Are you beyond trophy proficiency in any games?

Since the trophy system was introduced over a decade ago the general perception within the community is trophies dictate proficiency within a game or genre. The question is what games would you consider yourself to be far beyond the trophy requirements? There are a lot of gamers/trophy hunters who are very talented at certain games and genres, there's a world of difference between trophy proficiency and being actually good. I'll give a few examples of what I'm referring to;

Example: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 Remake is a very skill dependent game with a limitless skill ceiling. I suspect the vast majority of players would earn the trophy "You Broke the Scoreboard" which requires you to earn 10,000,000 points on a classic/custom park by exploiting a custom map, I don't blame them if they did but there are people who can break over 100,000,000 or more and make it look effortlessly.

Example 2: Rocket League has probably the highest skill-ceiling I've seen in a sports game outside of Tony Hawk. I played and completed all the Rocket League trophies and I can barely play the game. My aerial ability is questionable at best but the skill of some people is absurd they would literally make a mockery of any trophy in the game.

The only game that comes to mind for myself that has trophies would be Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. I'm nowhere near god level not even close some of my times are pretty solid but there are people who make me look slow by comparison. Looking forward to seeing what games people would smash 99% of players on without breaking a sweat :P

If I got the idea of the topic right... I would say any game of the following :Dark souls/Bloodborne /Sekiro/ Elden Ring. i can safely say that I did stuff in these games that far outdid the basic plat requirements in these games.

There are so many challenges possible with these games, that the base requirements of "collect every special weapon and ring and spells" are almost a disappointment ?

XCOM 2 is probably the one game on psn I'd confidently say I've mastered beyond the trophies.

Trophy wise the hardest one involves finishing the game with ironman on the second highest difficulty, I'm able to routinely do it on the highest difficulty and usually with 0-2 deaths at most (Gate Crasher's reliance on gun rng will sometimes get me).

Mostly comes down to spending thousands of hours learning exactly how each alien AI makes decisions and why/when they use one attack over the others in situations.

Only games that I played beyond trophy hunting are GTA V and PUBG. I know it'll sounds very superficial af, but most games after earning a platinum, lost its sense/will to play.
For a while, I'm not finishing games (singleplayer) more than once, unless it is interactive movie.

Pretty much 99.9% of games I'll go beyond the trophy requirements.  I'll even 100% the Ratalaika games.  The only things I don't 100% are online related crap (e.g Sniper Elites Medals, though I 100% the offline ones) and games I really can't stand (That Ratalaika one with the tanks).  I'm currently clearing up SAO Re:HF, getting all the costumes whilst doing ALL the implements.

I've been playing GTA online for a very long time. I exceeded the requirements for some trophies extremely.

Instead of 70 gold awards in missions - All(116).

Instead of 150 hours for platinum - 7800 hours only in multiplayer.

Instead of Rank 100 (1.58mil RP) - Rank 2222 (174.8mil RP).

Instead of participating in the shooting range once - over 7000 rounds.

Instead win 5 races - completed over 30000 races and set 245 world records.

ect...:blah:

I’m barely at trophy proficiency for most games ?

Probably the closest would be Hitman, since I’ve played so many variations on the maps, done a lot more of the challenges than the trophies require, went for all the suits and Masteries etc, plus played a lot of the user-generated contracts.

Used to play a lot of Hitman Roulette with my buddy too.

…haven’t played in a while though, so probably those extra skills have rusted a little of late… games are a fickle mistress after all!

Resident Evil 2: I earned rank S+ for all scenarios in hardcore and normal, although platinum just need rank S for 2 of the scenario.

Resident Evil 4: Earned 5 stars for all characters in all maps and unlocked Hand-cannon, which is not part of trophy requirements too.

The only game I played is Dead by daylight I been playing since it released 6 years ago. Basically there is always new DLC every 3 months. Some of the trophies are related to the perks you obtained from the survivor or killer. Yes the game is celebrating there anniversary yesterday. For some reason people still don't understand what perks and teachables are which makes it easier for killer but horribly terrible for survivor.

I try to be decent but probably not. I wouldn't say I'm highly proficient but nor would I say the opposite either. I'm fairly good, but certainly not talented in any way. And those young kids these days are frankly insane, multiplayer skill standards are only going up no matter how much we like to dunk on 'Fortnite kids' and how 'GaMeS aRe EaSiEr ToDaY'. Some of the crazy in game challenges and speedruns you see today are mindboggling too. People are nuts! I'm past my prime and even my prime doesn't compare xD

I've been of the viewpoint in more recent years that the trophy system is actually incredibly restrictive in terms of showcasing any in-game proficiency and that even the so-called 'hardest' platinums aren't all that much to obtain in full context of the games themselves and many many players far exceed the requirements (including those without all the trophies that may have just opted not to do certain side content or collectable). It's why I don't really ever get 'impressed' by any trophy in of itself. Congrats if you're proud of your accomplishment and I'll cheer people on for doing so but I'm just so used to seeing better today that as a 'flex' I just think 'meh, that's okay I guess'.

Games that stick out to me that I could say I'm more proficient than the trophies are usually multiplayer titles I've put at least a decent amount of time into (all are pretty easy to get all the trophies for so... even a vaguely competent player could say the same) - Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends. I imagine a couple multiplayer games is probably the case for most where they'd claim to be more proficient than the trophies as it's quite rare for online trophies to be inherently difficult (usually reaching max level or some misc. challenges like 'kill 2 guys with a grenade'). Only exception I guess might be those who jump in, boost, and leave so therefore might not have the capacity to genuinely compete in the actual online multiplayer environment.

Outside of those specific examples some general ones that I'd be able to claim I'm 'above' the trophy requirements would be any game without trophies for the hardest difficulty. In general I always do the highest difficulty and bafflingly a lot of games leave out that for trophy completion requirements even though I'd definitely say that's part of general game completion and I think it'd make sense if trophies at minimum reflected completing the game.

Another would be fighting games, not just for me but for SOOOOOO many people, including those who DON'T have anywhere near all the trophies. Fighting games often have weird grinds among all modes and characters which isn't how people tend to play fighting games. I'm certainly no pro (far from it) but I'm confident I could 100% pretty much any fighting games trophy list if I could be bothered, can't think of any exceptions off the top of my head. The difference in skill between your average fighting game platinum achiever and your typical fan of the genre who doesn't have the platinum is like night and day. Many trophy hunters would be very quickly humbled if they didn't have to option to boost to earn those online trophies for fighting games for example and had to face off against the wider fighting game community.

This is another reason why I rarely play online games.

Too many ‘sweatlords’ ruining online games. eSports is another thing I want no part of.

I think for me mostly that be GTA V , I platted it  like 3x times.

Did the "criminal mastermind" challenge, found better tactics than most guides telling me.

I was thinking about doing videos for it bit at that point YouTube, was already filled with guides

Whilst I'm not one to complain about people being good online or anything I must admit that it's a slight gripe that people care more about 'being good' than having fun these days. Now of course the goal is to win and winning is fun but you see these people hyper focused, constantly moaning when things don't go their way and maybe even raging. They never look like they're really enjoying themselves and seem like they feel pressured to play at a certain level otherwise they're 'uncool'.

There's a difference I feel to trying your best in a game you enjoy and desperately sweating it out constantly because you 'have' to be 'good at games'. People are desperate to prove themselves as a #HardcoreGamer. I think if you're not good enough to make it into eSports for example then chill out a bit, no need to grind it like a job to 'git gud' because there's no payoff waiting at the end.

Luckily I'm not too old and past it yet so I can hold my own in most online lobbies still without trying too hard. You don't have to come #1 or win every game to be considered doing well in my eyes so I just take whatever I get knowing full well I'm only really in the slightly above average section of the games community xD.

A good tip, stay away from fighting game communities. Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat. All filled with griefers and ‘sweatlords’, to put this bluntly.

I used to love MMORPGs. Unfortunately they too have been ruined to me. Efficiency experts, griefers, rage quitters, etc etc. Wasn’t the point of MMOs is the community aspect?

That sense of community is gone.

Not trying to brag, but I am literally Saints Row Jesus. "Blasphemous!", you might say, but I am freakin' amazing at pretty much everything to do in Saints Row.

That and any Call of Duty with zombies pre-Black Ops 4, not counting Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer's mediocre knockoffs.

With most games I'm barely at platinum trophy proficiency ?

Only series I'd say I'm comfortably beyond trophy proficiency are FIFA/PES as I've been playing them for several years. Ranged from Gold 1 to Elite 2 level in the Weekend League FIFA across 17-21. Don't have the patience to deal with the insane sweat anymore, so stop at lesser ranks to have more fun. The standard is so high now in FIFA in comparison to 5 - 10 years ago. It may as well become 'FIFA Street' at this point with how the meta is about using skills and utilising certain mechanics/tactics and has been for some time now.

Probably Dark Souls 3. After the platinum I played through it a couple of more times normally, then started the challenge runs. Started off with deathless, then a few speedruns, graduated to fist only attacks (using a shield to block damage) then finally finished it off with a true fist only run (no shield, no parrying, no critical attacks, only punching damage). I'm not saying I did it easily or anything, but I did it.

Other than that, I've earned all the milestones in No Man's Sky a minimum of three times over in permadeath mode, just as a natural consequence of helping other players reach the centre of the galaxy. And one very specific mission in GTA Online, the Diamond Casino Heist (The Big Con approach). Me and my friends use the heist reset glitch and we've run it over 200 times, we can't find a reliable source for what the world record time is while taking the full amount of money, otherwise we'd record our attempts and submit it.

Let's see, off the top of my head...

Soulsborne - I've completed a variety of challenge runs and casual speedruns. Honestly sunk an embarrassing number of hours into these games.

Hitman - Earned the Silent Assassin rating on basically every possible mission in the series, along with doing a number of speedruns.

Uncharted - Spent over 3000 hours in the multiplayer modes over the course of the series, and had a very good K/D at one point.

The Binding of Isaac - Did so many runs that the game just didn't feel challenging anymore.

Blasphemous - Finished all the optional DLC content and Penitence challenges; did casual speedruns.

Amnesia - Excluding the new game, I once knew this series like the back of my hand. I'm the fastest achiever for the collection on my alternate account (8 hours, 47 minutes).

There's probably more which slipped my mind.

FFX-2: I had tons of playthroughs on the PS2 version and did way more than the trophy requirements in this game. I completed the monster capture by recruiting all monsters and humans as well, won all arena tournaments and got myself 6 iron dukes (2 for each character), and beat the sphere break elites as I had dug up tons of rare coins with the chocobo and kicked their butts. No trophies for any of this, but I love that game so I wanted to do everything possible.

Persona 5 Royal: The platinum was very easy, but I did most of what was required in the vanilla version for the plat like maxing all the co-ops, but I didn't so a second playthrough for the extra bosses that unlock due to how long this game is.
