Guide of the Year Awards 2021 - Announcement

It's that time of year again in which the PSNP's communities' guides are weighed against one another to determine the best of the best. 2021 has been a difficult and transformative year for the Guide Team with the changing of hands, a new team at the helm, and a staggering queue to process right out of the gate. Nevertheless, despite the challenges, the Guide Team has seen one of the most successful years in guide writing since the features introduction. To date, 474 guides have been authored by our community making this year a record year in PSNP guide writing!

 

Just like last year, three winners will be rewarded with the Guide of the Year Award!  Also like last year, the format will be the same in where the team will be selecting the nominees with the community voting on the winners of each category, albeit with some adjustments based on feedback. Unchanged however is that authors have a chance to win prizes in the 7 other categories for guides in addition to the best overall top three guides. In total, 24 guides will receive rewards this year.

 

 

These categories are for:

• Overall Guide of the Year 2021: The best of the best of all guides chosen for the year. The candidates for this category are made up of the selections of the seven categories below.
• Exceptional Trophy Guide: Any guide of exceptional quality that falls under the base "Trophy Guide" format this year.
• Exceptional DLC Guide: Guides for pieces of DLC or patches that add trophies made under the "DLC Guide" format.
• Exceptional Gameplay Guide: Any guide that is made under the "Gameplay Guide" format this year.
• Exceptional Use of Formatting: Some writers make their guide so clean and organized it is like an artwork by making great use of headings, colors, images, etc.
• Exceptional Use of Original Content: Some writers go the extra mile and make their own videos, images, and combination of these within their guide.
• Retro Enthusiast: In celebration of the anniversary of the PS5, any guide that was made for (exclusively) PS3 or Vita this year that are considered to be of exceptional quality.
• New-Age Enthusiast: In celebration of the anniversary of the PS5, any guide that was made for PS5 this year that are considered to be of exceptional quality.

 

Here are the rules:

• The guides in which the community will vote on will be hand picked and selected by the PSNP Guide Team and Moderation Team in round one, and then the community will vote on the selections made in round two to determine the winners.
• You may not vote for your own guides if they are nominated.
• Only guides published between January 1^st, 2021 and December 31^st, 2021 are being considered by staff in the chosen list.
• A special voting thread will be created on January 5^th, 2022, in which the community will be able to vote on the staff selection. You will be required to give a minimum of 2 choices per category. A list will be provided in the future voting thread under the seven qualifying categories.
• The voting thread will be closed after two weeks. The top three guides of each category and the top three guides overall will determine the winners of each of the categories as well as the overall GOTY winner.
• Staff member guides are not eligible to win the GOTY, however, Co-op guides with staff members will be eligible, in case a co-op guide ends up in the top 3, the non-staff writer will get the whole prize.
• In case a guide has more than 1 writer, the prize will be split between all guide contributors, so long as they contributed a meaningful amount to the guide. We track all edits so this will be checked.

 

GOTY2021 Prizes

 

For the moment you all have waited for, the GOTY2021 Prize Pool!

 

Every Guide Writer:

•  The Ultimate Prize: is the satisfaction of helping gamers all around the world. Give yourself a well-deserved pat on the shoulder.  

Overall Top 3:

•  1st Place: a cash prize of $100
•  2nd Place: a cash prize of $80
•  3rd Place: a cash prize of $60

Exceptional Categories:

•  1st Place: a cash prize of $50
• 2nd Place: a cash prize of $40
•  3rd Place: a cash prize of $30

Random Voting Prize

• 3 random voters will earn: a cash prize of $25

In total, there is a total of $1155! Whoa, that is a lot of money!

 

Besides the money prizes, GOTY winners will receive a special GOTY2021 seal and all nominations this year from the staff picks will receive a Seal of Excellence to commemorate your excellence and fame for years to come! 

 

We hope to see you all in a few weeks for when we reveal our staff picks and excited to see your feedback on what you think are the best of the best guides of the year.

The amount of exceptional guides written this year will make the 2021 Guide Awards very exciting.  The high standard of published guides has really made PSNP the go-to site for Playstation guides.  Thank you to all the authors that contributed (and continue) to help out our large community of trophy hunters.  It's not easy to get any guide published, so the winners of these categories should feel honored to be the best of the best.  Congratulations and Thank You!

This is the first time I’ve been a part of this as a guide writer. This is exciting! Everyone has said it already but the guide team is absolutely stellar with their consistency. Being able to publish 2+ guides a day. I love this site.
