Dauntless has been taking up most of my gaming time lately, even more than Sunbreak. Just one more trophy to go for the base game, but it's the "reach Mastery level 40" one so that will take a while. I'm currently at mastery level 34 though so it won't be too bad. Plus. there's plenty of expansion trophies to work on while grinding away at that level 40 one. I also eked out a couple more trophies in Gems of War, but now I'm truly done with the game for a bit. It would take too much time and / or money to progress further and I don't really feel like spending either on it right now.

 

Started working on Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate for the summer challenge and I should be able to finish it by Wednesday. I'm just following along with videos to make clearing the levels go by faster, and will self-boost the multiplayer between my PS4 and Vita. And lastly, I got all the Trials of the Dragon King trophies done in Stranger of Paradise so I'm back up to 100% in that. I played some of it normally, and then finished it out with the Liberator + Extra mode trick and farming that one mission shown in the guide for Dragon Treasures. I still plan on messing around with it some more to level up more jobs, etc, but it's nice to have the trophies out of the way.

 

For this week, more Dauntless and Pixeljunk Shooter. Then Axiom Verge is up next for the summer challenge.

Elden Ring

This is my first Soulsbourne game and I gotta say I'm loving the ride so far. Trophies are few and far between and have been plugging away. I was following the Platinum Walkthrough, but am easily distracted by shining object and stray off the walkthrough path - if i was following the guide to a T i would be roughly level 44 - I'm sitting at a measly level 109. I have died too many times to my own self confidence and stupidity. 

 

Crash 4

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a sucker for Crash. I have waited on this but could pass it up due to it being free. I downloaded it, wanted to start it in my holidays in 6 weeks but the temptation was too great. Feel different but very familiar. I'm dreading the platinum relics but will have a crack. 

 

Horizon 2

It has grown on me and I have really enjoyed playing while I was in ISO from COVID. I think I'm having a second bout and will pick this up again and finish it if I test positive. 

 

My big learning is that I need to stop starting games at months end.....

Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) 59% --> 100% Plat #96 Achieved!

 

I finally finished this after... 10 years, 5 months!! I think that this was the oldest possible game on my profile, so it was really nice to get this one finished finally. It wasn't too hard, just took some time commitment and a willingness to be organized outside of the game with a spread sheet to keep track of everything for the Treasure Hunter Trophy. Overall, I enjoyed the game. I can see why a lot of people don't like this as a Final Fantasy game, but I enjoyed it for what it was. I like the stagger and paradigm battle system as a nice change of pace. That Treasure Hunter trophy was a serious headache though.

 

 Titanfall 2 (PS4) 0% --> 100% Plat #97 Achieved!

 

A friend from work and I each challenged each other to complete a game that we ourselves had already done. I gave my friend Resident Evil, and he gave me Titanfall 2. What a great game this is! The campaign is fantastic and I can see why everyone is asking for Titanfall 3. I was really unsure if I'd be able to complete this one since I am terrible at FPS on console (I usually play any FPS with a mouse and keyboard) but I did manage to pull it off in the end. It took a lot of practice for the ...Becomes a Master trophy, but it finally happened.  I went from realizing that I wasn't good enough and that I'd probably have to forget about the plat, to a few hours later after seeing slow steady progress finally getting that one magical run. I was so excited to finally have it done that I forgot to save the gameplay of the run. So I went back the next day to see if I could replicate the feat.... and after 3-4 hours I still couldn't do it again. It really was a one in a blue moon occurrence.

 

Urban Trial Freestyle (PS3) 33% --> 100% (non-plat game)

 

With my new found confidence of pulling off something I didn't think I was capable of I moved over to this game. The game requires you to 5-star every track in the game (40 of them) and I had tried previously and had low-key given up due to the difficulty and the requirement on many tracks to both utterly perfect the track AND get lucky. Well, after much perseverance (many tracks took many many hundreds of attempts to pull off) and going through the same cycle of "this is entirely impossible, I'm giving up" to "I'm so close, it'll happen any run now!" on most every track I finally managed it. It's probably the single most difficult trophy I've ever earned and I'm super proud of myself. *self back pat*. This was another really old game cleaned off of my backlog at 9 years, 5 months. So yeah, super pumped about this month's trophy accomplishments.

 

Up Next:

 

- I'm thinking I'll do something quick and not so difficult and go back and do the DLC for Bugsnax.

- I'm debating on doing another old backlog game since I'm on a roll. I'm thinking maybe either Uncharted 4 or The Last of Us Remastered. Any recommendations from anyone on one of those (or any other game on my backlog) that they think isn't too bad?

Hey dude. Can certainly recommend both Uncharted 4 and Last of Us Remastered. They're both on my to-do list so if you want to take a run at the multiplayer for either, I'm up for it. Timings may suck but I need to get them done at some point. ?

After getting the plat in God of War the previous week I dabbled in a few titles before setting, earned a trophy in Persona 5 where I making exceptionally slow progress in my first blind play through - just beat another palace and waiting for the timer to come up for a guaranteed trophy!

 

Ended up settling into Last of us part 2, finishing my half blind play through already, got 8 more trophies typical in a first play through and i did enjoy the story, still not a patch on the first game though.

 

This week I intend to continue flipping between Persona 5 and last of us 2, following a guide on the latter for collectables alongside permadeath.  Oh and the daily grinding of fates in Final fantasy XIV.

I have only beaten each level once on the easiest difficulty but solo Crushing is possible:

It takes a ton of work to do, from the little poking around on the subject I have done, it would take like 40-50 hours for all leveling and unlocks needed. Occasionally people will put up a session to carry others so I check that every once in a while, even then though it takes around 2 hours to complete all 10 stages.

Yeah, it's a time sink. A very boring time sink. Doing it solo even on Easy I was so bored, can't imagine a whole work week worth of it. 

 

To nab those 10 trophies it was worth a few hours, but 40+ on the last 2... I'll wait my turn to be carried if I ever bother with it.

Hoping this is me to be honest. I've got about 3 or 4 games that just need a little bit more time on each. I'm hoping August and September will be decent for it. I am changing jobs too though. 

 

I plan to make October all about doing Spyro 2 and 3 as a bit of a last ditch attempt to boost my %

So June ended with me going back to The Last of Us Part II after 2 years to complete the free DLC trophies. I beat Permadeath in ~22 hours and was enjoying the story but by the time I got to the farm where Ellie broke my heart I started skipping cutscenes. TLOU2 is a good game but to me is overly long or maybe just too drawn out - I have played the original probably 8-10 times and never had that feeling, maybe because the "Day 1" sections in 2 are really long then the next 2 days are like fast forward. I don't know but it's whatever. July 1st, the day after finishing my Permadeath run, I blitzed a NG+ Grounded run with Tweaks enabled, it was great one shotting everything, especially the Rat King boss fight. (After the Museum part, Ground Zero where you fight the Rat King was my second favorite part of this game. I am always so tense in this part of the game - amazing atmosphere.) Grounded took ~9 hours and I finally had 100% in this game, then it was time to take a trip to my past.

 

Syphon Filter. The first shooter I really got into. Lot of good memories playing this with my cousin, tazing enemies until they caught fire laughing in glee as only kids can. How we spent an eternity in the Subway because we didn't know you had to press Triangle to climb to the next level after the explosion. The intuitive boss fights where you had to think outside of the box on how to kill them. Good times. Even with the dated controls, I loved my time with the game, however brief. Took just over a day to platinum it, the rewind feature really helped keep any frustration I had low. I hope and pray the sequels get re-released as Classics on the PS4, I gotta complete the set. After my great trip down memory lane though, I had a loathsome trip to follow it.

 

Crash freaking Bandicoot. This game pissed me off to no end at times. Where to begin, ah keeping with the nostalgia. When I was kid this was a game my cousin owned, he and another frequently played it together but I never did so they wouldn't let me play it because I would die really quick and cost them their lives. Fast forward 20ish years and I got the PS4 collection and again I'm dying really quick only this time it MY lives I'm losing (I kinda get why my cousins didn't want me playing now LOL). For 4 and half years I have been playing this on and off but last month I finally made the time to complete it. I already posted my tribulations in detail in another post so I'll cover the next bit short and sweet. I finally beat Cortex, got all 26 gems then after near 200 lives got the gem in Stormy Ascent (DLC level), leaving just the time trials. Previously, I had completed near half of them, the rest mostly were not overly hard but I did end up completing the 2 hardest in the game: The High Road and Stormy Ascent. Personally, I thought The High Road was the easier of the 2. After this, miracle came another.

 

In 2020, my PS3 stopped playing Blu-Ray discs, on occasion I'll pop a game in just to test it as a futile gesture. On a whim, I rented Darksiders from the library and when I popped it in, my baby miraculously read it. Thus begin my journey to once more redeem War and clear his name. I had a goodtime with Darksiders, last time (over 12 years ago) I borrowed it from a friend for a week and had to rush through it. I still beat it fast this time around too but enjoyed it more for whatever reason. Apocalyptic, at the start at least, reminded me of Dark Souls, I attack you attack in a dance of death until I finally persevered and started getting abilities and gear that made the game easier. After getting the platinum, it was time exit the way back machine and play something new.

 

Okay maybe not new "new" but new to me. I rented Lollipop Chainsaw and played through it next. I have heard a lot about this game and was surprised by how non-sexy I guess you could say it was. There was a lot of tongue in cheek jokes like: during a fight Nick saying: "Hey! That one looked up your skirt, kill him!" or Jluiet saying:  "I hope those guys below don't look up and see my pink butt." on the gondola mini-game or the loading screen saying "Please don't look up my skirt." I enjoyed the writing and the music and I am looking forward to hearing more about the remake. Now I know everyone is dying to know about "that" trophy, I was a gentlemen and waited for "I swear! I did it by mistake!" to be my last before the platinum. Honestly though, I thought it might pop during normal play but the camera controls in a way where you really need to try to do it. After "rewarding" myself with this game, I went back to my backlog.

 

Next up on the backlog chopping block was Dishonored - The Brigmore Witches DLC. This was pretty challenging to do as I was going for a Low Chaos, No Deaths, No Alerts run. I was also going for the Enough Coin to Disappear trophy where you need 10,000 coins and a Low Chaos rating which means basically buying no upgrades. I found a coin guide that shows where all money is located in each mission but I had to then figure out how to stealthily get all that loot meeting the aforementioned restrictions. Some areas were really frustrating but I managed most areas fairly quickly but others had me reloading constantly until I got the perfect method. Sadly, completing this DLC did not give me 100% in Dishonored, I still have the indomitable Dunwall City Trials which quite frankly can stay incomplete. Speaking of staying incomplete.

 

Call of Duty: Black Ops II or as I call it, the other freaking COD game my brother put on my list. BLOPS2 was actually a game I had tried to cleanup it in 2020 just before my PS3 stopped reading Blu-Rays so I was kinda nervous going for it again. Fingers crossed I popped the disc and... IT DIDN'T WORK! Almost panicked but I remembered that after a firmware update or something a lot of the old COD's got a little wonky when trying to start up - the console would freeze while loading to the main menu (see BLOPS2 forums for solution if needed). After jumping through the required hoops I finally got the game going and played through the lackluster campaign. I found it to be tedious and clunky compared to Ghosts which I played earlier this year and really enjoyed. I managed to complete the campaign and the majority of the miscellaneous trophies leaving the Veteran trophies and the Giant Accomplishment one for completing all 160 side missions (10 per level). I'll probably do Veteran but 160 missions is incredibly tedious so I may give those a pass and zombies can get in the bin. I played one game to round 11 in a group and was so bored and confused and I'm sure the DLC is still overpriced so pass on this too. On top of that the Platinum is unobtainable so I'll get what I can and leave this game behind.  

 

Speaking of leaving things behind, I played a few rounds of Extinction in Call of Duty: Ghosts, and no one was left behind in my Relic run on the Onslaught map. I also managed to get 3 missing intel I needed for that map so I only have 3 trophies left in that DLC.

 

Okay, I am out of transitions for this last bit. July was a pretty successful month for me. I got over 120 trophies, nabbed 4 platinums, and I am finally able to get at my disc based PS3 backlog. For August, I'd like to chip away at the PS3 backlog some more and go back to Kingdom Come Deliverance for at least the platinum and maybe a hardcore run for 100%. Hey dude. Can certainly recommend both Uncharted 4 and Last of Us Remastered. They're both on my to-do list so if you want to take a run at the multiplayer for either, I'm up for it. Timings may suck but I need to get them done at some point.

hi i got games like ni no kuni 2 revenant kingdom nioh 1 and 2 dbz kakarot miles morales spiderman and the first spiderman but my goal is to reach 40% for this year so i would be glad if i can stil join this event on psnprofiles that would be great

Yeah. There were microtransactions in it but sod that for a game of soldiers. I ain't parting with cash. 

 

I've got a job change coming up in 2 weeks so my schedule is likely to be all over the shop but as and when you boys are free, let me know and I might be about to squeeze in a couple of sessions.

I played the game from the original disc, sold that and I do have the Uncharted collection from a plus month. Is that the same trophy list?
