Popular Post HaserPL
After playing with a few buddies and going for all characters in BO4's Blackout mode, I've decided to compile a "guide" for all characters to make it a bit easier as now with all the tryhards, the plat is definitely the hardest one from the series by far. Major credit goes to @Shadow-30031989 for finding some if not most of them, we've just mastered them together. PS. Sorry for the Polish letters, I couldn't change the language of the game even by changing the system's language. First and foremost, Alcatraz mode is your best friend when it comes to unlocking all but four characters, making it waaaaaay easier to unlock them as the map is "glitched" in a positive way when it comes to character's missions. It's also the fastest way of getting 10 wins but that's not the subject of this thread. What do I mean by "glitched"? Usually, you need to have a character's item equipped all the way through the game to unlock said characters, but on Alcatraz, it's not the case. The reason why Alcatraz is glitched is that the game will still think you carry the mission item even if you were killed. No one will be able to loot it from your corpse beside you but it's not necessary to pick it up again. As long as you don't drop the item yourself after fulfilling the requirements, you're good. This also applies to the Hot & Heavy playlist of Blackout (the big map). Now, let's look at the map. The red circles indicate areas where zombies spawn. It's chosen randomly so adjust your strategy accordingly. From left to right we have, New Industrial Building - a decent place to regroup once you have what you need, especially on the upper floor. or the tunnel that connects the building with the Machinery. Prison Block - not really recommended although you can hide in some of the cells, most players ignore them but it's still a place of death and tryhards going for easy kills. Assembly Square (tents) - a good place to hide as some of the tents have only one entrance and things to hide behind. Useful when you drop an item from zombies. Now let's talk about the blue stars. These are the locations for Primis Character's items. Three are in fixed locations, one has at least two spawns that I know of. The rest of the items have to be gotten from zombies and supply crates. From left to right we have: Old Industrial Building - Takeo's item (letter). It's in the basement and you need to interact with an old typewriter for it to spawn via square or triangle. The next one is in Machinery - Tank's item (jugg). This one has at least two confirmed spawns. Both of them are around the area, one is inside the machinery room in the corner, and the second one is in the back room next to the big chimney from the submarine's side. The third one is in the Prison Block - Nikolai's item (hat). It's behind bars on the first floor of the prison. You'd need to use a Monkey Bomb - throw it at the cell doors for them to open, but if you get your face into the doors, and spam triangle and square in between very fast, you can pick it up without the Monkey Bomb (drops from zombies or sometimes on the ground). The final item is located also in the prison, but in the laundry room area (from Mob of the Dead). You need to play as one of the Primis characters, bring one of the Primis character's mission items, and interact with the body on the wall for it to drop you Richtofen's item (Blood Vial). Most efficient way is to bring Nikolai's hat as it's the closest one. Now with these things covered, we will talk about all the characters you can unlock on Alcatraz. I've shown you the locations of the Primis items, so I won't repeat myself here. Nikolai - Pick the item and finish the game in Top 3. Takeo - Pick the item and finish the game in Top 3. Richtofen - Once you've obtained the Blood Vial from the wall, finish the game in Top 2. This one might take a couple of tries but it's not that bad. Tank - Pick the item and get a down with Frag Grenade. Sounds easy but the rng in this game is garbage. Sometimes frags are everywhere, sometimes you won't find one anywhere. Diego - Find the Pulp Magazine from killing zombies and get a down via headshot. Bruno - Find the Mug Shot item from killing zombies. Usually, it's best to kill them via melee to avoid attracting attention, if a zombie drops Bowie Knife pick it up as it's a good melee weapon. Simply get a melee down with Mug Shot in your inventory. Shaw - This one is tricky. You need to find the Alchemical Set from killing zombies which will also drop you Acid Bomb and Wraith Fire as well (although sometimes the game just said fuck you and dropped only the Set without grenades). You need to down two enemies using either of those so it's best to have your two buddies kill zombies with you and as soon as you have the Set with grenades, kill both of them with a single grenade. Only these two types of grenades will count, frags/molotovs/clusters won't count. Menendez - This one is also tricky but very doable. During the game supply drops will spawn and drop somewhere on the map. Your goal is to wait for them to spawn and as soon as you can run over to them and loot them. You need to find a Locket item but sadly it's random so you might not get it until the 3rd/4th drop. You only need to pick it up, you can die afterward as long as you don't drop it yourself. Now you need to down two enemies with a shotgun so two of your buddies should hide somewhere with a shotgun and some ammo for you. After getting a kill your character will yell "Josefina" which is a prompt your kill did count. You need to down two enemies this way and finish them, making sure you hear Josefina after each down/kill. We're not sure if you need to mop them up with a shotgun as well, I did it this way and the second kill didn't count (maybe I was too fast when killing dunno), but the next time it worked. One of us on the other hand used melee to mop up the second person and it worked for him. That's all for the Alcatraz characters, the other four need to be done on the Blackout map, either in Hot & Heavy or the regular modes (solo/duos/quads). Again, red circles show the areas where the zombies can spawn but the exact location in the game is RNG. You will see a pillar of light showing you where it is in the game, similar to Box location in zombies. The yellow star is the place with two spawns of Reznov's mission item, the third one is in the Asylum (Verruckt) but from our experience, it has the lowest chance of spawning there. The white star is the best location for Reznov's mission to do, getting a kill from 200 meters (xyz yards). The green star is the location of Woods' bandana and hind but it won't spawn there every time. The red star is the location of the green button you need to interact with in the Array location to trigger the numbers needed for Mason's mission. Scarlett - You need to kill zombies and find the Racing Goggles/Scarf (still not sure what's the English name of this item) and with said item down someone with a vehicle. The best way is to just go from the start to a place where you know a vehicle spawns, that can be anything from a quad to a chopper even, and just go to the location where zombies can spawn. Bring a car over there and hide it somewhere you can easily access in case you drop the item, then just run over your buddy. You can die as soon as you get a kill with a vehicle. It's best to go for this in solos/duos with friends as vehicles are easily destroyable and easy to dodge so doing this on randoms is not advisable. Reznov - Find his item at the Estates, can spawn on two monuments (red arrows below) and in the Asylum on the Blood Fountain but it's not advisable to go there. Once you have it, go with your friend/s to F1 square on the map (white star) and stand near the wooden fence, have your buddy go as far away as possible until you can barely see them, preferably all the way to the house if you have a sniper rifle, and kill them. Doable even with an SMG although you may need a full clip or two, then just stay hidden until Top 5. Best doable in Solos. Woods - His mission item and the chopper you need to use for it are located on the map as the green star. You need to pick the bandana, then fly the hind for about a minute as the pilot, and then proceed to win the game without ever getting killed (you can respawn in Hot & Heavy but this will negate the mission, you can get revived if downed by a teammate though). No real strategy to make this easier, the game is now crawling with tryhards and people actively seeking trophy hunters for an easy kill. You might try to go for it in Solos with a few friends who would protect you until the end, or try your luck and play in Quads with randoms hoping they will carry you till the end. This is the platinum breaker for most people as not only do you need to be skilled enough to win 1-1 or even 2-1 most of the time, but you need to think tactically to avoid unnecessary danger. Good luck anyone, you will need it. Mason - On the Hot Pursuit mode of Hot & Heavy playlist, you can find supercars with money bags on the rear. When driving them, you can spot supply crates from the distance similar to how you see the zombie locations as green pillars of light. Go around the map and try to find a Stained T-shirt inside the crate. Once you have it, don't drop it and even if you die, you can still unlock him. Go to the Array (red arrow) and use the green button inside the building on the second floor. The room has a circular design, one of the recognizable places from BO1's multiplayer. At the end of the room is the green button you need to interact with, then you will see "Numbers" from BO1 on your screen. Simply finish in Top 4 to unlock him. Going in solo might seem like a better option as you need to be only in Top 15, but getting his item on the regular map is way more difficult so I would advise against that. Good luck to everyone going for the plat, keep a number to a good shrink somewhere on your phone, you might need it by the time you're done (or not). sepheroithisgod
Good memories, earning these characters when the game was really active was a blast. Really wish they would put Treyarch in control of the Next Battle Royale for COD.

FreshFromThaDeli
Great guide. I agree with your assessment of this being the hardest completion in the franchise. Spent an agonising 2 weeks clearing up the Blackout mode trophies. Mason's Stained White Shirt is the most RNG thing I have ever done for a trophy and that's saying something.

I had once 3 shirts in one game!

KnuxSoul95
Although the IX variants of the Chaos crew don't count towards the trophy, I was able to get IX Diego in Alcatraz. I was defending another player when I killed an enemy with the bowie knife. I died shortly after my 2nd elimination with the same weapon, but after respawning and getting to the Top 5, I still unlocked IX Diego. So I won't forget about that glitch with the Alcatraz map. ? Something I have no patience for.
Seamndel
@HarasserPL for the Richtofen , do I need to get to the mummy WITHOUT dying? Also, does acquiring one key item negate you from getting another key item (meaning, is it possible to do 2+ characters in one match?

You need the item in your inventory to exchange it for the Vial, if it's glitched by dying it won't drop the Vial. No, you can do more than one. I did all 3 primis in a single game, next game I did Richtofen, Bruno and Diego.

Seamndel
@HarasserPL When you talk about "Buddies", do you mean that I can down my teamate/s, or do you mean that I should invite my friend to a solos match and then coordinate with them once I get the item? I already got Tak , Nick and Rich.

kidson2004
Damn good guide as I'm currently boosting Woods, Mason and Reznov. If I can add one thing to it (from my personal experience) that playing Heavy Metal Heroes Reznov's hat can spawn in both Estates and at the fountain in Asylum. Meaning 2 groups can knock him out at the same time. RNG still plays a role in all of this, but that happened to me in multiple sessions.

If I know these things me and other people don't need to err and repeat other's mistakes. Just tell me how i can coordinate with my friends, does it need to be as part of a friendly party, or we supposed to find each other on the map when we're enemies? Is there a sub-category of modes where you can play as Duos/Solos on Alcatraz? Cause "Blackout" on the game's main menu only has: 1)Solos 2)Duos , 3)Quads ( All in the base map I presume) and 4)Alcatraz Quads.
