Another positive week, but only just. Plans for the week were slightly derailed by a minor (non-Covid thankfully) chest infection which ruined my Thursday, usually my most productive day of the week thanks to my work schedule. No fun trying to concentrate on playing a game when you're bent double coughing and spluttering every 2 minutes, so gave up and spent the day watching Celebrity Apprentice Australia instead. Fortunately a rapid improvement and a rare Saturday off work helped to push things back in the right direction.

 

Should finish Rime in the next couple days if I find the time - most of the trophies left to tick off are collectibles (God, I hate collectibles) and the walkthrough collectible guide I was following botched their captioning (so it's their fault and absolutely definitely not mine for not paying full attention to what I was watching) meaning it'll take slightly longer than optimal to do the mop-up, which is irritating although admittedly a bit of a First World problem.

 

Hopefully next week will be a slightly heftier chunk out of the percentage.

It's alright I suppose, although I did find myself swearing a lot more than usual - it got a bit frustrating in places with it not always being completely obvious where you have to go or how to get there if you're playing blind, but it's not overly difficult once you get the hang of the mechanics.

 

It's one of those games that I'm not sure I'd ever have played if it hadn't been on Plus, but it's not the worst way to spend a couple of rainy afternoons. Nothing about it makes me want to revisit it again though.

I didn't much care for it. It's a game about dealing with loss, I'll keep it vague to avoid spoilers. I had to force myself to finish it, be sure to follow a collectibles guide. I did like the graphics I'll give it that. Too many games nowadays go for hyper realistic as opposed to the more cartoony/ animated graphics of my childhood.

And then there are some games where developers put the most time in the graphics, but gameplay sucks and so on.
I think that we all like games with nice graphics, but when nothing in the games is enjoyable then nice graphics do not safe the game from being a desaster. 
But it seems to be that games where graphics and gameplay are equivalent, are most time only found in Nintendo games for the Switch nowadays.

Maybe I should play more with my Switch or WiiU when this year is over ?.

Game was okay, bought it when I bought my first PS3 and wanted to try different genres of games.

Game is okay, but the genre is not really compatible to me ?.

It's on my list too but I'd read the reviews on release and heard the platforming was a little meh. It's one I'll do eventually but certainly not top of my pile.

Yeah, I'm genuinely not sure on SuperHot. I read those challenges and was like "Oh HELL no" especially as my FPS roots are on the PC, so using a controller is like watching a newborn try and figure out the concept of fingers and thumbs. 

RE2 also looks like a bit of a hellish quest and I scare easily so I doubt it will get done soon!

The week started so well and then my daughter got a cold (I'm currently on parental leave for five weeks). So then I caught her cold. Then we both got over the cold...and then next thing I know we've written off the whole weekend with no sleep, hospital trips and a throat infection for her. Hence, the Sunday night and not Monday morning update because there is every chance that the next few days is going to be messy and I don't mean in the "lads on tour in Europe" kind of fun "messy".

Control

Okay so before - Operation:Distraught 10 Month Old - we made some good progress on Control. Gained all abilities, started linking sections of the map together and we're about 75% of the way through the story. Platinum still on course for end of February. Still really enjoying the game, just need to keep on going really. The pain in the backside is going to be the 'Master Parautilitarian' trophy because it requires squirreling away at all of the games secrets and hidden bits. Other than that, all good.

 

Deep Rock Galactic 

 

Finally took the plunge and hosted a multiplayer session. Christ that was a mess. However did some more single player stuff and popped a single trophy. Go me. Long term one this. Platinum coming to your doors end of play 2025.

By 'started' I really mean, 'carried on' because I popped the first trophy for this back in 2018 and I've decided my next step should be to try and focus on a mix of multiplayer and 'F' rank games. This was the latter and I had a couple of good runs on it and popped a handful of trophies, bringing it up to a 'C' rank. I'll continue chipping away at it. 

No idea what this incoming week is going to bring but I've only got another week or so and then I'll be getting back on the coursework and then back to work the week after that, so my focus through February will be finishing Control and deciding whether or not I can be bothered with AC Unity. The answer is probably yes, unfortunately.

Not much progress to report here.  I admit, I've been addicted to another platform and not playing on PSN as much.  I have been chipping away at Sparkle Unleashed though because I've actually been on a roll with that one so far.  Started the year off on level 55 and am up to 61 now on my nightmare run.  No trophies earned, but with that game any levels completed is amazing progress because I've been chipping away at that one for years now off and on and sometimes it can take months for RNG to favor me and beat another level.  I think I'm going to just keep chipping away at that one for the time being, but may try to start chipping away again at something like Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny.

Two quick plats earlier today. I knocked off two games that were sitting at over 90% complete and just needed cleaning up. Points wise did it boost me much, not really but did make me feel better. The VN has some of the worst translation I have even come across. Sigi I was using the pause glitch. I beat the last boss and my time was like 45 mins. I was getting more lives to try again and had my game sitting for a bit. After beating the level the trophy popped. I only bought these Sometimes You games because if that .99 sale a while back and most of them I should have just stayed away from. I think I am almost through them all now. 5 games left over 90% lets get them all done .

Update for the week

 

More vita fun, I won't be able to do this for the whole year but it's getting some much needed love.

 

Finished story lego ninjago shadow of ronin so now the utter clean up mode in lego games commences

 

Fat princess piece of cake, had to start fresh since lost save and since no online store for it being active I get very few power ups and makes the grind so long. I only got 25 levels left and lot of grinding to finish it.

 

Started run sackboy and left with the boring grind of getting the costumes. Joy o joy.

 

Went from 0 - 100% on the swapper.  Fun puzzle game, some parts hard as balls and without a guide would never gotten the trophies for it.

FYI, if you weren't aware, Act IV of Shadow of War is much easier now. The grind for high level orcs is minimal and if you have the DLC's, completing them post campaign but before doing the Shadow Wars portion will net you several high level orcs for your army that are very useful.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. From what the guide looks like, doesn't seem as a hard platinum either. After spending 200+ hours on each Nioh and Nioh 2, I need something that's more relaxed?

So I did some good gaming and some bad gaming today...

 

On the good side I got the 500 hero kills trophy in SWBF 2  and got to level 45, so by next weekend the plat will be mine!

 

Now the not so good...ahem

 

I'm doing the Level Up! 2022 event and I've been stuck trying to figure out a game with a common plat to play. Nothing in my PS4 library so with an extra $2 in my PSN wallet I got The Pig D. Whatever, a My Name Is Mayo knockoff I thought. It was but at least Mayo tried to add a little humor. Piggy just asks you to hold R1 for a few minutes and boom, platinum achieved. All I got from that experience were some trophies and knowledge that my R1 button is fully functional. Just bad and I feel bad. It is my new fastest platinum, there to likely forever haunt my milestones. The Big D indeed!

 

Did bump up my complettion % up a little chunk though.

Good month overall.  Only played 3 games.  The Four Kings Casino and Slots is always a work in progress that I think I will never finish  LOL  Tough game to try to get the trophies on unless you open your wallet.  But why spend real $$ for virtual money that can't be converted back to real money if you win?  Because if you could that would make this game illegal  lol  But I like card and casino games so I'll play it for an hour or so when I can.  Not bad for a free game, but the house odds are insanely tilted even more than a normal casino.  Has a .05% completion percentage, so hope I can pull it off before the servers are closed lol

 

Platted Plague Tale which was a brand new game, and that boosted me about .4% when finished.  Platted AC 3 Remastered yesterday and that one was already on the profile so that was a nice .75% bump.  Will play through AC Liberation next which is already on the profile too so should be sitting around 73.75 or so when done.  Then I'm gonna have some clean up stuff for FFVII remake and Yakuza 0.  Things will run a little slow there as it's not much trophy wise, but will be a lot time wise.  Also my old PS4 that died had my old save file for Yakuza 0.  And it was before I had plus or was smart enough to back up the save files.  I have one on my current PS4, but not sure exactly how far along in the game that one was.  Oh well, good news will be I loved the game so it would be a pleasure to experience that one again despite its difficulty.

I wound up not really finishing anything other than stories this month, falling back into bad habits just consuming main content and moving on like some sort of digital locust.  The one constant has been slowly making progress in Clicker Heroes, I'm determined to finish it without utilizing the glitch.  According to PS Wrap-Up I pumped 236 hours into it last year alone.  I found out Friday that I'm going to be in the field for pretty much the whole month of March for medical coverage, so expect me to pump in a bunch of shovelware just before I go.  I'll be needing to get my serotonin preemptively; that ding has pretty much become my Pavlov's Bell.

 

Since my last update I've completed the stories through to AC: Black Flag, but then I got an itch for Pokemon, so I wound up playing Nexomon.  Turns out I enjoyed it so much I immediately started it again for the other platform.  Haven't touched Super Meat Boy since the last update, but I plan to finish that last level for the main story sometime in the next couple of weeks. 

 

I'm still at 3/10 tiers for the Platinum Difficulty Challenge and am now at 12 squares (1 Bingo) for Bingo Bonanza.

Bloodborne:

Not much to say about this, had just platinumed Darksouls 1 and Sekiro and jumped straight in to this. Got maybe 2/3 through but needed a break from Soulsborne. Plan on getting this for plat #40 though.

Medal of Honor:

I have had this game on my profile for 9 years. For 7 years all I had left was 3 Tier 1 levels for plat. Well, I spent a couple hours one afternoon doing this and finally got the plat! Only took 9 years 3 months ? Fps games are not my thing anymore so felt nice getting this one done. Also it's my rarest plat on this account!

Crash Team Racing:

Just jumped on while I couldn't think of what to play for an hour, got 2 trophies.

 

69% --> 71%

 

The Evil Within:

Another big one for me. This has sat at 1% on my file since 2014. I finished up my no upgrade/first playthrough yesterday. I've bought all the DLC and planning on this being my next plat, if AKUMU doesn't break me. I've not really played this genre before (never even touched Resident Evil) and probably won't be after this. Still, will be very happy to complete it.

Golf Club Wasteland
RPGolf Legends 61%

 

Managed to get the platinum in RPGolf Legends after somebody posted all the club locations on True Achievements. Really fun game that I enjoyed the whole way through. Ended up taking just over 30 hours to get the plat, but that could definitely be cut down to 20 or so. I followed that up with Golf Club Wasteland which I didn't enjoy as much. It was fine for one play through, but the Iron Mode was just annoying even with the quit trick. I finished it on mute since I was tired of the repeating radio messages and songs. Oh well, at least I waited until it was on sale to get it.

 

I'm going to to try and get a few more quick trophies done before the big monthly update, but then my % will drop after that since I'll be starting a couple more new games. Hopefully I can balance that out with some progress in my challenge games. We'll see! I'm aiming to hit 51% before Elden Ring comes out.

Demon Souls - PS5

Right...I was stuck at farming Pure Bladestone. Decided to turn my WT into PB by killing myself 6 or 7 times (lost count) and there you go; 5th run I got the least dropped material of Demon Souls! Happy days! Needed to finish off with the Mephistopheles quest line to get my very last ring. Killing a certain NPC will get you that ring as a reward but...the game decided to give me something completely different ?. Searched the internet but no topics were made. Luckily I had not uploaded my save game anymore so, deleted it and downloaded my old save game to try again. Again, same result. Third time I took a different approach by not pre-killing some NPC's and this time I got the ring! Now I only needed to get Pure Bladestone again ....but PB WT did the trick again and after that it was just wrapping up the NG+ for a new shining platinum!

 

Mafia III + DLC (1/3) - PS4

I saw a poster in this thread talking about cleaning up the DLC of Mafia III, so inspired by that I jumped on it again. Apart that the AI is pretty crap, the music, the setting, etc, are super great. Enjoying my cleaning up.

This week was insane irl. Some serious situation happened with one of my kids and that will continue to have an impact for the foreseeable future as we move through the legal process. We will be on the prosecuting side, not the defensive side of the case. Anyway, that messed up most of my week and threw off my sleeping pattern, which admittedly isn't too uncommon. 

 

• Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands - Started the Fallen Ghosts DLC. Glad to see this one is more challenging and making me be more methodical to clear bases instead of the smash and grab style I did Narco Road in. 
• Tails of Iron - I got to about the halfway point of the game and hit a wall since I was playing on the highest difficulty. Died to the same boss literally 100+ times. With the stress at home, I didn't feel like pushing this, so Sunday night while I wasn't sleeping, I started up an easy mode playthrough and smashed through it in one sitting and got the platinum. This was so I could contribute what I needed to for the trophy guide. I'll still be finishing the other playthrough for the DLC trophies and the DLC guide.
• The Banner Saga - I don't know why I started this. It was counter to my plans for the month and dropped me from having a great week to being back below the pace for my annual goal. I shouldn't have started it. This is not to say that I'm not enjoying the game. I really like tactical turn-based combat. I played through this game about six years ago, but I don't remember anything except I liked it and someone important lost an arm. I'll probably put together a guide on PSNP for this too.
• Infamous Second Son - I finished the evil side playthrough and cleared the map 100% which was tied to a lot of trophies. I'm working through the hard mode playthrough with good karma, but this game isn't very hard even on that setting. It shouldn't be too much longer for this platinum.

Dead Cells (79% -> 84%):

Took me a few days to get back to where I was after my last 5BC run got fucked. I got the Scarecrow no hit trophy (I'm pretty good at this fight now though lol) and a couple others that I had missed in the last run. I've got the Hand to kill and then

through the last two areas and the real final boss with no hit.

This will finish up the free DLCs, and will just need to get a random drop from one specific level, and do the new DLC (Queen). That shouldn't be nearly as time consuming since I think I can do it on 0BC which will be SO EASY compared to this 5BC run... lol

 

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart: (19% -> 42%) :

So I have finished the normal ending and now the grind begins for the True Ending. This requires all 22 characters to have a Lily rank of 100, but you can only get 1 Lily rank per skill use. So this takes literally forever. I have finished 3 characters so far. At least with each character completed, the  next one will take less time. Hope to have this done.. in like two weeks. I think that is reasonable for me. Lol.

 

We will see everyone's progress tomorrow with the first official update!
