I platinumed Doom in 2019 I think but had no interest in 100% at the time leaving at 70% completion. Thanks to this event, I was inspired to get it from the library and try and finish it off. The remaining trophies were very easy, had to do a couple playthroughs in the arcade mode and then basically just play the MP. Some of the easiest MP trophies I've seen, mainly kill with X weapon/ demon and use X taunt. The remaining trophies are equally easy, play a match with X armor equipped however the grind for them is real. Bare minimum I will need to reach Echelon (Prestige in Doom) Rank VIII for the last armor type. Currently I'm Rank II and that only took 6-7 hours so it could be worse. I think this now makes 5 games completed out of the dozen or so I popped trophies in. This update sees me at exactly a 3% increase for the year so far and that is pretty exciting to me. Grim Fandango Not sure what possessed me to do this game this week but I managed to suffer through the horrible tank controls and knock out the platinum in 3-4 days. I only seemed to remember bits and pieces of the game from the first time I played it years ago. Definitely an interesting point and click adventure and one I'm glad I played through again. I have to admit some of the puzzle solutions and dialogue really are quite hilarious. While you sort of get used to the tank controls I would have much preferred to not have to for the completion. Ratchet & Clank Played this game the most this week as I spent a few evenings grinding weapon levels after starting up my challenge mode run. I probably could have just kept swapping guns instead while working through the story again and saved myself a bunch of hours. Oh well... every enemy went down fast and easy with a fully upgraded Ryno. It really does break the game IMO. The only trophy I was slightly worried about was the Death by Disco trophy where you had to use the Groovitron gun on every enemy type in the game. It popped as expected though after making the final boss get his groove on. Fun game and am now looking forward to playing the newest Ratchet & Clank game sometime in the near future. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands Started on the Fallen Ghosts dlc this week and I am really liking it so far. It seems more challenging and makes you play missions and objectives with more stealth and methodical kills than before. It is not so easy to come in Hot, Smash and Grab and GTFO to complete missions now and sometimes near impossible. Will continue working on this as time allows and get that 100% in this game finally. I need to check in more often next month, it's interesting to see what everyone's up to even if I don't have much to report. Month start: 44.92% Month end: 45.61% New Games I started two new games in January and saw the endings of both of them. I can't even tell you how unusual that is for me, a serial game abandoner. Final Fantasy VII Remake - 46 trophies, 55% completion Such a great game, I'm still impressed by how well they've done justice to the original. This took up the lion's share of my gaming time for January; over the course of several weeks I completed the story and have started a Hard playthrough and the Yuffie DLC. Manifold Garden - 21 trophies, 85% completion Bought on sale nearly a year ago because I read a glowing review when it originally came out on PC, finally got around to trying it. It turned out to be a pretty cool puzzle game, even if the gravity-flipping gave me VR-style nausea at first. Old Games What I noticed looking through my profile for this event is all the shameful E-rank games. Some of them just aren't for me and I'd delete the trophies if I could, but there's plenty of others that I forgot about or just didn't have time for. Hopefully I can cross a few of those off by the end of the year. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles - 10 trophies, 100% completion Spent a few hours on New Year's Day wrapping up the miscellaneous trophies I'd missed. Probably my favourite Ace Attorney game ever, but this wasn't exactly fun gameplay, just using chapter select and slowly auto-advancing dialogue to get to the right spots to tidy things up. Dungeon Encounters - 13 trophies, 20% completion I bought this in the autumn close to launch because of positive chatter, then played it and bounced right off. Exploring a void just to play the world's most basic JRPG combat did not make a good first impression. I read the guide here and realised how much I'd misinterpreted the game, and had fun for a morning using the exploration tricks to break it wide open. Want to play more at some point. Hades - 1 trophy, 66% completion Love Hades but I didn't play it much this month, just picked up an extremely quick trophy to keep my unexpected streak going on a busy day. Burnout Paradise Remastered - 2 trophies, 18% completion I had legitimately forgotten this existed until I was browsing my game collection looking for inspiration for this event. I'm not a racing game fan in general but Burnout Paradise is the exception, so I installed it and messed around with it for a bit. Torment: Tides of Numenera - 15 trophies, 36% completion This was one of my shameful E-ranks where I played for two hours max, was overwhelmed, fell off and never came back. Glad I've picked it up again - it's no Planescape Torment, but it turns out to be pretty entertaining anyway. Planning to finish this one in February. It's a situation where things were found out before something serious happened. So I'm just doing my best to make sure that the person won't be returning to the same school, can't legally be near my daughter, and gets some help. It is something serious enough that he will be facing charges with just having planned to do the thing, and hasn't actually done the thing. I really can't believe this is something happening in my real life. Anyway, for Banner Saga, I did notice the same thing you did. If I had to guess, only fans kept with the later installments and the fans were more likely to stick it out. This is one of those trilogies where you needed to have played the first game, to understand the second, etc. The numbers of owners supports that theory. 17k for first game 3.5k for second, and 1.5k for the third. I haven't researched it though. It could be that the trophy lists get easier to complete in a single playthrough etc. But I particularly enjoy making guides for more niche games. I've done Infamous SS and First Light in the past. So I know about the grind in the the follow-up. Just a bunch of the same arena stuff and knocking out high scores for the various modes. Also, I've done Doom before. I really enjoyed the experience on the journey to platinum, but avoided the DLC stuff, like you. I might revisit it knowing its not that bad except for a echelon grind. Is that based on our starting percentage of the challenge, or is it reset at the start of each month? For example I'm pretty close to hitting my second percentage increase but I'd rather hit that after Feb starts. That however is a massive grind fest, I’m level 45 and 1/3. Decided to combine the grind with a couple of other games and gone back to start tackling Trackmania Turbo. Managed to get my first Trackmaster award ? and some other misc one. All in all, eeeking close to my starting %!! This weeks plans are to get into the 47-48 range for GTS levels and perhaps see where TT takes me in between. Got Borderlands GOTY in the wing as well should I want to grab something a little easier and shooty ?. Started off the year at a good pace compared to last year by completing two games & starting two new ones. Going in alphabetical order we have: Cooking Mama Cookstar: a cooking simulator making it's first appearance on Playstation. That's a guess. I've only ever known of them on the Nintendo DS. Feeding Frenzy 2: arcade game on the PS3. Horizon Chase Turbo: on rails racing simulator. I started playing the Vita version recently, & it looks to be a nice pick up & play title for short bursts. Loading times could be worlds better though. Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memories: jamming through KH soundtracks. I find these games challenging, but based on the rarity, I'm in the minority. Playstation Vita Pets: Playstation's unpolished pet simulator. The Walking Dead Season 2: started this for two reasons; I like to earn a platinum or 100% on my birthday (& currently, I've got nothing even remotely close I can do by then), & I bought it, it's sitting on the shelf, might as well play it. Basically this month was chilling with mindless games. I’m aiming for 1% a month or just under 40% by the end of the year. However I also want to get my overall stat up which is at a dismal 13.87%, I’ve got into a bad habit of buying games when they are on sale, saying I will play them eventually and then not. So I’d like to get that up to 33% by the end of the year. Then I turned right around and did my second playthrough on crushing and tried to clean up some combat related trophies as I went. I'm going to start into my brutal playthrough tonight I think. Ghost Giant VR (PSVR) 0% --> 19% Decided to go through another shortish VR title and this one seems to have good reviews. Starting this gave me a negative % for the week, but I should have it done in the next few days. I've only played a couple hours. I think I'm about 75% through the story, then I'll clean up some trophies via chapter select. Up Next: - Starting through the brutal playthrough on Uncharted 3 tonight. After that I'll do the speed run trophies and finally clean up any misc. combat trophies at the end that I didn't get naturally. I doubt I'll get all of that done in one week, but working on this will probably be 90% of my gaming time. - Finish Ghost Giant VR. I'm expecting it to be short and sweet. - No progress this week: LEGO Avengers & Marvel Super Heroes, Kena. The controls are much more difficult especially when trying to get through a curve. Just found myself coming back to the game and after making some headway I finally finished the Platinum. 2) Complete a non-platinum game: Arcade Archives: Terra Cresta. Hadn't really played any of these much, pretty fast 100%. 3) Complete a PS Plus game: ABZU. Had finished the story long ago , but played through it again for the missing collectibles. Good Journey like story, nuff said. 4) Move 5 games up in rank: E-D Daedalus, B-C Monsters Vs. Aliens, C-B Chess Knights, B-A KAZE And The Wild Masks, A-S ABZU. Popular Post theSpirae Posted February 1, 2022 Popular Post Share Posted February 1, 2022 Monthly update - January Starting 67.31% Current 69.05% (+1.74%) Goal 73% (3.95% to go) Trophies Earned: 145 January ended up way better than I expected. I was on sick leave for one week but luckily felt well enough to play games. I got 100% in Mafia. It was a nice nostalgic trip and I recommend the game to everyone. Finally got 100% in Battlefield 1 after 4 years. I did all the multiplayer trophies without boosting and any exploits ages ago, had to only replay the campaign and get all collectibles. It's amazing to see the game is still way better than the current Battlefield, both visually and the gameplay. Started working on Plants vs Zombies: GW2 to get 100% in the base game (apparently it's not possible to get 100% in the DLC anymore due to EA shutting down some community challenges, oh well). Just missing the last two trophies and it might take some time. Also got 100% in Tropico 5 base game. Might get the DLCs if they ever go on sale for a dollar or two. And started Fury Unleashed. Will never get 100% and won't even attempt it but having a blast so far. Well worth it! My plan for the upcoming months is to play more games from PS Now as my subscription is going to end soon and I'm not sure I'm going to renew it. I will probably wait for Sony to announce their new pass and see all the available tiers before I extend the current PS Now sub. haven't had that much time to game. Did get another Lily rank up yesterday, slowly grinding through that. Dead cells still going strong. I am hoping Minecraft Dungeons DLC pack goes on sale soon so I can do that. The tower is dumb hard, stuck on level 21 or 22 or so. Might have to restart and go for a different build for that specific level UGH. lol. I need more time for Final Fantasy 14. Haven't been able to play that much. But I did gain a company rank, so I just need to do the last one and I will get that trophy. The triple triad trophy is daunting, but I fucking love that mini game, so am actually excited to grind that out. Hoping the RNG for it isn't absolute garbage though, since it seems to be most of the time. Still need to get through the story and there is so much more grinding ahead. Demon Souls. Man. I just have too many games and not enough time lmao. Need to set time aside for this master piece game as well. Was making good progress and then freaking Dead Cells came out with more trophies lol. Will probably go back once Dead Cells is back to 100%. These are the challenges I think I got: Finish a DLC for a game you have already completed. Get a UR trophy. Game must be atleast two months old. Both with Dead Cells Seems we have a lot of really good progress. Good job everyone. It's been a productive month, where my excitement about gaming and trophy hunting got somewhat invigorated once again. I ended up earning 185 trophies, which is definitely higher than average for me, and I finally approached 0.99 trophies per day mark on my profile. So close to my 1.00 goal! This month was a good mixture of clean-up and new games, and I ended up with an overall increase of 2.92% for my completion rate. I see myself lowering it again significantly in February, as I am planning to start several new games. I am, however, continuing to work on the older games, so the goal for this month is going to be to just stay at about the same level. Here's what I did in January: Start Current January Starting PCG 86.71% 89.63% 2.92% Total Started Games 57 59 2 Total Completed Games 40 44 4 Total Platinums 45 50 5 Goal: 92.00% To go: 2.37% Completed Games (100%) It Takes Two: what a game to open the year! Played this one with my husband and we had a blast. I was skeptical about this game winning the Game of the Year, but it completely deserves this title. Each new level is unique and more beautiful than the previous one, and the cooperative puzzle solving results in some serious belly laughs. Highly recommended! Mortal Kombat X: I lost myself in this game for the first two weeks of the year. There is something about NetherRealm fighting games that is very comforting to me. I like to methodically go through the trophy list and complete challenge after challenge. I never go into these games expecting to platinum them, but I am always very motivated to try. Astro's Playroom: I finally got myself a PS5, and so of course I had to make Astro my first PS5 plat. Though I don't generally swoon for platformers, I thought this game truly deserved the praise it got. Cute fun to be had, but I really-really-really hate time trials. The Last of Us Remastered: I was keeping this plat for my 50th milestone, so all I had to do was pick up a collectible to finally finish it. One of the best games I've ever played, but only one trophy can count towards my 2022 completion. Platinumed Games (still need DLC finished) Rise of the Tomb Raider: I'm continuing on my journey through the survival trilogy of the Tomb Raider. It's a little meh on the story, but it makes up for it in gameplay. I'm hoping that any future games in the franchise will come back closer to the TR roots, but who knows at this point. In January, I basically completed the main story and clean-up all the remaining trophies for the plat. I also completed the Baba Yaga DLC. Games in Progress: The Last of Us Part II: having finished the first game, naturally I had to jump into the sequel. I like it. No, more than that - I love it - so far. I see why some people got triggered and all, but none of the criticisms bother me just yet. I'm savoring my time with it. I have only earned some basic trophies at this point, and still have lots to go in the story. Titanfall 2: went back and resumed my story progress with Titanfall. I like this game, but something always distracts me from it. I'm determined to finish it soon, but so far I've only earned some mission-related trophies and a few kill-specific ones. Friday the 13th: it's not dead yet! I am steadily working on this one, boosting some matches with Jason and councilors almost every day. Yesterday I managed to pop the 500 matches with councilors trophy. If I continue at this pace, I should be done in 1-1.5 months. Rayman Legends: currently I am only working on the daily and weekly challenges, but I'm hoping to clear out some story-related trophies this coming month. Sofa King Posted February 1, 2022 Share Posted February 1, 2022 Figured I'd summarize my month of January and take a little trip down memory lane Starting %: 78.91 Total Trophies: 240 Monthly Challenges Completed:9 Current %: 79.57 (+0.66%) Total : 8 Games Played Mortal Shell Earned 1 trophy in the DLC and haven't been back. I will eventually but for now it'll sit until the urge hits me. Find Me Earned ,fun puzzle/platformer that was pretty enjoyable overall. Teslagrad Earned finally. I just wanted it done and off my backlog. Corridor Z 100% complete, endless runner with zombies. This one was alot of fun. Bucket Knight Earned , Holiday Sale purchase that was ok but nothing memorable. Shady Part of Me Earned , Loved the art style and another enjoyable puzzle/platformer. Spartan Earned 3 trophies. Kind of a tough game. Platforming and moon physics are not a good mix. Chipping away at it slowly. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series Earned , standard TT fare with a pretty good story line. Burnout Paradise Remastered Earned 2 trophies and finished a DLC. Another slow chipper for when I'm in a racing game mood. Deadlight Director's Cut Earned 1 trophy for the survival time challege. Still have one to complete along with Nightmare mode, which is aptly named. Shiny Earned , another off the Holiday Sale, decent platformer for the price. 9 Monkeys of Shaolin Earned , kung fu beat 'em up and another Holiday Sale purchase. Not bad but my hard playthrough was a button mashing fest Don't Die Mr. Robot Earned 11 trophies, fun time killer. 2 trophies to finish but they're going to be tough. I'll finish it sooner or later. Star Wars Battlefront II Earned 2 trophies that I never thought I'd have the patience for. One more for the plat, which will be very soon. The Pig D Earned , let's just forget this one, Piggy ain't no Mayo So that's a wrap on January '22! It'll likely be my best of the year only due to two weeks of the 'rona giving me alot of gaming time. Still though, I'm pleased with the progress I've made thus far in this event and am really enjoying being a part of it.
