Some PS+ Classics will be getting trophies

Perhaps trophy support is up to the developers and Sony is committed to all first party games coming to PS+ Premium to have trophy support? 

 

Maybe all PS+ classics are getting trophies and that' why the service is launching with so few classic games? Whatever the case is, we now know that at least some classic games will be getting trophies.

If the games are added on a rolling basis, I truly hope Sony mandates parity across the board. Having trophyless games put on to the highest tier of subscription seems like a pointless removal and it’s inclusion would only entice more people to play. Digital achievements have a real psychological effect on a player’s reward center of their brain. (Source: stuck on this site with all of you)

I wouldn't hold out. You might see it happen for a few games, but I would not expect it for all the PS Classic games.

Very welcome news. Hopefully this will be a thing for the entire library of classic games on the service, although that's probably just wishful thinking given how many there are supposed to be. Maybe they'll start off with a small selection of trophy supported games and add more later to incentivise people to stay subscribed. Who knows? At least we know that trophy support for these classics is a thing now, and that's a good enough reason for me to subscribe to the higher tier. How long I stay their entirely depends on the quality of the selection and the percentage of those that have trophies.

I just saw this on Twitter. This will definitively make the service more attractive. I hope Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill PS1 classics get trophy support even if they are getting remakes.

It's been required for games to have trophies since the feature was launched so I don't think it's going to change now. Now it's confirmed the PS1 games can have trophies I expect they all will. Adding trophies will probably be done alongside whatever testing and maintenance is required to publish the games in the first place 

 

Launching with so few games is probably so they can either dripfeed games over a long period of time, or so there's less competition between games right at the start. Nintendo Switch Online doesn't add trophies and that still doesn't have the largest of catalogues

This is always good news. But the stuff I actually want to play...are all my old WWF/WCW/ECW wrestling games I currently have on disc on PS1. It's definitely a dream of mine to be able to Plat the old Smackdown games.

I've never played Siphon Filter before but seeing that the first trophy "An Explosive Start" is a Silver, it seems to suggest PS1-2 games will be handled like indies, ie: bronze to gold with no platinum (perhaps some games are given many silver and golds to encourage players). This is of course my own speculation.
