Popular Post DrBloodmoney
Checking off another box - this time the "Game You Meant to Play Last Year" with one I bought at launch, but only got around to recently (almost a year later!): Last Stop. A narrative Adventure-lite game, with a London-based "Tales of the Unexpected" vibe, it has some good ideas and elements, but unfortunately, it doesn't quite manage to pull them together into a good final product. It felt tonally all-over-the-place, and the twists and turns of the narrative felt very forced. Dialogue is hit-and-miss, and while I did like some aspects (playing as a sexually empowered, middle aged woman - as you do in one of the vignette stories - is something pretty rare in games, as is London-based narrative games, and it has some good music,) that wasn't enough to really get me on board. A bit of a disappointment, as I liked the developer's previous game - Twin Peaks-inspired Virginia - quite a lot. I recommend Virginia, but can't say the same of Last Stop, I'm afraid. Still - gives me another box checked off (and another Bingo line), so that's something! ?

Thx to you and @DrBloodmoney for telling me that i had a Bingo completed last time i commented here This time it's obvious i have a Bingo Everybody knows how Lara Croft looks like regardless of which game you look at so i choose her for no facial hair (B1) with Shadow of the Tomb Raider completed just a few days ago. The adventure felt 100% identical to its predecessor just with a different environment (jungle instead of tundra). But i like the story more so that's a good thing And for a Metroidvania or Rogue-like i chose to play Guacamelee (O4) on PS4 today and finished the story quickly. It's over 6 years ago that i played it on the Vita but i remembered most of it. A peasent fighting as an undead luchador versus several undead in a mexican inspired city. A good adventure and the PS4 version has two all new areas plus a few changes on some enemies so it wasn't all known to me i'm happy i jumped in it again. Popular Post Xylobe
Adding 2 more games to my card before I inevitably forget to. I've somehow managed to keep avoiding almost every single bingo, which feels like a unique talent. Retro Re-release - Final Fantasy VII - 5/7/2022 Spoiler VII is, along with VI, one of the only "classic" Final Fantasy titles that I never played when I was younger. I have no explanation for why I was surprised that one of the most acclaimed games of all time was, in fact, pretty good. I'll blame it on the misery that XIII put me through just a few weeks earlier. What surprised me the most is how little of the game's story had actually been spoiled for me, considering Final Fantasy VII has been firmly cemented in the internet nerd zeitgeist for almost as long as the internet has existed. Of course I knew about the whole Aerith situation, but beyond that, the game's other twists and turns were all brand new to me. Great cast of characters-- I even liked Cait Sith after I got over the "what the hell even is this thing" problem. The Materia system is a really interesting alternative to the traditional jobs/classes of the older titles. Really my only complaints were (as always) the minigames, and that Ruby Weapon is a terrible superboss. Frightening/Horror - Salt and Sacrifice - 5/13/2022 Spoiler This may be pushing it a little bit for this category, but like many Souls-inspired games it has its fair share of gruesome imagery. Plus it was my 666th completed game... on Friday the 13th. That could only be divine providence. Salt and Sanctuary was an excellent attempt to translate Dark Souls into 2D, and reviews for Salt and Sacrifice described it as "more of the same," so I was very much looking forward to it. After playing it, I'm convinced that any reviewer who said that didn't play past the first 10 minutes of either game. If Sanctuary was Dark Souls, then Sacrifice is halfway between Demon's Souls and Monster Hunter World (and I do mean halfway, not "Souls with a little bit of Monster Hunter garnish"). The two halves are welded together with some vile corpumancy, bringing out the worst of both in this shambling homunculus. For some tangible complaints: Solo play is close to untenable; most Mage bosses, if allowed to target the same player for long enough, will eventually have their attacks overlap into undodgeable patterns. Co-op play, despite being essentially required to get any enjoyment, opens you up to PvP invasions. Every invader uses a "meta" build that stunlocks you to death from range and has no counterplay, meaning your options are to find a rare boss fight arena so the invader gets sent home or simply lie down and wait to die. The co-op experience is further hampered by the game's universally terrible UI/UX. The game's many Mage fights all happen in the style of Monster Hunter hunts, with the players chasing their targets through the level, and non-target mages appearing alongside the target of the hunt. Unlike Monster Hunter, when you join another player's session, you're given no indication of what the active hunt is, or if there even is one at all. When 3 mages can be clustered in the same arena, the objective becomes illegible. Is the host hunting that Necromancer? Or that Thaumamancer? Or that Sanguimancer? Or are they headed past all of that to a non-Mage boss? Or do they just need help exploring? Good luck figuring that out. As mentioned, the UI/UX is awful across the board. Even something as simple as comparing a new piece of equipment to what you're currently using requires a pen and pad to do effectively. The game's currency, silver, is literally useless. You can buy salt (experience) in minuscule amounts at an unfavorable rate, and for most of the game that's about it. This next sentence is technically a spolier, but I can't get nested spoiler tags to work, and you're better off knowing this in advance anyway: After completing the game's ultra-hard platforming hell secret area, you gain access to a new merchant to spend your silver on. They sell... the most common tier of Mage drops. The kind that you already have dozens of each. This isn't really a complaint, but it summarizes my feelings on the game: on the main menu, alongside "New Game," "Continue," and "Settings," there's an option for "Notes". Picking that will pop up a screen that says "Thanks for participating in the alpha test!" As far as I can tell, there was an alpha preview build that some people had access to on PC back in October of last year. The fact that the message is left in the final release, 7 months later, on the main menu illustrates the lack of care and attention that I feel permeate this game. To be clear, it's not all bad-- exploration is still very good, even in spite of the world being broken up into discrete levels/zones, and almost all of the (regrettably few) non-Mage bosses are great. The issue is that the bulk of the game - fighting Mages - is miserable. I'm inclined to say that Ska stretched themselves too thin trying to support online, and unfortunately, at least to me, it didn't pay off at all. I really wouldn't recommend this game to anyone unless the solo and PvP experiences are balanced in patches later down the line. It may not be the worst game I've played, not by a long shot, but I think it's easily by far and away the most disappointing.
Popular Post igs63
Hello again all, here is an update on my progress! I've filled in quite a few squares since I last posted here, but no bingos yet. Admittedly, a lot of games going onto the card this time around are shorter games with fairly easy + quick platinums. I've been really eager to get to my next platinum milestone so that I can finish Horizon Forbidden West for that one, and with limited time for gaming some days, I got a little impatient. I don't think this should mean that the games are no good however, some of them were quite good, well written stories with meaningful messages and great visuals or artwork. Some however... not so much. ? First new game on the board is Lake. I remembered seeing Lake last year when it originally released, and thinking it was interesting - which is sometimes hard to explain when the gist of the gameplay is that you drive around town delivering mail ?. It seems lately that a lot of games that don't come to playstation immediately seem to get there eventually, so I decided to wait, and I'm glad I did. I was tempted to put Lake in for 'With player operated vehicles' as driving the mail truck around is definitely a huge portion of the game, but I decided I had a fair few other options for that one and put it in for 'One Word Title'. Next is Reminiscence in the night. I bought this as I was hoping it would be similar to 'When The Past Was Around', which was a point and click story about loss that I really loved. Unfortunately this one didn't quite scratch that itch but it was alright. Nice and quick, too. I put this one in for the 'Title screen has purple on it', as the title screen's background is the same shade of purple that the banner image on my bingo square has. I mean, that's purple right? Following that is A Memoir Blue. This game is described as an 'interactive poem' however it features no spoken or written word, and you simply have to decipher the meaning yourself. The visuals are pretty amazing and I didn't mind the interactive segments- they are pretty clever and satisfying to complete- but kind of limited too. I'm putting this one in under 'For another PSNP event' as I am also participating in the Attack on Completion 2022 event, which, besides the focus to increase your overall completion, also features several monthly challenges such as 'Complete a new game added to your profile that month' -- which this game fulfils. Lastly, we have I and Me. This one has been sitting on my vita for a while so I decided to finally play it. It is a platformer with several chapters and levels- where during each chapter the season changes and with it, the main mechanic that all levels make use of. You are controlling two little cat-like characters at once and need to move each one into a picture frame. The catch- the picture frames may be next to each other, on opposite sides of the level, or in seemly random locations. You need to use the structure of the level to manoeuvre each cat into the right positions in order to hit both picture frames at the same time, all the while dodging obstacles and timing jumps for the two characters moving at once. I admittedly thought this one might have been a touch easier than it actually was - getting the timing right for a few of the later levels took a few tries, but I got there in the end. Aaaand that's all for now! I have some other games I've completed but I couldn't find an open square that they would have fitted into. As for what's next - I will definitely be finishing Horizon Forbidden West very soon and that will have a spot on this board. As for what's after that- I'm planning to get into Elden Ring which I think will fit into a square, and otherwise I'll just see what I end up playing and if it fits on the card! Some games I have in mind I know definitely will- but for some of these squares I might have to do some thinking and planning on what I can play that will actually fit. I'm definitely not filling this card as quickly as some of you are, but I'm having fun all the while. Good luck everyone, and until next time! Popular Post DrBloodmoney
Adding another completed box - this time the "Favourite Genre" one, with twisty-turny-mind-bendy-gravity-splosion puzzle game Manifold Garden! A great one - very very cool - original, interesting and very well executed! ?? The main game is not too easy, and not too hard - but the game does offer an "alternate" road to completion that is utterly baffling and much harder, if that's your bag! Still have a final trophy to unlock for doing a run using all the special hidden passages (and my God, are they hidden!) but main game is completed - and managed to avoid the temptation to look at any guide stuff until after seeing credits! ??
Popular Post Xylobe
Another quick update, just to bring me up from 1 bingo to 3! Player Choice - My Name is Mayo 3 - 5/17/2022 Spoiler What other game could I have chosen for this one? Mayo 3 saved my marriage, co-wrote my doctoral thesis, and cured my fatty liver disease. I'm struggling a bit to come up with a game for my Favorite Genre square-- I'd generally say mine is metroidvanias, but I feel like I've already done most of what's out there. If anyone has any suggestions for games that may have flown under people's radars, I'd love to hear them! I could also do a JRPG in a pinch, but I've done quite a few so far this year, and I'm working on 2 more already. My hope is to finish this card by the end of next month, then decide if I want to start another one for the second half of the year.

Popular Post Han_the_Dragon
Well, it's time for another update.. Finally convinced myself to finish Star Ocean V and went for the platinum! Much shorter than SO4... that's all.. Also got Detroit done for the Overplayed slot! The Pacifist side as always feels the best to me, but I'm slightly sad that the platinum doesn't require a more thorough experience of the game, like Heavy Rain.. Next up, will likely be I Am Setsuna for the Favorite Genre (JRPG).. I also should start asking for suggestions for the "Suggested by another PSNP member" category... And the Graphical update: Link to the spreadsheet B1 - Sci-fi or Fantasy Theme - Nightmares From the Deep 3: Davy Jones B2 - That You Can Beat in One Sitting - Light Fairytale Episode 2 B3 - Overplayed (owned by >100000 players) - Detroit: Become Human B4 - Favorite Genre - B5 - In-game Weather Effects - Gran Turismo 7 PS5 I1 - Release Your Inner Weeb - Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne I2 - Recommended by a PSNP member - I3 - Title Screen as Purple in It - I4 - Non-Human Sidekick - Faery: Legends Of Avalon I5 - Spawned an Extended Universe - N1 - No Jump Button - Nightmares From the Deep 2: The Siren's Call N2 - Strategy, Simulation or Management - N3 - Player's Choice - N4 - That Gives You the Feels - Voice of Cards: The Island Dragon Roars N5 - Crafting Mechanics - Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness G1 - Developed in a Foreign Country - Lollipop Chainsaw G2 - With mini-games in it - Final Fantasy VII Remake PS5 G3 - Peripheral-based - Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle G4 - You Think You Will Dislike - The Order 1886 G5 - For Another PSNP Event - Nightmares From the Deep: The Cursed Heart O1 - Main Character as no facial heir - One Punch Man: The Hero Nobody Knows O2 - Frightening/Horror - Murdered: Soul Suspect PS4 O3 - Racing or Sports - Need For Seed: The Run O4 - DLC Pack or Standalone DLC - O5 - Banned in a Country - Injustice: Gods Among Us PS3

Ok, I take that (specially because it's on sale too..). Thanks! I usually stay away from this kind of JRPG (well, mainly Kemco), because they always look interesting to me, but being retro style and really common platinum throw me off a bit.. But I actually did enjoy a bit my time with Asdivine Hearts (no platinum), so, getting something like this suggested really works to my taste! That more or less settles the final 7 games in my card! Popular Post Hurricane_Tanya
Two more for me, I’m getting so close to that triple bingo now. For ‘been meaning to get to’ I went with Hitman 3, I always loved the older hitman games and I’ve been wanting play the new trilogy since the first one came out. With platinum 47 coming up I was finally prompted to play it. I loved this game, normally I get the plat and uninstall, maybe got for the 100% if the dlc is on sale, but this game has earned a permanent home on my ps4. There’s so much freedom with how to play, I will definitely be playing this for the new events and community challenges whenever I need something quick and fun to play. With punctuation or a # in the title went to A Plague Tale: Innocence, I really enjoyed the story of this one, the gameplay was good too. However, I’m glad my time with it is over. The story is so harrowing and tense, it felt like playing Dishonored, but without the powers. Getting spotted was almost certain death, and I genuinely cried about the characters at points. I won’t be replaying it, but I am still looking forward to the sequel.
Popular Post Flitterbloom
Hi! 3 more games added this time. Chicken Police was supposed to be the "Has no human" but Humans are mentioned in the game so I swapped it to "Non-human sidekick" thanks to Marty. I liked the ambiance, the story, and hard-boiled are one of my favourites literary genre. I really enjoyed it and I hope they'll make another one, be it a sequel or something else. For The Sly Trilogy now, I hadn't play any before this PS3 version. I liked it, but maybe playing them all on a short time (kinda) was not a good idea. I was planning to play all four of them, but I'm gonna need a break for now. Obviously, Has no Human ! Finally, In Nightmare went in "With an Isometric View". I had so much trouble with this game. I want to love it (I waited for it for a very long time!) but my experience was stained with so much bugs and stupid stuff I feel bitter. Next stop, Puppeteer for the "Frightening/Horror" box (I was kinda surprised it's categorised as "Horror"). Still no idea for B1, DLC Pack/Standalone DLC. Didn't feel like "Sly minigames" deserved to have its own box ?.

Popular Post Briste
Now we're cooking with gas! That top right corner starting to make some bingos look like a possibility now. Since my last update I've finished up the Genshin Impact DLC Trophy Pack 2. I love this game, but my goodness did it take forever to finish that DLC pack. Getting the Inazuma Reputation to level 10 suuuuucked. You only get to do 3 reputation quests each week and 3 bounty hunts each week for a max of 420 points per week. You get some points for uncovering the map and completing quest as well, but there's a cap on that. It took about two weeks for each level after level 5. I've probably been working on that DLC since some time in March and just finished it up. It earns a spot in O1. I also finished another game with a hell of a grind that is capped on how quickly you can earn it. Rayman Legends (Vita) took me about 5 months to complete the grind for Total Awesomeness. I started this one the first week of December during the weeklong Murfy Challenge glitch to get the Diamond Cup. Then it was just a matter of logging in every day to complete the daily/weekly challenges. Getting higher than a Silver Cup is not terribly easy due to how low the player base is (you need to finish in the top 20% of daily player attempts for a Gold Cup). Rayman is a handsome fellow who does NOT have any facial hair. He slid nicely into O4 giving me 3/5 in the O column. The third addition to my card was originally released in February of 2022 in Horizon Forbidden West. It did not live up to its predecessor in my mind, but was still a good game. In my mind, you can wait for a sale on this one, but it's still worth playing. It probably could have qualified as "Favorite Genre' since I have like 5 genre's tied for first place, but I don't play a ton of new games so it's quite possible I go the rest of the year without a game released in 2022. Because of that, it landed in G2. I've got three directions 3/5 for a bingo...which probably means my next games will not help me right away lol. I hope everyone is enjoying filling out their bingo card!
