If I listen to a new codec, save with courtney, then die/restart checkpoint, does that codec save?

Specifically, does it work like that in the boss fights? I'm going for the codecs on my hard/no damage boss playthrough and have to restart the checkpoints a lot during boss fights

I think you shouldn’t bother with codecs on a no damage playthrough. But AFAIK, you don’t need every codec, you can skip a few, so maybe you don’t have to worry about them during bossfights (mine popped before the mech fight at the last chapter). It’s much faster to go back to these codecs on easy. If I remember correctly, you always need to go to the next checkpoint to save them, although I’m not 100% sure.
