Tennis is an interesting sport, I had no idea about the rules, movements, point system or anything else before playing this game, and since I've never played another tennis game (other than Wii Sports at some point when I was younger) I don't even have a comparison quality wise, all I have to say is that it was very fun. There's one trophy that's considered hard, to 100% the school of tennis, but shouldn't take that long since you can just keep trying the challenges. The biggest issue with the list is that it's very grindy, most trophies are doable in ~25 hours (not that bad, right?) but then there's This is mine?, a trophy that requires you to buy every piece of equipment in the game, expect at least 100 hours of playtime if you are going for this trophy normally, thankfully there's an exploit to farm coins restoring a save file at the end of a tourney over and over (an extremelly boring proccess that takes ~10 hours).

... and it was great! Slain is a side-scrolling action game that combines 'risk vs reward'-based combat with platforming elements. This is the first time that I've played a game that isn't developed by FromSoftware where my main takeaway was: "holy shit - it's like Dark Souls" without that conclusion being ironic... it's just a simpler version of a soulslike-game on a 2D plane without backtracking and level grinding. This could probably pass as a "My First Soulslike" experience for others, although the PSNP guide's estimation of a 5/10 difficulty, 3 playthroughs and 12 hour completion time is grossly inaccurate. It took me twice as long and I'd give the game an 7/10 difficulty rating at bare minimum.

 

 

Trophies include:

- defeating every boss without taking any damage from them at all (checkpoint restarts can be applied),

- a playthrough without dying (save scumming can be applied),
- a playthrough without using any mana,

and various other feats. That was the order in which I completed three separate playthroughs (plus a fourth playthrough before any of them so that I could enjoy the game blind). You just have to be "on" when playing this game for the first few playthroughs instead of "switching off."

 

Slain's graphical style and a soundtrack featuring power chording guitars/synths/operatic chants are an ode to METAL. Check out the 'boss slain' headbanging move that you can do!

A Pixel Story

My initial thoughts: What a charming game! This is a puzzle platformer, and a very fun one at that! And after Super Meat Boy Forever, I really needed something fun... 

 

After my initial blind playthrough I cleaned everything up, backed up my save, got the true ending, followed up with a full-game speedrun in less than 1:30h and then re-downloaded my save to be able to practice all 15 challenge rooms on my original playthrough. Then I started going for the only challenging part of the game: A gauntlet of all 15 challenge rooms, in randomized order, with 5 lives per room. 

 

I was expecting this to take many hours of practice, but yesterday, during the one hour I had after lunch (while my son was napping...), I fired up the game just to practice a bit and... got a clear ? I had only practiced the rooms for 3-4 h at that point, so I made many silly mistakes in my run and died in many rooms due to the lack of practice. But hey, why complain  

 

 

 

As for the remaining games... We are making progress in Victor Vran, but it will still take a while... We're ~25h in and are currently cleaning up the remaining normal and elite challenges in the base game, then we'll move on to the DLC. 

 

As for Bleed... Not sure if I'm ready to go back to that game yet. Maybe I'll swap it for something else.. I'm thinking Velocity 2X, maybe something else.. We'll see!

I'm happy to report that Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 is now complete! I was really lucky to find someone I could connect with to do co-op which is notoriously difficult with the servers being so bad. I believe this is my third game in Tier 2, though I admit I've lost count so I'm not too sure!

Got done my South American Become a Legend run today. Now to start on the Asian BAL run. Might be able to do it all between tonight and tomorrow before I have to do my three days of office work for the week, but it depends on how willing I am to go through 18 or so matches in a row, so it might bleed into Thursday night and Friday as well. Would definitely like to have it done prior to the weekend though since while Master League is just a bunch of piss-easy simming, it's a good several hours of simming and I'd like to be able to do that all in one or two sittings.

 

EDIT: 6 matches into the Asian BAL run. Noticing that Player Rating isn't quite as easy to come by in the NA version for some reason. Was able to get 9s consistently in JP by just contributing to every goal in a game, but I've done that a couple times here on NA and still managed 8.5 Player Rating on said games. Not sure if there are other factors I'm missing or if there's just a regional difference for some reason. Also not sure how much this affects my ability to get the trophy. Hoping it doesn't really matter much and I can still get it done first try since this is pretty much the most boring run in the game what with all the matches that actually have to be played as opposed to coaching or outright simming.

But first, as usual (lol) my excuses: My PC was desperately needing upgrading and fixing, which is the main reason I was unable to make proper posts in this thread (and over at the recent plats thread) , I got both plats 1.5 months ago after all.

Also, I've mentioned before that my PS3 was dead and if you guys are like me, you'll understand that platinum milestones are sacred and years ago I planned to have Catherine (EU) as my 300th plat but now I have no money left (damn you, PC!) so even after promising to "pick up the pace" I'm afraid I'll have to go as slow as possible for the time being until I can afford to replace my PS3 because of big daddy 300.

This wasn't news to me, I've already suffered through the ps3 version long ago but holy hell, I thought the performance was going to be better on the ps4 version! How wrong I was, quite the pathetic and embarrassing port.

 

Hey, did you know LBP3 was made by Sumo Digital? Yes, the same clowns that ruined Crackdown for the xboxers... Wtf? do these companies just hire these talentless hacks to ruin their exclusive franchises or what? What's next, Nintendo is going to hire them to fuck Metroid 4 up? 

 

I DO NOT recommend this at all specially for those of you that go for 100% profiles, not just because it's the worst LBP, but the DLC trophies are beyond glitched, and if they happen to glitch on you, you'll be forced to delete your user (that's right, your user, not user data, your whole ps4 user profile), then you'll have to delete all your lbp saves and start from scratch on a new user in offline mode This means that you'll have to do the very annoying DLC co-op challenges with another person via couch co-op, since they're impossible to solo AND THEN you'll finally be able to bring back your account for the trophy synching. You've been warned. 

 

Oh, how I'll miss this franchise... hoping for remasters is probably a lost cause.

Also, the poor timing... The Queen's news reached me as I was playing through this dogpile... My trophy timestamps will forever remain cursed. Maybe I jinxed her? Maybe I should try playing that JoJo Siwa game and see what happens. ?

Asian BAL run done and with it, BAL as a whole until the EU stack. Managed it in 17 matches this time (9 League, 8 AFC). All that's left is Master League, which is basically just simming a combined total of 8 seasons (5 for Europe/International Cup, 1 each for SA/Asia/Promotion) while I watch some YouTube. Might be able to take care of some of it when I get home from work each day, but chances are the bulk of it is getting done from Thursday night onwards.

I finished Everspace a little while ago. 

i haven't played all that many space flying sim games so this was a great novelty. 

Reletively easy on easy mode with a stacked ship but on normal or hard can be extremely difficult. I highly recommend it personally

Almost done with this one too. Finished all the single player stuff now... Master Ninja difficulty is no joke!

Only have one coop challenge left, the infamous UN1. My mate and I have finished everything else together so we want to 2 x Ryu this one as well. Finding time to play is a pain though so i think its going to be at 91% for a little while.

 

Finally, swapping out Rage for Super Stardust HD... I think it time to finish the last two trophies for the 100%

Bit of a change of plans since I'll be getting my COVID and Flu shots next Tuesday, which means I'm off for all three of my usual office days next week at the cost of probably feeling like ass for a couple days. To that end, I wanna get done everything that requires me to actually play the game as opposed to just menuing constantly since I don't really wanna have to actually focus while I feel like shit. To that end, I decided to do the Performance Training for EU tonight and I'm planning to take care of the South American and Asian BAL runs over the next few days. Starting with the Asian run since it's the worst one before I pivot to the comparatively short South American run and then finish off with the comically easy European run (can literally just sim a few matches and have the relevant trophy done with, making it about a few minutes compared to hours for the others). After that, both the NA and EU plats pretty much boil down to match simming for Master League and letting Coach mode do the five cups for me.

 

Regarding the Performance Training, despite it having been nearly two years since I last did them for the JP and NA stacks, they honestly weren't too bad this time around. Most of them were about as easy as I expected, but even some of my problem challenges such as the target kicks and the dreaded Auto-Feint ended up not giving me too much of an issue. Glad it went over smoothly since redoing this portion was the main reason I was sort of dreading the EU plat.

Finally finished another game and it’s not even UR anymore. But it was when I put it in the list so let’s just count it or I won’t even finish a Tier this year..

 

 

When I started this game I thought ‘what the hell did I just buy?’. The character models look very bad. Luckily this game turned out to be pretty good. I quite liked the turn based combat system.

The only downside is that you had to play on the hardest difficulty. All enemies are damage sponges so all battles take way too long. There should have been a turbo button in this game to make it way more fun.

 

And to finish the game there was a nice good old JRPG triple stage final boss fight that took an hour.

Firewall Zero Hour - 4v4 Competitive tactical shooter in VR (Virtual Reality) .
4th VR game I ever started, right after purchasing VR I went straight to BOOSTING this 150 HOUR GAME with 8 PLAYERS wearing a VR headset.
70+ hours of boost + helping my boost friends for an additional 20-ish hours. 

500 Headshots, NO RESPAWNING.
8 people wanting the trophy = 8 x 500 = 4000 headshots ( 4 headshots per match)
2 minutes per match. We were taking turns ,so everyone was getting same progress to avoid deserters.
And that is just 1 trophy. 

The real deal is the max level trophy. 50 Levels = 1 million XP. 10k XP per hour.
I had 350k XP left when I was done with boosting, which ended up around 40 hours for the grinding SOLO matches.

 

I eventually got sick of even thinking of this game, so I decided to just 100% focus on the grind until I was done. Ended up having a 24 hour grind session cause I wanted it for 175th plat milestone.
I was on a time restriction due to a boost in which I would pop the plat, so kinda had to rush it.

Overall, my experience was good.

With boosting I made a lot of new VR friends that I still play with somewhat regularly.
Single-player ,even though it was a long and repetitive grind I enjoyed it cause the game is satisfying and I listened to a bunch of Podcasts on the side.

Also, my new rarest platinum with 0.41%.
3rd rarest trophy overall.

Difficuly: 5/10

Fun: 4/10

Time spent: 90h

 

This was a bit boring roguelike to clear, since I found the dungeons to lack of variety and the enemies are way too easy to fight and when they are not it's only due to some bad RNG that spawned a horrible combination of enemies that endlessly attack you.

While you can pick several type of runs, all in all they are the same thing with just some changes based on which path you are on, not to mention only a very few weapons are worth to use so it becomes pretty monotonous.

The platinum is going to be a grind due to a trophy which requires to fill the bestiary with every enemy, whom you have to kill their elite version 50 times each without taking damage, unfortunately some of these enemies are barely present so from a speedrun run (15m) you may get 2-3 of them. Also the bosses have a no damage requirement, although only 10 times.

I don't recommend this game, it became boring pretty quick.

 

 

It looks like Dirt Rally is still obtainable so I will go for that next.

Asian Become a Legend run done, leaving me closer and closer to never having to play a virtual match of soccer ever again. Can't wait for it since as neat as it can be to land close or otherwise impressive goals, it's also offset significantly by my apathy towards soccer to the point that this is just a slog, and the most I can do to mitigate it is turn on some tunes to listen to while I score. At least during the sim/coach spam later on, I can watch video essays and the like to pass the time.

 

As for the run itself, I decided to experiment with playing significantly less AFC games than usual and it worked out, letting me end the run at a mere 11 games compared to my previous runs with 18 and 17 games.

Moto Racer 4 done. I only started this game because of the 30+ URs and expected it to be really shit, but while the game is indeed pretty mediocre, I did end up having some fun with it. It's an arcade racer where you can get speed boosts by performing certain actions like doing wheelies and perfect landings, and it ends up pretty fun trying to chain these all together. 90% of the playing time is spent playing through the campaign, but while the game has some fun mechanics, it does start to drag towards the end, as after a while I felt like I had already seen everything the game has to offer. The more chaotic races at the end on a higher difficulty were also a bit annoying as they highlighted the bad/buggy physics with collisions or just being close to other racers (simply touching someone else in a turn means you're unable to steer for a few seconds..). But despite all that it's still quite an easy game, with the exception of a handful of challenges (especially some of the time trials, fuck 9-3 in particular). Apart from this there's also a few online trophies that need a full lobby of 10 people, luckily it's a very short boost though so a short session was all that's needed.

 

Furthermore I finally got to Master League in Power Rangers. Had a lot of trouble with that before as the game isn't nearly as dead as I expected it to be. It seems though that waking up at 6am means I have a solid 2-3 hours of quiet boosting, so just a few sessions like that were enough to get that done. Now it's just the 1000 matches/level 700 grind left.

 

Also swapping out GTA V again as we haven't planned the last criminal mastermind run yet, and will instead play Zombie Vikings instead, should hopefully be fun in co-op.

So I have a small caveat on my completions; Oddworld is all completed but Disco Elysium just needs the buggy Jacket trophy to unlock, but I do have the Plat and all other DLC. Hopefully the Jacket trophy will unlock when my third HC run is fiinished.

 

And now I have actually finished Disco Elysium!

Now I am going to finish Not Not as my third UR game of the year.
