Tagging DLC as Shovelware

Well, that didn't take long. Shovelware developers have apparently noticed their games aren't showing up in the list of new releases anymore... but they are showing in the list of new DLC. Hopefully whatever Sly did to tag full games, they can do to tag DLC as well.

kind of amazing what a difference just hiding the games from the new games list made.  It's evidently hurting their sales and i've noticed a few of the people who based their entire profile off these games have left the site.  

 

If I were the developers I wouldn't want to push my luck because this site really has the power to shut them down for good.  I don't consider the integrity of the people making these games as any better than someone who buys a 100 ps5 systems and scalps them.  I hope they get shut down.

Still a long stretch because there are far less DLC releases and so far - it may or may not change in the future - shovelware DLC isn't flooding anything. A PS5 port of a PS4 game with lots of DLCs (e.g. Dead by Daylight) floods the DLC release list and nobody complained.

 

Until there is a flood of shovelware DLCs I'd say its just another cheap shot from the shovelware witch hunt, the resentfulness being shown in that game's DLC thread (lets make the DLC $50, and insults).

I already mentioned it just yesterday in the other trending topic calling out the "Stroke The Puppy" DLC pack and I'm gonna ask once again:

 

Can the show/hide shovelware filter be applied onto or just outright remove the "Easy Games" box positioned right of the main games page's list of games, you know, the one sitting under "Popular Games"?

If the hide shovelware feature can be implemented onto the DLC section, I hope every single shovelware stack will get a paid DLC so that all the connoisseurs of these "games" will have a reason to come back and spend some more quality time on these titles. I am sure the developers will be delighted by the revenue and the people who enjoy these masterpieces will be thrilled to go back to them.

They're getting desperate now. I guess we can expect the DLC tab to become unusable soon. I don't want to give them ideas since they're almost certainly aware of both threads about this topic and all the discussion that goes on about their "games" here in general, but they could quite easily use this loophole to bypass the shovelware filter on new trophy lists by giving their new releases a free DLC trophy pack at launch. Then boom, their shovelware gets a ton of free advertising by having them appear on the front page again like nothing ever happened.

 

This seems like an oversight on Sly's part, and I know it's asking a lot from him, but I hope he plugs this loophole as soon as possible. There's already a list of games marked as shovelware, so it should be as simple as applying that same filter to the 'New DLC' section on the homepage and the DLC tab on the games page. Just going to tag @BlindMango since I think you had something to do with getting Sly to implement the shovelware filter in the first place. 

 

Also, while I'm at it, I figured I'd mention that the DLC page does't actually mention PS5 in the header at the top, so it's in need of an update anyway. ?

I also agree with one of the posts above that suggested the 'Easy Games' box should be removed from the games page. It's just another avenue for these so-called devs to promote their garbage shovelware. You can get the same result by ordering the game page by average completion anyway. It's just about making it more difficult for people to find.

After a couple of weeks with these garbage games disappearing from the front page i must say, it's amazing. Finally you can track new releases and don't need to scroll through tons of garbage. it's really a great thing. A minor change that had a huge impact on the page in general. It's just very well done!

 

I really hope something similar will be added now for dlcs soon, as the section on the main page is even smaller. imagine a flood of garbage dlcs you would search forever again for "normal" expansions -.-

And yes, this is absolutely useless in 2022 It was a nice feat back in those days, but now it's just a waste of space.

Do you guys remember when players with hidden trophies were "accused" of having easy games like Terminator Salvation and Hannah Montana: The Game? xD

The one thing that always frustrated me is that for people like me who want to look at the hardest games out there, I always have to go to that Easy Games list, then go to the last few pages of that. Wish it could be the opposite and have it filter the hard games first.

I have no issues about removing shovelware from that Easy Games list, but if it's not possible, then I'd rather have the list of "Hard Games" have a box to click instead of the Easy Games box.

If you're gonna remove the "Easy Games" box, can you at least update the Hard Games box to have a button you can click to sort the games list automatically? :)

So now "Stroke The Dog" takes literal center piece of the front end of the website and might be there for several weeks at this rate...


If the DLC front page becomes all “Stroke The” DLC’s, then we absolutely need the filter.

Nah, we need the filter as soon as possible. Even those few DLC we have now are too much for me. This site is about Trophy hunting, not Trophy popping.
