Rubí keeps making me a frog

I have not played this game since 2008. However, I am trying to do the Cloud strayegy of counter attack but Rubi keeps making me a frog and also poisons me, thus making it impossible.

 

I have tried to use the item that destroys frog (I dont know its name in english but it is Beso de doncella in spanish) : nothing. I used a ring against frog and poison =nothing.

 

What can I do?

Have you equipped the Ribbon accessory? It should null all status effects such as frog and by the latter part of the game you should have come across at least two Ribbons.

Ribbon is one way to avoid Ruby's status effects.

You get 1 in the temple of the ancients

1 in the gaea cliffs hidden in a wall 

And can be morphed from ochu and master tonberry if you misses them.

Another item you can use is white Cape accessory (cappa blanca??) That also stops frog

For some reason I used Capa Blanca and it did nothing, not sure though, I didnt remember that back on the day. Actually, I think I never beat this boss back on the day xDD pretty grindy
