OP:

- Creates funny petition

- Gets roasted for a week

- Refuses to elaborate further

- Leaves

Got quite a few upvotes though, and most of those upvoters didn't post in this topic, probably didn't read further than the first post.

Dear PS3 gamers

I started 2 petitions on Change.org to convince SONY to Re-Open some old nice PS3 game online servers

Please sign them if you are agree with me

Or maybe when full compatibility of PS3 games on PS5 become available, they could turn servers on according PS5 compatibilities (simulation on PS5 servers)

Serious question here yes Sony won't do this but would they do it if we the players did some kind of crowd funding thing to pay for it and Sony just turns them back on for as long as the money is there?

Money is only part of the equation. There is also resource access, resource existence, resource management knowledge, and resource maintenance. Assuming you don’t factor in ownership willingness and have no intention of measuring or having standards for resource utilization, which most of these games will certainly fail on pretty quickly.

Some people seem to forget that Sony wanted to shut down the PS3 store last year. What makes you think that stuff like this would even be noticed by them? PS3 is a legacy platform that turned 16 this year. It's over, you've had your time. Yes, I'd like to be able to play games online indefinitely. But that's just not how it works on consoles. Plus, petitions never did anything. Like, ever. It's a waste of energy.

I agree it's sad watching these 7th console gen. game servers getting taken away. I really do, but...

I mean...it's a nice thought, but as others have said, the PS3 is two generations old at this point. Expecting Sony and game developers to continue to support it is unrealistic. Especially when you consider that a lot of trophy hunters going back to these old games are just getting the achievements and then bailing. What would be nice is if trophies could be marked as unattainable directly through the trophy list, just for people's awareness before they start a game.

Not to even bring up why change.org petitions don't do shit, your first one didn't do so well, starting another one won't do anything more.

Your best bet is community driven revivals but for trophy hunting reasons, give up. It has never happened and never will happen.
