Gaming for the Animals [EVENT HAS CONCLUDED]

Do you like animals? Of course you do! Would you like to help make a difference? Of course you would! Since you (probably) like both of these things, I have an event for you!

 

Recently I've been wanting to symbolically adopt an animal, and I've been at a loss as to which one to give my money. Then I had an idea: what if PSNP adopts an animal collectively? This is where you come in. How? Easy, just plat some games that feature animals!

 

This is how the event will go: every completed game counts for one vote towards the animal we will (symbolically) adopt. You do not have to donate anything to participate in this event, I will be the one paying for the adoption kit at the end of the allotted time.

 

Start Date: July 4th (your own timezone)

End Date: September 16th, midnight (also your own timezone)

Animal choices here! (Deadline to vote for a new animal is August 8th)

1. What do you have to do? Plat a game that has an animal in it! Obvious choices include mascot games like Spyro the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet and Clank, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, etc, but I'm not gonna be too picky. You wanna play Digimon, Nexomon, something like that? I'll count it. Is there an animal sidekick thing like in the Tales games? Yup, it counts! As long as the animal itself is a prominent feature in the game AND you do not kill them, it's fine!
2. Every game you play does NOT have to feature the animal that you want to vote for! Do you want to vote towards a dolphin but played a certain PS mascot series that features a certain raccoon? Go ahead, vote for Ecco!
3. EZPZ games will not count. What does this mean? If the player uses Autopop, OR if the fastest (not obviously Autopopped or cheated) time on the Fastest Leaderboard section is under 30 minutes, OR the 50th place on the 'Fastest Leaderboard' is under one and a half hours, it will not be counted.
4. When you complete a game be sure to let me know what animal you are voting for! Here are the options in case you're on the fence!
5. Plats that were achieved before July 4th will not count. It's cool if you want to continue a game you already started, but for it to count the plat must be popped between July 4th and August 8th.
6. You can play a game that does not have a plat, but in that case you will need to 100% the game, including DLC. If the game has a plat, however, you just need a plat. DLC alone will not count for this event
7. Do you want to vote for more than one animal? Well... Sure! You're welcome to vote for multiple animals, but to get those votes you'll need more than one plat. Remember: each plat = one vote.
8. Please wait a week after a game is released before claiming it! This gives me an idea of how fast a particular platinum is
9. You are limited to ten votes, so use them wisely!

 

May I use the game if...

 

• The animal is the main character? Of course!
• The animal is a companion to the main character? Yes!
• The animal is fictional/extinct? Yes!
• The player can summon the animal? Yes!
• What about characters like Spiderman? Yes!
• Humans that have animal traits in general? Humanoid animals? Sure!
• The animal is ONLY an enemy or obstacle? No, unless they become friendly afterwards AND are prominent throughout the game.
• The animal is set dressing? No.
• The game is about hunting animals like those Cabela games? Sorry, but absolutely not

 

My two big things with this is that the animals must have some sort of significance (not something like "oh I had to sneak past a dog in level x") and you don't kill them. Again, I can be convinced in special cases, but if you use those two points as guidelines it should be fine.

Because of my Rayman Legends routine, I should be getting that platinum in the time frame, I was wondering if Globox counted as an animal, but then I remembered all the fish. so that fear was put aside.

 

I should also be able to get Ape Escape PS4 pretty quick, and possibly Cat Quest II... Yeah, Okay Sounds like fun.

He licks Connor at one point, so I think that's significant enough of a role in the game to count

Hey there! Super early post, I know, but I assume everyone has been excited to start looking into their animals of choice, so I figured it'd be a good idea to highlight some of the animals that may not immediately grab your attention. Today we are going to talk about the vaquita!

 

 

This is the picture from the WWF site. It's hard to see what the animal looks like, isn't it? Well, that's because the vaquita are known to be incredibly shy animals. From this picture it looks like a dolphin species, but funny enough it's actually a member of the porpoise family, which is fairly close to the dolphin. The main differences can be found in the fins, faces, and body shapes! You can read more about that here, if you're curious.

 

The vaquita can only be found in the Gulf of California and are considered a Mexican national treasure, but the chances of seeing one are rather low due to the fact that only ten of them exist. Not ten hundred, not ten thousand, ten. Illegal fishing has brought their numbers to such an incredibly low number, since totoaba swim bladders are thought to have been a cure to a variety of illnesses in Chinese medicine. "What is a totaba," you're probably asking. It's a species of fish, and the nets utilized to catch them are large enough to catch the vaquita.

 

More information can be found out at the WWF and NOAA. Even their pictures don't show a lot of the animal itself, funny enough... But I know you're curious so a quick Google search might show you a bit more. (Be careful if you do that, many of the pics that show up are of the animal already dead.) Or you can just look at the image here.

Count me in. I’ve got plenty of (non-EZPZ) games I can start/finish from my backlog throughout July into early August from my backlog with, of course, animals in them.

 

May I ask OP, in the rules you speak against playing and stacking easy plats but haven’t said anything against stacking as a whole, so is it ok to stack any games so long as they’re not auto-popped and take longer than 90 minutes to finish like you’ve said above or does stacking trophies (in any manner, platform or regional) not count at all? Just confirming because I’m interested in completing Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl (So long as there are playable characters are based on animals that exist and not fantasy eg. unicorns, this game counts right?) being apart of this event, which has 3 trophy stacks (1x PS4, 2x PS5) and I’d like to know if I can get multiple entries out of this game from stacking so long as I choose not to auto-pop any of the trophies… Or if entries are 1 per unique game I complete. Hope I worded that all right, if not then I apologise.

Quick question, does it matter what percentage one of our games is at prior to July 4? I'm currently playing F.I.S.T and don't want to overdo it before the event kicks off

For clarification, I'm assuming you can't just wait 90 minutes to pop the final trophy of an EZPZ game? The fastest time recorded on the site has to be over 90 mins? Not planning on playing any short games, but thought I'd ask just in case.

 

Also, just realized that I could also maybe squeeze in Spiderman Miles Morales too for the event...

You're good as long as the plat hasn't been popped before July 4th
