Sonic 1,2, and CD delisting May 20

Sega has announced Sonic 1, 2, and CD will be delisted on PSN after May 20. So if you don’t have it and still want it, get it now.

They're making sure that people do not get confused and buy these old versions of the game instead of the new collection they're bringing out or at least that would be their excuse, either way it's a load of BS.

I have the games already, but I'm still not happy to see this trend of delisting older games in favor of a remastered collection à la the GTA Trilogy.

 

While we're here, consider this your warning that Sonic 2 does have an online-required trophy, Online Racer, that could possibly become unobtainable if SEGA decides to disable online services following the delisting. If Sonic 2 is sitting incomplete on your list, or you want to guarantee your 100% at some point, make sure you have that trophy on your account.

Yeah. Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles are being taken down on PC and XBox. Switch will keep Sonic 1 and 2 for now.

Yeah this is due to the new remasters coming up, they probably don't want people confused and buy the wrong titles, which sucks admitedly

 

I guess for those that don't have it's now or never, as they are solid titles with a decent trophy list.

This is stupid. But alas, there are options. This is no doubt because of the Sonic Origins collection coming out and that’s just Sonic 1-3, Knuckles, and CD. If anything try to find Sonic CD but the rest we have seen on other fairly recent compilations countless times. No need to dig out that Genesis/Mega Drive haha. I’m good with these three compilations and Sonic CD as standalone. Origins can f off.

 

Sonic Mega Collection Plus-PS2, XBox, GC, PC; $10-15 used.

Sonic 1-3, Knuckles, 10 more games, no Sonic CD.

 

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection-PS3, 360; $15-20 new.

Sonic 1-3, Knuckles, 45 more games, no Sonic CD.
 

Sega Genesis Classics/Sega Mega Drive Classics-PS4, PC, many other systems; $25-30 new for physical, $30 digital, digital on sale for less than $10 currently.

Sonic 1-2, about 50 other games. Sonic 3 & Knuckles available on PC version only. No Sonic CD on any versions.

To be honest the PS3 versions of 1 and 2 aren't very good ports, but CD is amazing and well worth getting on its own. I'd love to see Sega still keep an option of buying the games separately and 1/2 are replaced by the newer versions

Only thing I can think of is them pulling it for the Origins collection that's coming out in June. But yeah they should've kept the PS3 versions available.

Thank god I have these Sonic games on ROMs and Emulators. Own the actual physical games. Bought these years ago on my main account, so if I feel like revisiting them, I'll just redownload them.

 

Seeing the obvious monetization for this upcoming Sonic collection has me a little heated. Just give us the complete collection without charging more money for that crap. Don't deliberately break it down so we have to pay for this shit separately. These publishers have seriously lost it, but as they've gotten richer, they've only become more greedy.

Never really got in with SA2. Dunno why, I just didn't like the robot stages with tails with robotnik and that's like a third of all stages...

I will never understand the hype of Sonic CD. It wasn't that great at all. 

 

B2T Delisting still sucks and it's sadly the same routine as for the GTA series. The OG GTAs got delisted because of the Definitive Edition.

The DLC Missions in Sonic Adventure 1 were horrible, dude. Remember Mission 53 and 54 from Icecap? The snowboard level. Those two missions were the most difficult objectives in the entire game, and took me hours pounding my head at them to finally push my way through. 

 

What stung even more was when I found out they removed the rewards you received in the GameCube version for completing every Mission: Access to emulated Sonic Game Gear games. On the PS3 all you get is the Mission All Accomplished trophy. Of course, the trophy is what we're here for, but I definitely got a bit salty knowing we could have had more.
