Dragon Ball FighterZ was pretty fun, even though the story was pretty garbage. I tried getting through ranked legit for a bit, but at about 200k BP I got tired of it and decided to just boost the rest, which only took about 8 hours, so really not too bad. I did have some issues with the S rank trophy in arcade mode, but that was mostly cause I was actually trying to play as if I was online, button mashing worked much better. Overall a pretty easy UR plat.

 

Oddworld New n Tasty was also pretty fun. I followed a guide in order to get save all 299 mudokons right away, so can't say much about the difficulty of the puzzles (though most didn't seem hard at all), but apart from a couple slightly tricky sections, it was very easy. The 3 hour speedrun is also very generous, as I got it with 30 minutes to spare, while also dying a bunch of times, plus having to backtrack one time as I forgot a secret area..

Made some decent progress into Tier 2. Knocked out 4 games. Thinking I can get Tier 2 completed before the end of the year. 

 

Lords of the Fallen - I had knocked out most of this one during Tier 1, just had the final playthru to finish up. The game was tedious and repetitive. I really do hope this is on the lower end of the Souls-like game quality. 

 

Lone Survivor - I had no idea what this game was before starting. It was kind of a survival horror, but there was little resource management. You are not defenseless as you do pick up a gun early on. I guess this one is more of a spooky adventure with some action elements. Overall, it was a decent game for what it is. For the plat, you have to knock out several endings that are mutually exclusive. Thankfully the game is pretty short. 

 

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty - I probably enjoyed this one the most out of the four games I finished up.  It is a puzzle platformer. Instead of collecting coins or stars, you free corporate meat slaves. I had never played any game in this franchise before, so I have to say that I am pretty impressed by this remake. Even the speed run trophy isn't too bad, because you can improve each chapter time individually instead of running the entire game again. Very pleasant experience. Might dig up another Oddworld game soon.

 

Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition - This should have been more fun. I am a fan of twin stick, arcade style shooters, but this one felt a bit off balance. In order to aim, meaning to use the right stick to direct your shot, you sacrifice a fair amount of speed. During a few sequences in the game on Morbid difficulty, loss of speed is a death sentence.  The two difficulty spikes slap you silly at the end of the Graveyard level and at the end of the game. On higher difficulties, you are rewarded with bullet sponges for enemies, which just slowed the game down so much that it because more of a tactical shooter. Run out, get some enemies' attention, run back to a choke point to shoot fish in a barrel. Rinse and repeat ad nauseum. Playing in co-op should also have been more fun. Attempted Grim difficulty (middle difficulty out of 5) with a buddy and it was even slower than solo on a higher difficulty. So.many.bullets. 

 

Next up is probably Zombi. Keeps up my creepy, spooky game theme from the last few games. No swaps at this time.

Three years and three months. Three fucking years and the last gold on this finally fucking popped. Words cannot describe the elation and shock I felt when I set up my next 13-hour session of this, checked my trophy list before switching the TV off, and found the list actually sitting at 100% with the little next to the percentage.

 

This also happens to be my rarest platinum yet at 0.23% (likely to go up to 0.27% or 0.28% once the rarity gets updated, which is still well below my previous record of 0.42%), a record that is unlikely to be challenged any time soon.

 

As for what the PS3 I was using for this will be used for, I dunno. There are definitely some self-boosts that this opens up now that self-boosting doesn't take out my pachinko PS3 for the duration of the boost, which has definitely caused me to put off some stuff I've wanted to get around to such as Brain Challenge, TV Show King, etc. That said, I doubt I'll be getting to them any time soon since I have other stuff I'm working on (mainly getting through the five stacks of Azur Lane Crosswave to pad out my Compile Heart plats before year's end and also finishing off the remaining two PES 2014 stacks) and I don't wanna put it off considering time is slimmer what with back-to-work putting me out of commission gaming-wise from Monday to Wednesday now. Chances are I'm just gonna let the good ol' Super Slim take a well-deserved rest until I finally need it again considering that aside from instances of having to move it around and a roughly 6-month period where I didn't bother with the game, it's been running non-stop.

Finished Override: Mech City Brawl.

 

Gonna swap out Fist of the North Star for this game, but will definitely still be trying to get it done before Q4 ends.
