How to get Slayer point boost rumor

From what I recall it is supposed to be random when you give the rumour guy a gold offering. Tried for a bit myself but he kept giving other random crap so I decided it was a waste of time.

The Maze is far and away the best form of SP yes. The Magic hairpin gotten from Illecebra is key to getting large amounts of points in the maze. Get the silver version off the Illecebra monster fight in the story by breaking her stomach. The gold version just allows you to hold an enemy in place for an extra second and for the purposes of getting SP that is irrelevant. Make sure you upgrade the hairpins to 3 stars as you need the uses. You also need a method of chain attacking the enemy when they're in hell status of which there are 3 methods. The first is the venom blanket which causes a pool of venom on the floor and if the boss is frozen while on it then it'll chain attack, but the problem is unless they're backed up against a wall then they'll likely move off the pool. The other way is to use the apple summon which summons 6 apples who hit for venom damage and I'd say is superior to the venom blanket. Though they can be annoying to use in level 3 as you'll summon them near one boss and the AI might decide it'd rather go attack the boss on the other side of the map.

You can only use 2 hairpins but if you equip the hand sigil that gives you +1 offering then you'll be able to equip 3. 3 hairpins + apple summon + maxed regen heal+ + Chthonian Claws+ is a good load out to take. Make sure the allies you take are ranked up especially if they're not Sanctuarium people as bosses will be able to take them out and that'll waste you time. Also avoid anyone that has some manner of venom move as they will be able to chain attack with it yes, but you won't get the points as you yourself are not chain attacking. Make sure to only do the first 3 levels as later stages aren't worth the extra time it takes to clear them. Use your hairpins until they're red (the message comes up) but don't break them until you get to stage 3 so you can restore their uses with the 2 mushrooms that will be present. You can break one if a blue rabbit spawns though which can happen on any of the stages.

In terms of bosses. Flying bosses aren't on the ground most of the time so chain attacking them is a pain so just kill them quickly. The Hydra type boss (there are 2 of them) can give you a lot of points by breaking their tentacles so you can skip hairpinning them unless they're in stage 3 and the other boss is a flying one. If you stop attacking after breaking their tentacles they will do a move (tentacles go into the ground) where they regen them so you can break them again. Hairpin the rest.

10+ difficulty Illecebra missions should certainly drop the gold hairpin but... don't bother. Just get the silver one. You're going to need 24 of the things and while Illecebra does drop 2 at a time, it'll take you longer to get the gold ones then silver ones. All gold has over silver is you can hold it longer, but you shouldn't be holding it long anyway.
