Saints Row is such a departure from the past games. I didn’t think Saints Row IV or Gat out of Hell were great, just passable enough for a playthrough. 
 

The developers attitude towards the fan base was what turned me off. That one guy said the jokes and pun are no longer fit for a modern audience, therefore they have to “adapt”. Instead they had to change things around and water down the humor to not upset certain focus groups. 
 

That’s not to mention all the bugs and glitches and technical problems this game had on release. Several livestreams showed the game running poorly, so like most bigger budget games, Saints Row was released unfinished. 
 

I normally disregard websites like Metacritic and so on, but the low ratings practically speak for the level of disappointment many people have with this one.

Also Disney is an extremely conservative corporation and has been extremely slow with any kind of queer representation, not to mention their arguably racist tendency of turning POC leads into animals in their films or the abomination that was Pocahontas. Strange World bombed and was barely advertised by Disney so you mentioning it does little to support your point that Disney views representation as an instant moneymaker.

I personally quite enjoyed the game. It's basically Saints Row the Third 2. Considering I platinumed Saints Row the Third on three different generations of consoles, it's the kind of game I personally feel holds up well to the test of time.

I got the plat for this game last month and to be honest I did not hate it either. This was the only Saints Row that I finished 100%. The only other SR I played was 4 back on the PS3 and that one got boring really quick for me. Different strokes I guess.

There's no point in "hating" this when the prequels weren't exactly the Godfather of videogames; they were fun sandbox games with jokes that probably aren't funny anymore today, but with good gameplay and things that were simply better than GTA. I loved the superhero themes of the last SR and for me, they were really well executed and gave the series more personality compared to other open worlds. The one were you played in hell (don't remember if it was a dlc?), wasn't that good and just vanished in thin air.

I'll probably play this someday, but with the amount of products available today is hard to choose something that looks a bit recycled compared to other great games.

I bought this game day one. Had "zero" problems with it on the PS5. I liked it so much, a few months later I played it again on PS4, again with no problems at all.

It is the best game I have ever played? No. But does it deserve all the hate...? Also, No.

There is a lot of fun to be had here.

this game had me hyped but the hype died quickly. 

 

gameplay is wonky, the humor is mostly garbage, and it still has quite a few bugs, i finally completed it and now i have to play almost the whole game again to get my Chaos Tamer trophy due to bad level design -.-

 

I've been teleported through buildings a couple of times and i want to mention that gunplay // Action in this game is repetitive AF and gets you bored hella quick if you're used to quality action games. 

 

But that's not to say this game does not have a few good things about it, i like the graphics quite a lot! and the story is decent

Very unlucky i played it on release and didn’t experience a single glitch/bug. The game was by far not as good as the the older saints rows tho 😪
