Since I did MoH Warfighter time ago, I decided to add this game in my collection as well, otherwise I would have skipped it.

It's an old standard platinum list, with some MP trophies that are relatively simple, somehow the MP is still a bit active and there aren't any super great players there, just lots of campers and since the design of the levels help campers, I didn't enjoy the MP much. Yet, I didn't lost my touch as I thought since I managed to perform decently enough once I got used to the game and I also got a hating message just like the dear old ps3 days, which raises memories. Most likely my last hating message ever from ps3, so I should share such a wonderful moment:

 

 

 

 

The SP is your (old) typical shooter campaign that you have to clear on the highest difficulty which is very easy anyway.

There is a mode that consist of a no checkpoint run through each mission that you must beat under a given par time on Hard difficulty: the guide makes it sound like a twin of NYMHC from Max Payne 3 but it is nowhere comparable, as here you play one mission per time and not the entire campaign, and each mission takes between 10 and 25 minutes, I only died one time for the entire duration of this mode so don't be afraid of it, everybody in my friends list have cleared this mode with plenty of time to spare.

 

 

For once, I was lucky: despite I ordered a normal copy of Medal of Honor, I actually received the Limited edition which also gives me Frontline, so I will do that one next and finish the MoH serie. It's quite a pain to deal with all the games I am playing at, with the brutal grind of Inversion and Verdun, practice in Crypt, the now boring boss run from Wuppo and the recent Bloody Zombies which I can't seem to like at all. Apart from Frontline, I may not do any more UR for this year.

This is quite an amazing platformer with a good story, nice humour and a relaxing gameplay. Some bosses are way too RNG which makes the game less enjoyable but a good experience regardless.

The story needs to be pretty much 100%ed so you can enjoy the game at its best, the only thing I didn't like of the story progression was a super BS puzzle room which forced me to mimic a vid to solve it. After about 15-20h the story mode should be finished in its entirety, so it's time for the only other mode, the boss run.

 

The boss run will make you face all the bosses in one go, which will put in light the ridicolous RNG of the bosses. The game got patched for Steam but as always, console players have been ignored, leaving us with a mode that in my opinion can not be beaten without purchasing some items from the shopkeepers, a requirement for the hardest trophy. However some genius has found out an exploit to double your HP, making the trophy possible yet quite hard.

I wasn't expecting to plat this anytime soon,at least not during this month, I guess I overestimated the difficulty since I got the plat while doing a practice run:

Good news, i have unlocked the last trophy in Little Nightmares yesterday. Spooky little adventure with some nice puzzles along the way. The worst in this game is the camera though as it's a sidescrolling 3D world and i fell down several times on narrow passages cuz i wasn't moving the right direction. Really frustrating for a no death speedrun thankfully the game saves often and i backed up my save often

 

I think this will be my last game for this year. I'm focusing on next years Platinum Difficulty Challenge already and won't be playing much in the next weeks until New Year anymore.

Been away from this thread for the last couple months due to various online boosts and getting sucked into Death Stranding. With how much time is left in the year I realistically will not get Star Wars Squadrons and Wipeout 2048 done in time. So with that in mind I am swapping them out for 2 games that are a little easier just so I can close out my second tier. I had also hoped to do John Wick Hex for the bounty but that is not going to happen now.

I was honestly surprised to see that this has an ultra rare trophy. Master of THE PLAYROOM - Find all of THE PLAYROOM trophies is sitting at 4.43%. I can only imagine that this is because of the very high player count due to this being a pack in game that also requires two dualshock 4's if you want the 100%. Nothing is actually difficult about this game at all really, except possibly the DLC trophy Shuriken Master - Defeated every single enemy in the ninja course. That can take some practice if you are doing it solo, but its also very easy if you have 2 - 4 people to help you.

 

I dunno, I don't have much to say about this game. Its essentially just tech demos of the DS4 and the camera. It is really annoying that I can not uninstall the DLC without factory resetting my PS4. Otherwise it is fine. If you have the camera and two DS4's then its an easy 100%.

#299 - Call of Duty: WW2

 

So I’ve been meaning to get around to posting this for awhile now. I finished this one a few weeks ago and had a blast with it. I’ve played & platinumed a handful of Call of Duty games over the last few years, mainly in the Modern Warfare series, but hadn’t yet touched WW2 or any of the Black Ops entries up to this point. So in other words, not since finishing World at War years ago have I touched any of the classic zombies modes that have pretty much become synonymous with Call of Duty. Crazy right?

 

WW2 fixed that fast and pretty much gave me a crash course in modern CoD Zombies and the whole concept of “Easter Eggs” that most of you are probably familiar with. For those who aren’t, the Easter Eggs are basically hidden storylines within the zombies maps that can be incredibly long and complex, and require precise coordination and communication from the entire team to pull off. Everyone needs to know their role and stick to it, or the entire operation is pretty much doomed to fail. I’m not a huge multiplayer guy so this one was kind of a baptism by fire and got pretty intense for me at times. But I was really lucky to meet some great people and get added to some dedicated groups with other trophy hunters who were as determined to platinum the game as I was. I played with the same guys for several weeks and we all had a great time, and met a few really experienced players who helped guide and teach us the steps on each map.

 

The zombies mode takes up the bulk of time for this game, but in addition to that you also have the standard CoD campaign trophy list (the story and missions were actually pretty great in this one), as well as a long multiplayer grind to reach Prestige 1 rank online. This game ended up being #4 overall on my PlayStation Wrap Up for 2022, clocking in at 131 hours!

 

I’ve had Black Ops 1 in my backlog for like 4 years now, so I’m planning on tackling that one very soon as one of my UR picks for the upcoming year. Looking forward to it! I might be able to bang out one more UR platinum before year’s end, but if not, I’ll see y’all in 2023.

It's extremely janky and rough around the edges but despite that I don't actually dislike this game, it has this weird charm to it and I didn't actually feel bored while playing. I might stack the original one more time in the future but for now it's nice to be done with all of these. I'm gonna get back onto Armored Core: Verdict Day to get the hardcore run now.

 

This will be the last update for this event until next time. I finished Armored Core: Verdict Day to pretty much finish everything off. I've already posted about it in a recent status update but I was really glad to get it done. It's the latest one in the longest running series by From Software so I used to play a lot of these but I still found it tough to do. The guide is arguably the best guide I've ever used. It's definitely one of the toughest platinums that I've done since you need to do a hardcore run, which is a semi permadeath speedrun (you might as well) with modifiers where you have to do the entire game with a certain amount of lives. It's a much tougher TPS than something like Vanquish although these play differently however I will say that the hardcore run is much harder than Challenge 6 since it's a more brutal game. There are duo bosses than can wipe you out in a single hit so after 2-3hrs of progress it can go to shit & you lose all your lives within a few seconds. The toughest of all the duo bosses were Aegis & Iron Rose which make the bogeys from Challenge 6 in Vanquish seem like nothing. I wouldn't wanna do a run like that again. I actually finished it right before the Game Awards 2022 where the latest one was announced by From Software so looking forward to that.

Planet Minigolf - 96% - Max Possible

From Zen Studios, the makers of all those Zen Pinball FX games, this is a very old PS3 exclusive minigolf game. It definitely shows its age with janky camera controls, a difficult to gauge power meter, and forced motion controls with a specific power up. It has one unobtainable trophy, Contender, for competing in a weekly tournament which has not been possible since 2014. Oddly, all the other online features and trophies are still available. I actually got the last trophy I could on December 16th, but decided to go the extra mile and ask Zen studios to turn the weekly tournaments back on before I called it a day. I got a response yesterday:

 

It's as expected, probably nothing will happen but at least I tried. To be honest the fact that I actually got a response is kind of surprising.

 

As far as ultra rares go in this game, its got two.

 

Goofball Guru you unlock by winning 1st place in all the wacky courses of the base game. The wacky courses are unlocked once you beat the first 3 courses in each location. And boy they are not lying, the courses are very wacky. They are filled with stupid sections where you have to use the motion controlled jumping power up in combination with the rocket power up to do blind platforming. Yes, blind platforming with janky motion controls in a minigolf game. It was honestly infuriating, taking hundreds of attempts in some cases to get the jump just right. The only saving grace here is that you can restart each individual hole as many times as you want until you get a decent score, so actually winning the courses is not a problem. If you had to restart the entire course every time you messed up a dumb jump I would have given up.

 

The second UR and rarest trophy in the game is Designer. You get the trophy for having one of your custom holes rated at least 3 stars after 100 plays. This is incredibly easy to self boost with just a single PS3. The only catch is that for a rating to be applied I needed at least 10 unique players to rate it. Not a problem, I have 18 total PSN accounts so I just had to load the game up on 10 of them to give myself a 5 star rating. Then the 90 remaining plays do not need to be unique, they can all come from the same person. On top of that you don't actually need to finish the hole for it to count as a play, you just need to load it, hit retire, then load it again 90 times. One of the easiest ratings based trophies I have ever done.

 

The DLC was fine, just four new courses in one new environment. The wacky course included here was significantly easier then the base game.

Overall the game was okay I guess (aside from the wacky courses). Was interesting to look back at a forgotten exclusive but its not really worth the time outside of that. Stick to the better modern minigolf games.

 

And that's it for me! Two tiers done, was originally hoping to do a third but still happy with the progress I made this year and all the new URs. I do have one more game that I could do, but I may as well save it for next year. Definitely did more swaps then I originally wanted too, I have found that planning my games actually makes me want to play them less. So next year I will be more fast and loose with it.

Eleven of my twenty games were plat-less 100%'s. Happy to see my love of plat-less games is still strong haha!

I know almost everyone is already thinking about lists for the next 2023 edition... But while it took me 11 months to finish my first Tier, somehow December was productive and I finished four more games ? So even though I'm now probably not going to finish any more, I thought I'd still mention the games I played: 

 

 

Victor Vran

I played this in coop with @Mori, @Exhuman1988 and @Koro249. I would say this is one of the better diablo-clones I've played, and one of those games where builds actually do matter! That made it hard initially for everyone to really get into the game, especially since the enemy scaling is pretty noticeable so when you are playing 4 people and not everyone has a good build, you start to struggle. 

 

You can cheese all Hard / Hardcore playthroughs luckily, since doing those legit would be really hard and incredibly time consuming, and the game already is a grind as is. You need to complete 10 different challenges in each of the locations, which takes a while. The game really grew on us the more we played, I really had a good time with it. 

 

Not A Hero

I wanted to play this one for a long time but somehow always forgot about it. This is a pixel-art 2D shooter, very simlar to Broforce but without the over-the-top humor and no coop. Short but fun game, definitely more challenging than Broforce but nothing too bad overall. 

 

Surgeon Simulator

Fuck the drunk ambulance driver, he should be fired! ? I really enjoyed my time with I Am Bread, so I decided to give Surgeon Simulator a go, since it's part of the PS+ Extra catalogue. This game is - as was to be expected - clunky as fuck... But not in the same fun way that Bread was clunky. The operations in the hospital and in space were fun enough, but the corridor is just a lot of waiting around for nothing, and the ambulance is a horrible, horrible game mode. 

 

The game isn't quite as challenging, I think Cheese Hunt from Bread is still harder than anything from Surgeon Simulator, but the later definitely made me rage more... Especially the double kidney and eyes transplant in the ambulance... I have still nightmares ?

 

Leo's Fortune

Ah, one of the bounties for next year... Originally a mobile game, Leo's Fortune is a very simple but beautiful platformer. The character is extremely floaty, and the level design takes that into consideration. The game itself isn't overly long, with 20 very distinct levels that get progressively harder. Once you complete the game, you unlock Hardcore Mode, where you need to play the entire game from start to finish without dying. No fuck-ups for around one hour... This gave me a bit of a headache... I lost three runs in a row on the last level, with two of those deaths being absolutely hearbreaking due to how stupid they were ?

 

I'm very happy to have finished this one before starting my holiday tomorrow, since I won't be able to play for a couple of days... Now I won't be running through the levels in my head ? Definitely a good challenge and a fun platformer that I'm very glad to have added to my collection!

An old classic, it's been a while since I played one. This FPS is set during WW2 and you play as your typical 007 super soldier who annihilates hundreads of enemies and sabotates half of the third reich just by himself.

Apart from the first mission where you play hide-and-seek with your teammates, the game was decent to play, there are no checkpoints during the missions but they aren't too long anyway.

During the first run you have to get a gold medal for each level which has 2 quite stupid requirements:

 

• 95% of enemies killed. But their scrypt is a bit broken so they may have problems to spawn, such as they may appear close to the beginning of the level while you reached the end
• 75% of health remaining, not overall. So you just leave a medikit somewhere and go to get it once all enemies are dead, before you reach the exit

 

After that the second run is on Hard difficulty, which is, indeed, Hard. Quick reflexes (or learn where each enemy is), grenade spam on Coda wannabe enemies and pray RNGesus because sometimes the enemies have an insane accuracy.

This is a beat em up against yet again another zombie apocalypse. I didn't like it, it felt too RNG and the simple fight style became very monotonous.

Lots of misc and most importantly the Insane difficulty, your typical one sitting session without save/checkpoints and only 1 life, with all the 1Up removed in a 1.5h run, however you can use an exploit to give yourself unlimited retries so it wasn't too extreme and you could adjust garbage RNG which is, indeed, garbage, especially on the last level where if a grenadier zombie doesn't throw grenades but just circles around you endlessly, you are dead.

 

 

If my group pushes hard, I may finish Dreadnought (Oh look, another shutdown, who would have ever guessed that?) before the new year, I shall start Fantavision as well.
