KyloZen-
Anyone playing through it again currently? We're just over a week away from the release of Ragnarok, so seems like a great time to hop back in.

Mr_Bandicoot93
I think im one of the rare one opinons about it but i didnt like the first game at all. Compare to the Masterpieces from the ps3 it was a Disappointment. A nice and friendly Kratos is just no God of War. Where was the violence but it is Kratos so I must buy it anyway.
caryphernelia
Currently replaying it on Give Me God of War difficulty. Need to refresh my memory on the events of the last game.
JavaNext
I thought about it but decided against it to keep the gameplay feeling "fresh". Ended up watching all the cutscenes on YouTube tho.
ARIXANDRE
Personally, I'm not willing to put the time, though I'm tempted to, at least, remember the control scheme. Storywise, there will be a recap in Ragnarok.
dakk55
These are rookie numbers, buddy. Replay ALL of the GOW games.
Xillynoc
Yep, just replayed this all the way through with my GF a couple weeks ago after showing her all the original games first - she absolutely loved it and we both can't wait for Ragnarok!

Sure they were fun, but this is real character development for Kratos in this new God of War. That's why this is my favorite version of him. Plus.... the beard
kidson2004
Soon as I get done with ONRUSH, I’m going back and popping the plat for this. Once I do that, THEN I’ll play Ragnarok!
Maxie_M0us3
I just beat GoW, as years prior my save was corrupted so I had to redo all over again. So this last week I took the time to finally beat it and know where the story left off before Ragnarök comes out. Ranari_Kai
I replayed GoW a few weeks ago to refresh my memory. also I finally managed to get the plat trophy. the valkyrie queen was suprisingly easy with the right strategy.

Yeah, just don't forget to create a fake account on metacritic and rate it a 0/10... Seriously, you have to be dead inside of you to consider 2018's God of War a "disappointment". I know the gameplay is different, which is a matter of preference, but storywise there's no comparison between this and previous simpleminded GoW games. Eirulan
I started playing through the game for the first time yesterday after reading the outstanding ratings for the second part

People don’t like it if you don’t swim with the Hype. So im dead Inside if I have a other opinion? Very interesting. RPG open world elements have nothing to do with a real god of war and it feels wrong . Same as the new assassin creeds. The old and the new god of war will be for sure fantastic games but the games in the past were the better god of wars.

Tastes are different, it's the same with The Last of Us 2. Some people say it's a masterpiece and one of the best games ever made and some people hate it. Some of my friends prefer the old God of War games (simple Hack & Slash, linear gameplay) compared to the new God of War because they don't like the open world and think the story was too long. To each their own ? He was just voicing his opinion, that's the point of a forum. Edit to add something useful to the topic: I will be replaying God of War because I never got the platinum trophy, I'm trying to take care of that before God of War Ragnarök releases. Different gameplay will appeal to different players. It would have been better if they used a different character for 2018's game and drop "God of War" title, but I personally like how they managed to continue it. There is true character development and a story worth telling. Edited November 5, 2022 by Beyondthegrave07 Don't be rude and condescending
totallycrushed
I can figure out DS bosses but I can't figure out the Valkyrie Queen. I can brute force it to maybe half health but at that point I don't have a reset or a rage to use. Mind you that I do have the best equipment on and the suggested power moves on but I just can't do this shit. And this is on easy... I dunno, challenge is good but this is just dumb, and it will stay undone until I feel like grinding this shit, which is never. gruffiiti
I still need to go back and finish God of War 2018... The story was great but the clean up got pretty repetitive towards the end and I lost interest. Enough time has past now that I might get back into it but I am not looking forward to re-learning the controls.
Jamescush147
My PS4 saves became corrupted so I never finished it. So maybe because the new game is coming out I just started a new game on my PS5 with the digital edition. Hopefully this one won't restart with Kratos falling down an infinite hole. Again. Killbomb
I would have replayed it if they would've added a new trophy list for PS5. I'll just watch the recap in Ragnarok instead.
Kulzyc
I wanted to start a new game+ for the refresh but decided to just watch all the cutscenes on YouTube instead. I think it's best that way so you don't feel "burned out". Not a problem if you're an hardcore gamers but casual gamers will understand lol.
