(Change.org petition) SONY must re-open online servers for 1st party games on PS3

There are so many nice & big SONY games on PS3 those need to re-open online servers because :

 

1 - SONY must respect to old & new customers equal

2 - Serious players want to complete their Trophy lists

3 - Usually old players are more loyal to company

4 - So many players want to experience online multiplayer mode on SONY games

 

Some games those need online back :

1 - The Last of Us

2 - Uncharted 2 & 3

3 - Killzone 2 & 3

5 - Resistance 1 & 2 & 3

6 - Little Big Planet 1 & 2 & 3

Gran Turismo 5 & 6

MotorStorm (all)

Demons Souls

Playstation Home

These games are old and light compare to 9th gen games, so SONY can create another servers for such old games

These kind of servers is not expensive now or maybe they could make it alive by PS5 new backward compatibility or according PS Now or PS Plus Premium servers

Sony respects money, PS3 doesn't make them money any more (at least not enough for them to even register it as money), therefore, Sony couldn't care less.

 

It doesn't matter what you think Sony should do. Not that I don't understand wanting these games playable again online, but realistically, it ain't ever gonna happen. Unless they get re-released/remastered on PS4/PS5 and they sell them to you again for full price of course, assuming they have the original online multiplayer modes included that is.

Games are a bit too old it's easier to move on to other games.  Plus you had x amount of years to complete the games.  good luck trying  

I wouldn't mind if they brought them back with the ps sub but I don't see that happening either.

There's no chance of them bringing back those servers.

 

One solution, while I don't think it will happen, is to have them edit the trophy lists and include single-player alternatives for games with multiplayer trophies. I think it would be particularly useful for titles in the PS+ Premium tier. That said, don't hold your breath.

You can't even buy PS3 games from their own store without going through hoops and using a how to guide. They also can't be bothered to port some of their most popular franchises like GoW to PS4/5, let alone remaster. Do you honestly believe they give a damn about dead and buried PS3 servers?

Move on and play something you can finish, because that petition is going to be about as useful and successful as someone selling chocolate teapots in death valley in the middle of Summer. Also, Sony is never going to re-open any of those servers or spend so much as a dime on the respective games, just so an increasingly insignificant minority can earn trophies in ancient games on a dead system that's nearly 20 years old at this point.

Yeah, this is not going to happen. SONY doesn't care about PS3 & Vita anymore. But SONY does care if you subscribe to new PS+ to stream PS3 games. SONY only cares about money:

PS3/Vita: No money to be made.

PS3 streaming: A lot of money to be made.

It's sad but true...

Look, part of life is dealing with loss. At one point in your life, you're going to lose someone or something and it's going to hurt. Your post makes it seem like you've never dealt with loss at all. If you want to replay the online modes of Resistance 1 and MotorStorm 1 so badly, search for PS Online Network Emulated, or PSONE.

 

Just don't use it with other trophy-enabled games.

 

That said, the petion won't work at all. Also i wish they released a final update for GT6 like they did with GT5, to fully disable all online capabilities, i.e. locking certain menus out.

Things like this would have to be a goodwill gesture by Sony, because financially there isn't anything in it for them. It's the same reason why we don't have true PS3 BC and instead must stream PS3 games on PS4 or PS5 instead of being able to download them. All of these things and more could be done with enough time, money and resources, but in the end it would be for practically nothing. Such a tiny portion of the player base cares about these things. I would love it if Sony supported these kind of initiatives but I know it isn't really reasonable. Sony is a business, and without sounding like a corporation apologist, not only do they need to make money but they also need to not waste money too.

Never going to happen. That would involve Sony spending money not saving it. Microsoft support older games a lot more than Sony.

With Jim Ryan at the helm, we're lucky they even changed their minds about shutting down the PS3/Vita stores...

 

Our best hope for preservation of game servers is with dedicated fans who host open source fan servers. Preservation of games is always done best by the community who don't care about profits

Your petition will do as much as bringing back Hitman Absolution servers online or any delisted stuff from PS Store, but don't fret about it, you can still buy PS6, PS7 and PS8 in the future each with brand new TLoU copy for 70$.
