In all seriousness though, this has been coming for a while now and rumours stating circling a couple of months ago that Google had decided to cut their considerable losses and shutdown the entire Stadia network by the end of the year. The Stadia will go down in history as one of the biggest and most expensive gaming cockups of all time!

This is why I buy physical. Have fun playing your digital only games when the platform servers get shut down. I get the convenience, but the ability to play indefinitely and to be able to resell my games make physical games so much more valuable to me. 

 

Edit: I see they are refunding hardware and software purchases. Real classy move that they have no obligation to do.

As someone who actually liked Stadia, this is a shame. But considering Ubisoft stopped developing for it, and other streaming services offering better content, this was bound to happen. Glad I didn't sink much $ into it.

 

It is kind of weird that they just overhauled the UI this week. Looks like it was as much of a surprise to them.
