So this apparently fell into my backlog, I'm not sure why, just forgot about it..

 

Just came back... Well tryin to find something to play. 

 

And holy crap was this game always this hard??  I think I'm playing on normal but I'm getting slaughtered

Depends on what difficulty you are playing on. But regardless, as you progress you’ll get new weapons and upgrades that will make the game significantly easier. 
 

it’s a great game. The harder difficulties are freaking brutal. Thankfully there’s no trophy requiring you to beat the game on Ultra Nightmare ?

Ya. I gotta check difficulty, idk how far I am, according to save file I'm 1.5hr in lol, no ammo and stuck in a shopping district pit lol can't parcore out.

 

It's fun and apparently I got the session pass so I gotta lotta do lol

The difficulty spike from normal for Doom (2016) to Doom Eternal is a larger jump. Basically Easy on Eternal is Normal on 2016 (for how it felt). I'd recommend playing fast and using what the game gives you for ammo and such (headshots on certain enemies, chainsaw when low, etc).
