GUDGER666
No series specifically but games that are big open world and ask you to do stuff that has you exploring everywhere. Too many games nowadays have you partially finish stuff and the Plat pop. Edited October 28, 2022 by GUDGER666
Popular Post Beyondthegrave07
I have a quite a few series that impress me: Tales of - a lot of these games require multiple playthroughs, collectathons, and a bunch of side mission stuff. Mad respect for those completing those series. Yakuza - these games are long, most require 100% completion, and it's good to know who's a beast at Mahjong on the site. Disgaea - As someone who is trying to plat a lot of these games, the grind is real. There's so many games in the series too that anyone who completes them all has my respect. Street Fighter/Blaze Blue/Guilty Gear/etc - you people are just insane. I can cheese my way to a lot of fighting plats (and proudly have, thank you very much), but completing the series is on a whole nother level for these types of series. Ya'll just ridiculous.
Lord_Bane999
Any series of sports games While there's some difficult games/series out there. I've always felt anyone who completes a sports series is definitely a special breed. Especially those that go after and complete multiple series. Because unlike playing notoriously hard racing, fps or platformers. Your skills in one series can't really translate the same to another. For example someone who has completed all of the NBA2K games and goes after MLB The Show series too is pretty varied. Especially when compared to someone completing Gran Turismo after Grid Series.
czDante92
Any game with mission/game/challenge ranking, because I hate them and they hate me For example, Resident Evil Village would be fun and easy platinum (if you did more playthroughs than you absolutely must have) if not for Mercenaries mode. Or Mercenary since there was only one. I don't like score based game modes, time trial/attack modes and "keep replaying until you master it" modes, and this was all combined. It wasn't THAT hard, but it wasn't enjoyable for me at least. And combos, god I hate combos, always hated them. I want to play my way and combos are artificial challenge for no other reason than to stress the player. So, series like Devil May Cry (yes, I understand the irony), Arkham XYZ or MGS, while I love them, are absolute pain to platinum and I respect anyone who did. EmperorZetta
Earth Defense Force. Those games are the sheer embodiment of "grind". Also anyone who has platted White Knight Chronicles after it went offline...I can't even imagine going for that. And much respect for anyone who has to basically troubleshoot their way through a glitchy, unsupported indie game. I went through A Hole New World a while back and nearly went insane. The requirement to full combo all charts on Extreme difficulty is not something you see a lot of in rhythm game lists. Looking at a few hundred hours of practice just to reach the necessary skill level to complete Dreamy Theater 2nd and Extend if starting from zero. Guitar Hero/Rock Band - Two series I would love to start, and eventually reach the level of either 5 starring or 100%ing Expert charts. Between the unobtainable lists and trophies requiring multiple humans though, I've missed the boat on getting any completions out of these franchises. DJMax - Underrated. DJMax Respect 100% is one of the hardest completions on the PSN, and you're easily looking at a quad digit hour investment if you don't have prior experience with mania games. For non-rhythm, shoutout to anybody that locked in a Tetris series completion before the unobtainables started rolling in. Tetris Effect is really the only playable game in the series at this point -- the idea of playing Ultimate on Vita is both laughable and completely off the table. Fortunately, Effect seems to be most fun out of the four in the series. Not sure if I'll be going for it myself, though - I'll see how I'm feeling about it after Lumines, which I do intend to play at some point.

Fallout - A fan favourite, plenty of meaty story and questlines. Edited October 27, 2022 by TriadThunder-X

Disgaea and Star Ocean stacking is something I would not go for. Was actually coming here to mention Disgaea. I so far only have the plats for 5 and 6, but have been playing them since #1 on the PS2 and would deeply respect anyone with all of them.

x7251
Sports games like FIFA, MLB, NBA, NHL are probably the most difficult to complete an entire series. You don't see too many people with at least 10+ MLB or NBA platinums completed. I am surprised no one mentioned Dragonball and Sonic. Those games are also impressive to complete imo, considering so many Dragonball and Sonic games with trophies have been released on PS3, PS4, and PS5. Some of those games are very time consuming, and some of them are difficult. You don't see too many people with a complete set of all Sonic platinums and 100% of Sonic psn games completed. I am hoping one day to have both of those series all platinumed + 100% for all of the Sonic PSN games like Sonic Adventure. I've always been a big fan of them, right back from Bemani. But over the years these games got harder, and harder and in recent years where I can actually play the piano now. I put a credit into the arcade version of BeatMania DXII Mix 34 (or whatever it was) and man I almost died on the very first level and then had no hope on the 2nd stage which was like 3 out of 8 stars or something. The amount of notes and pace was relentless.. I still remember not being able to even complete let alone master some of the hardest songs on the hardest settings for PS2 Guitar Hero. The fact that it's harder to get platinum on some of these music games that it is to learn an actual real musical instrument. That's honestly some serious dedication right there!

MrHealthy
Anyone who has locked in the LittleBigPlanet / Sackboy series before the servers closed has my respect. Tons of online trophies that either require coordinated boosting or actually being creative. Tons of difficult platforming with no deaths allowed. Tons of collectibles many of which require more then one person to collect. A butt load of DLC that has long been delisted. The requirement to own a PS3, PS5, and Vita to get all the possible games. Plus you need PS Move controllers for one of the spin-offs and DLC packs. Two of the games have a ton of janky bugs and trophies. It's a lot. Spoiler I actually have most of the series done and was able to get all the online done in time. But I don't own a PS5 and don't see myself getting one anytime soon so I can't finish it up. PrinceOfPeace
Some other impressive series are 007/James Bond, Batman, Borderlands, God of War, Grand Theft Auto, Hitman, Killzone, Ratchet & Clank, Red Faction, Sniper Elite, Far Cry, XCOM, Worms, UFC, Uncharted, Cabela's, MotoGP and Warhammer (which also includes all the Space Hulk, Mordheim, Necromunda and Blood Bowl games). Slava
I think I said sports games like NBA and FIFA in a similar thread. Most of us are not big fans of them, but they're impressive to 100%, most of them are ultra rare, and they become unobtainable too quickly. But this time, I want to mention some other franchises. Metal Gear, GTA, and.... Sonic. MGS3 is mostly fine. MGSV and Peace Walker are grindier and more challenging. MGS2, MGS4, and Rising are hard to complete and are the main reason this series is impressive to get. GTAV - both the single player and multiplayer ask a lot from you. Not to mention DLC. GTA4 - Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic, need I say more? Those two are already enough, but there's also stuff like that Godfather rating trophy in the old version of Vice City. Sonic is also impressive to complete. There are many games, new and old. I'm personally familiar with the old PS3 ports of Sonic 1 and 2 where the time attack trophies are the main challenge. Not many people get them. As for the rest of the games, you'll see most of them have their fair share of challenges and ultra rare trophies. Popular Post SoliDeoGloriaIHS
After reading through most of the responses here and giving it some thought and of course my own almost 12 years of gaming and trophy hunting experience, here are my picks: 1. Final Fantasy. A few reasons why this is my number 1. Final Fantasy XIII (my favorite game ever) was my first platinum and the first game that got me into trophy hunting. Heck, my very first trophy that I ever earned was from that game. The platinum took me 261 hours, 5 minutes, 29 seconds. (Damn save files that have to show the amount of time played. I think we would all be better off maybe not knowing.) That was my first platinum and the first JRPG/RPG I ever played and my first Final Fantasy. 261 hours! I played XIII-2 and LR: FF XIII (XIII-3). They each took about 100 hours or more. Now how many Final Fantasies are there? I don't know. 20? Maybe more than 20 with a platinum to earn. And don't forget the two MMOs. XI and XIV. To platinum all of them legit....how many hours? 3,000? 4,000? More? That's why I would say the toughest series to platinum/100% every game would have to be Final Fantasy. 2. Rockstar Games series or even just the GTA series. Take your pick. Same reason. Time. A lot of time. And some of them are not so easy. If we look at the GTA series alone and consider difficulty and grind, we can look no further than GTA IV. GTA IV is notorious among trophy hunters. The difficulty. The time. The patience. The online grind we have all heard about and the glitches. GTA V is also a huuuge grind. I know. I just platinumed it. 336 hours and change. Over 2 weeks of my life. Shall we extend this to all or most all Rockstar games? Red Dead Redemption. That was another 300+ hour grind for the 100%. From what I have heard RDR2 is no different. And the other GTAs that have a platinum? None of them are quick, easy or straight-forward. All of them are a grind. 3. FromSoftware or Soulsbourne series. Someone just completed an entire no-hit playthrough of all seven FromSoftware games - Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1 thru 3, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring. Incredible! Some years ago, I 100%ed Bloodborne. It was my first Soulsbourne experience and it wasn't easy. At all. As far as time goes, I don't know my exact time to 100%, but north of 100 hours I can say with certainty. I'm now playing Demon's Souls. The original on the good old PS3. I'm getting my ass kicked and I'm sure I'm in for close to 200 hours for this platinum. I have more than 20 hours in and have defeated 5 or 6 bosses. So add the grinding and all and 150 to 200 hours might be right. So for long grind (your typical 100+ hour RPG) plus the difficulty, I'm impressed by anyone who has platinumed/100%ed every Soulsbourne game. 4. Lego games. Yes. Lego. As someone else already mentioned, they aren't really difficult. Actually, they're quite easy and fun. BUT....they are a bit of a grind. Not your typical 100+ hour RPG grind. No. Not at all. I have maybe 5 or 6 or 7 Lego plats under my belt. I forget how many and I'm not looking at my profile now. On average, I would say they take about 25 to 30 hours to platinum. However, there are A LOT of Lego games. 20+? Maybe 30+? Let's say 30 hours each to platinum. And let's say there are right now an even 20 Lego titles. That's a minimum of 600 hours. That is a LOT of time. Anyone who has every Lego platinum has my respect. 'Nuff said. EDIT: I'm going to go ahead and add the Call of Duty series. I think there are 19 different CODs not counting different platform versions of the same game (PS3, PS4, PS5). With most of these games, veteran difficulty kind of sucks to try and get through. Quite a few of them have multiplayer trophies that require grinding and then there are the zombies easter egg trophies which are just a complete pain in the ass. Yeah. I see someone with all or most CODs platinumed/100%ed, I'm mad impressed. Edited November 23, 2022 by Spider-Man916
