Popular Post JEDLander
Man I was just about tired of all these video games that just had a few collectibles on the side. Games like Arkham City? Weak. I cannot stand compelling stories, layered combat, exciting character progression and all that BS. Finally I've got this game in my life! If you count all the spirits, statues, artefacts, recordings etc. then there's somewhere around 1,500 individual pieces of mostly useless shit to pick up sure the story is complete nonsense, where anything interesting is just hand-waved with 'because ghosts', and you will care about precisely zero of the characters, but so what? Go and run after your 20th scripted Yokai encounter with exactly the same dialogue lines as every other time! You don't even need to think about the combat. Just spam R2 with whatever you happen to have in your hands and you're golden. Why not do some of the many... MANY side quests?! Like the one where you... help the spirit and fight some Visitors. Or that other one where you assist a spirit by engaging some Visitors. Or that big one where you support a spirt by challenging some Visitors to combat... but this time it's UNDERGROUND! Don't worry if you forgot what happened in the last quest, there are upwards of 40 more that are mostly the same. In their supreme wisdom, Tango also saw fit to tie some collectibles to random world events that may or may not spawn, and that the majority of players would actually think to avoid if they saw them, but who doesn't love fruitlessly running around an empty world map for your endgame entertainment? Now I was worried when the game started to show me where on the map certain collectibles were located, but luckily the Spectral Vision that you use to highlight these collectibles displays absolutely everything in the same blue outline, so you'll be able to spend hours wandering around trying to figure out which piece of blue you're looking for in any given area. Some of the spirit-collectibles require you to perform a 10-second hand gesture before you pick them up: for those of you cursed with immortality or who just plain enjoy having your time wasted. Oh and there's an RNG-based trophy that has a 1% chance to pop.

Nuzzgok
I agree with this, I normally have a pretty high tolerance for collectibles but here they are a real drag. It's the same thing over and over hundreds of times, I'm not sure why anyone would put these in a game
Guest
Completely agree. Steer clear of this game if you anywhere remotely don't like collectibles. What a pain in the ass.
XXIIlII
Worse than AC valhalla? So far valhalla is the worst thing I've ever played regarding collectible trophies. Edit: Valhalla still way worse Edited July 17, 2022 by XXIIlII
Z1MZUM
I think I'm willing to go back for collectibles, I honestly loved the atmosphere. I also love Tokyo and have never been able to walk around with empty streets. Except very late one night leaving the Uptown Bar in Ginza.
AiManiaTrophyhuntres
Laughed a lot. Still love the game tho. Atmosphere is fantastic, gameplay is fun and actually most of the Collectibles give enjoyable context if you like to read them, and backgroundinfo on the urban legends, also the streets of tokyo are great (enspecially with 3d audio) And it is still something else then always the same manhatten or at least american city in all those other games. Aferaos
You said everything. The feeling for the map is good, but everything else (especially the collectibles) needed a little more flair. I've already listened to dozens of podcasts while collecting the collectibles and I'm close to giving up.

I suggest you to finish the story first, you’ll get a trinket that makes it easier to collect the spirits. Prioritize upgrading levitation and unlocking the ability that lets you call that flying creature anytime you want. Also, there’s a link to an interactive collectibles map somewhere in another thread.

Finding spirits was okay, thanks to that spirit bracelet and its blue streak always pointing to the closest one. Would've been nice to see a similar power to locate all them relics, Jizo statues, and tanukis (which were in areas where you couldn't pray for their exact location). Overall, though, a cracking sandbox that - even as-is - did a jolly good job in enticing players into that "gotta catch 'em all" mood. With minor touches here and there, would love to see more! PotrikBerger
Lol, what a great post. finished the game a long while ago, but was advising a friend this week as to whether to start playing or not. I couldn’t remember much of the game other than remembering I absolutely hated the collectibles in this. I wasn’t sure if I was being fair to the game or not as it has been a number of plats ago now that I played, so came here to check out what was being said and this post made me feel vindicated lol ...the blue lines bit got me the most. That’s what I remembered. Wasting time (so much time) looking for blue things on the screen. The sheer volume is just so grossly misjudged by the developers. someone else mentioned ac Valhalla. Yeah, that is probably longer and more painful, but just something about Ghostwire set up makes the task seem that much more dull and slow somehow
