It is cool that we do not need every single collectible for the platinum. Overall looks even easier than Zero Dawn.

I wasn't expecting there to be any difficulty-related trophies, and it's nice to see that confirmed. I'm sure they'll add one later in a DLC, like they did with the first game. Plats for everyone, most A-rank, some S-rank.

No, I apologize. I didn't realise that 50+ easy checklist games were a vast minority in the AAA gaming sphere and that Wolfenstein games were so common! I'll go back to my elitist corner

You'd probably be best waiting for NG+ and U.Hard difficulty and play the whole game on that setting whilst going for the plat if you actively hunt trophies.

Haven't been trophy hunting lately due to everything being such a boring and predictable mess that's just way too easy. Just gonna enjoy the game for what it is though, same like with Elden Ring. But I sure would love it if AAA devs stopped playing it so safe and actually put something nice in for difficulty "junkies" once in a while. Oh well, it is what it is man

Well, I am tired of the sea of easy platinums in modern AAA games. If Forbidden West is anything like Zero Dawn, it's likely it'll be laughably easy even on hard once you actually know what to do. Certainly, open world games can sometimes have far too many repetitive objectives to complete, but at the very least you should have to complete the game on the difficulty it's intended to be played on (which I would argue is a higher difficulty, but even just normal would suffice) to earn the platinum.;

 

"When the measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure" - we've forgotten that achievements were once about what you actually did in a game. They weren't intended to be participation trophies you were entitled to just for finishing the game. If you managed to beat a game on the hardest difficulty, you got an achievement to commemorate that. If you managed to finish every activity, you got an achievement for that. Achievements aren't supposed to be about giving you an easy way to feel that you'd accomplished something, but rather to be milestones that measure how much of a game you've played, and to what extent. Unfortunately people have started to feel entitled to achievements, and as such apparently resent when games actually expect you to put the achieve in achievement.

There's a middle ground between "you earn every trophy as soon as you open up the game" and "you have to finish the game twenty seven times consecutively while doing squats without dying". Surprisingly, nuance exists.

...from folks who wrap so much of their self-worth in the blanket of their PSN Profiles, that they are rendered unable to parse the idea that they still have the option to play a game on a higher difficulty, regardless of the baseline requirements of the platinum. ?

 

Game looks great, I'll be playing it on whatever difficulty feels appropriate to me - and would do anyways, regardless of the platinum requirements

Sony first party titles have always been on the easy side, trophy wise. I think they are all above 55% completed

it's because no one will know that the person played on the highest difficulty, Dr. so it's not cool.

 

lately even the biggest difficulties are getting nerfed tho, at least i don't feel like playing something so incredibly hard anymore even on hard or very hard. Elden Ring probably won't give a fuck to any kind of trending and its gist and trophy listing won't be influenced I hope.

  I don't care about difficulty but the list look kind of boring to me.

  Do not want to look "elitist", but aren't achievements supposed to represent some kind of...achievement ? But first Ratchet&Clank, and then now Horizon ask you to complete only 30% of the game to get platinum.

For some people, going for the trophies is part of the overall experience. From my perspective, this trophy list looks underwhelming (just like R&C list was underwhelming).

 

This is trophy hunting forum after all -- why is it not OK if some people are unhappy with the trophy list? And what's up with all the mocking and laughing emojis?

Sure - for me too - and a good list is always a bonus, I certainly agree.

 

All I'm saying is that a mediocre or unchallenging list is not the end of the world... I'm sure the game still allows for some nice challenge in getting the 100%, whether or not the trophies reflect that. 

Oh, and I'm not mocking - the emoji's show I'm making a joke - it's meant to take the edge off what I'm saying, and make it feel less barbed, not more so - sorry if that doesn't track!

Well I'm in a weird camp here. I don't like my Platinums to be overly difficult for the hell of it. I prefer my games to be more relaxing than challenging. I prefer my experience come from what the game has to offer rather than this idea that I can't have fun because it's not making me rage quit (though I fully expect a NG+/Ultra Hard free DLC to pop up post launch). But at the same time, the increase in lists that only require a part of the game being done is getting a little annoying. I realize I'm also in a weird camp of people who actually LIKE collectables (most of the time)...but still it's nice when I'm not just leaving stuff out there because I don't HAVE to get it. I'm likely going to do anyways, but it makes sense where there's at least one Silver trophy for collecting everything.
