Now, would I avoid other games that are my thing if the trophies were too difficult? Hmmm. Tough one. I've taken on some pretty tough plats before. But plats that are considered like 10/10 in difficulty? Nah, I'll admit to ya amigo I'd avoid them because:

1) I don't want to ruin my completion percentage that I busted my ass for years to build upon (literally took me YEARS to complete the insane amount of incomplete games on my list - I'm very proud of my completion percentage) because I knooooow...

2) That I just don't have the skill nor temperament so I know I wouldn't be able to platinum it (self-defeating statement, I know).

3) As I previously stated (and I KNOW this is retarded) but games without trophies or playing a game and not caring about the trophies... just isn't interesting to me.

What I enjoy is putting in the work, unlocking trophies and building upon my stats. I know a lot of people can't wrap their heads around this, that they just don't understand why. I know trophy hunting, the stats, etc., is, in the grand scheme of it all, pointless and just doesn't matter. I know this. But I still enjoy doing it.

Or just play them for fun on your alt account? I honestly don't see the problem here.

What does number 3 say in my post? Read it again, please. Not trying to be a dick but this was kinda answered.

So if the sequel to or remake of your favorite game of all time came out and was a 10/10 you wouldn’t play it? Seems strange to me. But everyone in this thread seems convinced all games with trophies will become like this one so…guess you’re safe. Lol

Well... shit. Since you put it like that, I'd have to say screw it and take that platinum on! ?

Until a trophy system comes out that accounts for difficulty, rarity, time involved, etc….the leader board will always be led by the best ratio of the amount of trophies per time spent gaming.

how u gonna know the rarity of a trophy before a game released so u can assign the proper trophy color/grade to it???

Money isn’t everything man. To a multi billion dollar corporation like Sony, sure. Make bank at the cost of integrity and rationality.

Every business has its cons and hacks. Unfortunately, Sony has completely bought into the Steam game model by literally throwing out quality control in place of anything that can make a buck for a very niche audience such as trophy hunters.

Moving to California was a mistake.

They allow this but censor games...

He believes that PlayStation, the video game branch of Sony, has gotten worse since they moved their headquarters in California.

But why is the act of "moving to california" a mistake in his words? I'm curious as to why the location matters. It seems like they could have made these same decisions with their headquarters in other places so I'd like to hear why california, specifically, caused them to get worse. Is there something I'm unaware of that causes businesses to be worse once they move to california?

Could california be the cause of easier trophies somehow?

Can't believe there are people defending this crap with "if they want to make it, let them" bullshit. Y'all are delusional if you think this is acceptable...

What pandemic? What recession? This is the real goddamn problem...and looking at how things are going I'm confident to say we're f*cked if Sony doesn't step up with their QC.

I'm no expert in this, but I believe that depending on your political leanings, at least as far as US politics is concerned, California can usually be seen as either heaven or hell. So when someone mentions Sony and California in the same sentence it's usually something to do with that person's own political beliefs, rather than the simple fact that Sony HQ moved to California in a bid to restructure their global business operations. It's actually not all that uncommon for large corporations and other businesses to do so, but people will usually ignore that fact in order to push their own political and ideological agendas. The ideas that Sony have become "woke" and that they "don't care about Japan anymore" usually stems from this too.

Bruh turning shovelware game discussion political.

Plot Twist,

One of the bronze trophies is deliberately glitched and the Platinum is unobtainable.

Now I write that down I think there's 10% odds that I'm correct, and this game will be a satire.

No: all BUT ONE trophy are deliberately glitched. And the working trophy is obtained for booting the app.

Next game it will have: "Press UP for trophies". :D

This reminds me of the old OPM disc with the Dino Crisis demo where pressing Square would quit to the main menu.

You can't. The points per trophy would need to be continuously adjusted via a multiplier based on rarity as more people play and get or don't get the trophy.

So then why suggest an impractical/impossible option? To the best of my recollection trophy grades have never been changed after release

I'm perplexed by the myriad of posts thinking this is somehow Sony's responsibility to fix. People don't want to play shitty games don't have to. The store itself is pretty easy to navigate to see quality new content. That this site is a mess of stacking spam trophy lists has nothing to do with Sony as a store.

Like, pop and chips are shitty junk food. No one boycotts Walmart because they sell bucket loads of pop and chips. No one complains they can't find the kale because 3 aisles of the grocery store are pop, chips and cookies.

Ultimately this isn't a QC issue. The games work as designed. The people buying them aren't complaining. There is no QC case to be made here, anymore than arguing that grocery stores shouldn't sell junk food. If the consumer wants to buy a shitty product, knows they are buying it, and hasn't been misled, at the end of the day it is 100% the consumer problem. The fact that other people don't want consumers to buy pop and chips is irrelevant.

I would much rather Sony deal with censorship, and do something about games releasing that are actually broken, don't work, have game breaking bugs and trophies that don't work and won't ever be fixed. That is a much bigger QC problem.

Agree completely.  The devs (and Sony) are just fulfilling a demand.  If there was no demand, there wouldn’t be the shovelware.  Removing this stuff and then you might as well remove costume DLC, micro-transactions, etc.  Yes, some have impulse issues but you can’t ruin it for everyone who can control themselves and avoid (or buy sporadically).  And if they weren’t spending their money here, then they would be somewhere else, maybe even more destructive.

In fact, as far as emotional health, I am not sure playing shovelware plats is any worse than a lot of trophy hunting (spending/wasting an insane amount of hours of doing some inane trophy requirement).  It’s all kind of silly.

Meeting in the middle of a map to trade kills to more quickly “earn” a multiplayer trophy?  Now, that is skill.  Watching YouTube exploits or to cheese your way through a level?  More skill.  Playing a really difficult level 200x to finally pass it and hating every minute of it for a digital trophy?  Ok, some skill but mostly perseverance and OCD.  Not exactly healthy either.

Moderation is a key in life.

PS: I love it when people call soda “pop”.  I knew it was a Midwestern thing, guess it also extends into Canada.

Here's the thing, how is Sony at fault? its a game. It has trophies. There's nowhere that states the games need to be perfect to be allowed on the store. Sony also most likely gets a cut of sales. Quality control isn't needed. Its not outright nudity or gore porn or promoting terrorism. So why shouldn't the games be allowed?

also even if people did not buy them, they'll still exist. I don't care if Sony rectified anything. I'm going to play what I want and ignore these games. If others play them and stack them thats great!

Its amazing how some people here bitch endlessly about these. It gives trophy hunting a bad name blah blah... how? it promotes and supports Trophy Hunting.

i hope it legitimately happens

Because Sony said games like this wouldn’t get platinum trophies then changed the rules allowing for this problem. There, one reason Sony is at fault. Also, as I said before, Xbox don’t have achievements in some bottom rate crapware so perhaps Sony should do the same.

I even mentioned how PlayStation minis was the perfect solution but again, you’ve ignored that. You can’t say my criticism hasn’t been constructive at least.
