Yes, this is a good news indeed, but on the other hand I'm a bit concerned that the key people responsible for making previous two games have left the studio. Anyway, we'll have to wait and see what future will bring us. Edited January 30 by ziggypossum 2024 - game canceled

Popular Post Abby_TheLastofUs
The CBR headline is misleading. Edios Montreal wants to go back to the Deus Ex franchise and they hope Embracer will greenlight a Deus Ex project, but nothing is in the works yet. Another Deus Ex entry from Edios Montreal wasn't a possibility under Square Enix, presumably because Square wasn't satisfied by the sales of the Deus Ex games. Under Embracer there's a possibility they could resurrect the series once more, because they haven't explicitly told Edios Montreal that they won't be making another Deus Ex game but that's all it is for now, Edios hoping things will be different under a new owner. I'm not sure Embracer would greenlight a new Deus Ex on the level of Human Revolution/Mankind Divided. They aren't known for giving games AAA budgets and I can't see them doing it for a series that isn't guaranteed to do big numbers early on. I think remasters of the Deus Ex games, including the first Deus Ex, are more likely to come out of the Embracer acquisition than a new game. Evil_Joker88
Well DE Mankind Divided wasn't a technical failure as Cyberpunk 2077 but MD wasn't a good game either in comparison to DE Human Revolution. But i hope they're going to continue the story of MD as it stops abruptly and with too many open questions...

Tbh I think that would be the smartest move right now, and what Embracer are known for doing- putting out remasters, slowly building up brand awareness and public interest, and eventually releasing a realistically-budgeted (but still well received) sequel. It's a pretty decent strategy that's served them well in the past.

kenseizenkai
Imho, they should just remake/remaster the 1st Deus Ex game from 2000. That game was more or less perfect.

Viscera1900
Both Deus Ex: Human Revolution and DX: Mankind Divided were some of my favorite games of all time, so I'd love see what happens after Mankind Divided story wise. And I wish they would port those games to PS5 and take advantage of its faster load times and fps.
JPtheNeurotic
please. Even though I haven't finished Deus EX 1 or Mankind Divided we need more DE games! Especially one that finishes Adamns story. Viper
Absolutely loved Human Revolution and Mankind Divided (HR a little bit more). So another sequel is something I eagerly await. Human Revolution is a proud success story for me. I played it back when we got it for PS+ years ago, and I had restarted the game 4 times because of that Foxiest of the Hounds trophy...once I finished the game, sure I didn't raise any alarms...the trophy didn't pop...I was heartbroken (I enjoyed my time with it, but couldn't stomach doing it all over again only to likely fail again). Considered the game a wash as something I'd never Plat and just never went back to it. Until Mankind Divided came out and I managed to Plat that without much issue...I immediately went back to HR since the muscle memory was there to try it again and ended up getting the Plat. Needless to say, I really want another game.

Popular Post ziggypossum
Embracer cancels Deus Ex game in development for 2 years Eidos Montreal confirms 97 jobs lost A statement from Eidos Montreal has confirmed 97 jobs have been lost at the studio, following the previously-reported news that its Deus Ex project has been cancelled. The studio employed 481 people, as of 2022. "For the last 17 years, our teams at Eidos have worked on some of the most beloved brands in the industry, combining deep storytelling and innovation into unique games," the studio wrote in a statement posted on social media. "We have created memorable multi awarded experiences that we are proud of and we know our teams members have put their heart and soul in all of them. "The global economic context, the challenges of our industry and the comprehensive restructuring announced by Embracer have finally impacted our studio. The difficult decision has been made to let go 97 people from development teams, administration, and support services. "We are working to support all impacted personnel through this transition. These very talented, highly experienced people are entering the employment market, and we want them to find their next projects and are helping to do so. "As we navigate these difficult times, the well-being of our team is our priority and the continuous commitment to creating games that players will be able to enjoy." Embracer Group Cancels ‘Deus Ex’ Video Game https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-01-29/embracer-group-cancels-deus-ex-video-game By Jason Schreier The Swedish gaming company Embracer Group AB is canceling a video game in the beloved Deus Ex series after two years of development and will lay off a number of employees as part of an ongoing initiative to cut costs, according to people familiar with the moves. Eidos, the Montreal, Canada-based studio behind the game, will instead focus on an original franchise. The canceled Deus Ex project, which had not yet been announced, was slated to enter production later this year, said the people, speaking anonymously because they are not authorized to talk to the press. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, Eidos Montreal said on Monday that it has let go of 97 people due to “the global economic context, the challenges of our industry and the comprehensive restructuring announced by Embracer.” Following a period of massive expansion during the pandemic, Embracer Group has lately been making widespread layoffs, game cancellations and studio closures. The sci-fi Deus Ex series has been critically acclaimed and sold more than 14 million units worldwide. It was acquired by Embracer in 2022. Fuck you, Embracer. I never asked for this.
Popular Post ValhoZero
This one hurts. The implosion of Embracer will go down in gaming history as one of the biggest fuck ups to happen to this industry. And the CEO will probably not even get a slap on the wrist.....
