Vertical Explosion - cant even beat Very Easy!

I'm sure i  just suck, but I can't even clear very easy. I was never good at Rubiks Cubes, so this doesn't make it any easier. Any tips/hints?

There's a guide on playstationtrophies.org with some helpful tips, there's also some videos online. Once you figure out the trick, it gets super easy.
