How's the PS3 MP in 2022?

For those coming from home page, this is for the PS3 version of the game.

 

I've recently finished all the zombies related trophies and I'm planning to start the multiplayer. While I know that the best option is to find a group to boost everything, it's hard, especially considering that 6 people are needed for some trophies (I know that some challenges will need to be boosted, but that's better than the entire game).

 

Elaborating bettter, my main questions in here are:

1. Is there any ocurrency of hackers that can autopop your trophies? (Like on BO2)
2. Which game modes are populated? Only TDM, Domination and FFA?
3. Does the game run well? It was horrendous at launch

The most recent answer that I could find for my questions is this comment on another thread, but would be great to hear others as well.

1. I already heard that they exist but never encountered any of them in 4 months of playing but to be sure when you see someone that has aimbot, leave the match.

2. Basically only TDM is active but you can find some matches on FFA.

3. Game runs fine most of the time but sometimes FPS drops to hell.

Another thing to keep in mind, which won't matter if you are boosting..but will be an issue playing legit is....the game uses peer hosted servers....and there is no host migration. I don't think there is any way to tell who the "host" is, but if that person quits the game, it suddenly ends and you lose any/all progress made. 

 

This was years ago, but this game was abandoned as quickly as it was released....so *maybe* there is a patch that allows for host migration, but I doubt it.

So... I've recently finished the game, I'm going to answer a few questions that might come in mind of those who plan on playing yet. In total it took me 80 hours to finish the MP (50 hours boosting and 30 hours playing with randoms), that time can be reduced to 60 hours if you boost everything and even less if you are the only player farming in your boosting group.

 

Is the game dead? Can I find any lobbies?

That will vary according to the region that you play. BO3 matchmaking is the worst on the franchise, the game doesn't expand regions and will limit you to lobbies of your own region. If you are not from SA, NA, EU and maybe OCE/JP you will not be able to play with randoms at all.

 

Which game modes are populated?

I was only able to find TDM. If you are from EU or NA you might be able to find FFA, Domination and S&D, but that's about it.

 

Does the game run well?

Nope, not at all, FPS drops like crazy. Still playable tho.

 

What about the connection? Is it stable?

I can assure you that the host when playing with randoms is always going to be someone using neighbors wifi while downloading the entire google database. During your boosting session, even with everyone having a good internet, you will have a lot of trouble keeping all 6 players together for a long time, always restart the PS3 if out of nowhere you guys start having trouble connecting to each other (that's assuming that y'all managed to play together at some point).

 

Is the game infested with hackers? Can they autopop trophies like in BO2?

I have played more than 100 matches with randoms and only found hackers in like 5 of those, that's a good margin I think. As far as I'm aware, mod menus on BO3 doesn't have the option to autopop trophies (correct me if I'm wrong). If you find a hacker, leave the match, better be safe than sorry.

 

Is the game full of tryhards like in old BF games?

Not that much tbh, I have found way more newcomers than players with high levels, and sometimes the players with high level were worse than someone at level 10. I guess that, considering how badly the game runs, COD veterans are playing other games in the series.

 

I'm a really good COD player and I would like to do as little boosting as possible, what should I boost?

Considering that you will be able to drop 30-40 kills in most TDM matches, I would recommend boosting the following challenges:

• Commando Killer III - Earn 50 Multi-tasker medals (Kill an enemy while climbing over something)
  • While it's totally possible to get with randoms, it'll take a long time. Boosting this will take less than a hour, do a favour to your sanity.
• Wallscraper III - Kill an enemy that is wallrunning 50 times
  • As easy as this sounds, enemies will always leave the wall when you start shooting them.
• Defender III - Kill 50 attackers in objective games
  • That's considering that you will not be able to find domination matches.
• Assault III - Kill 50 defenders in objective games
  • That's considering that you will not be able to find domination matches.
• Destroyer III - Capture an objective or detonate the bomb in objective games 50 times
  • That's considering that you will not be able to find domination matches.
• Takedown III - Kill the flag carrier in Capture the Flag or the satellite carrier in Uplink 50 times
  • CTF and Uplink are dead game modes.
• Bomb Defuser III - Defuse the bomb in Search and Destroy or Demolition 50 times
  • Demolition is a dead game mode. S&D, considering that you are able to find a match, will take a long time.
• Ninja - Get 5 Clutch medals by defusing the bomb when you are the last player alive and enemies are alive in Search and Destroy
  • A pain to get with randoms (if you find a lobby).
• Covering Fire - Defend the flag carrier in Capture the Flag of the satellite carrier in Uplink 25 times
  • CTF and Uplink are dead game modes.

I'm a bad COD player and I would like to do as little boosting as possible, what shoud I boost?

Same challenges as the question above and also the following:

• Stoked III - Earn 20 Triple Kill medals using any Specialist weapon (3 rapid kills)
  • While getting double kills is not that hard, triple kills will require more skill and luck.
• Power Struggle - Kill an enemy that has a specialist Weapon equipped with any Specialist Weapon 10 times
  • If you are not good, the enemy will kill you first.
• Wallcrawler III - Kill an enemy while wallrunning 50 times
  • Possible to get, but will require really good aim.
• Slipshot III - Earn 50 low blow medals. (Kill an enemy while sliding)
  • Shouldn't be that hard using shotguns, but I can see some players having trouble with it.
• Score streak Kills V - Get 1,000 Score streak kills
  • It will probably take a year using only RC-XD, other streaks might be hard for you to get.
• Top Dog III - Finish in 1st place of the Winners Circle in any game mode 100 times
  • Self explanatory.
• Superstar - Win a game and have the most kills and least deaths of all players in the game
  • Self explanatory.

I'm going to boost everything, any tips?

First off, check johncnstntn__'s guide, there are some good strats in there. I'm going to make a comment on the guide with some methods that my group found out to be better for some challenges, check that too. Finally, only boost everything if you manage to find a really dedicated group of players to boost with, it's going to be a long session and some people can't handle it. Huge shoutout to @the_sultan999, @Reptilizer61, @imanol27 and @Nicholasperdisci for helping me out with this game, you guys are the best.

It was a great experience with very responsible guys, I think the hardest thing to get this plat is finding players that are willing to play a lot of long sessions. Anyways guys, nice work and if you want to boost some other ps3 game you can always hit me up

For those thinking about taking this Plat on - think twice and then think twice more 

I have 4 PS3's and in my experience, even with being able to do about 80% of this in FFA matches by myself (and the other 20-30% boosting with others in 6 person modes) - this was just a ridonkulous grind. As others note above, you will need a very reliable group of 6 people, and lots of time. Many multi-hour sessions will be needed.

Well besides the 6-7 calling cards related to Domination, Search and Destroy, Capture the Flag (you need to boost them with others) all the other ones can be completed in TDM where you can only find matches (at least on EU). I've played around 2 days mp and I'm pretty close to getting all career mode challenges (I need 500 sniper kills, around 1800 kills and 250 headshots). I'm also close to 900000 score (You need 1.5 million for a challenge under Game Heroics). I've managed to complete all specialist and boot camp challenges and have done the top dog, top 3, super star and movie star challenges under the Game Heroics category.
