Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a collection of Bioware's acclaimed Mass Effect RPG trilogy remastered for the PS4 with visual and gameplay upgrades, and comes with almost all the DLC that was released for the trilogy.

 

There's nothing I can really say about this series that you probably haven't already heard. Despite the much hated ending to the trilogy, the Mass Effect games are still considered by many to have some of the best writing and characters in gaming to date. Notably, the first Mass Effect's gameplay has been overhauled to play more like 2 & 3.

 

If you're wondering why the user score seems so low for such beloved games, it's because the game received several 0 & 1 ratings from players in countries where the game didn't have the option of the English dub with subtitles and user interface in that country's native language. This issue seems to have been resolved since then.  

 

Biomutant is an open world action RPG where you play as an customizable animal warrior in a post-apocalyptic setting, where the the customizations you make when creating your character are impacted by the stats you prioritize at the start. Highly anticipated before release, the game didn't quite live up the hype, receiving mostly mixed reviews. 

 

Besides launching with several bugs and glitches (most of which have been patched since then), the game's story and open world activities were criticized for being bland, unimaginative and repetitive. The constant interjections from the narrator were also found be annoying by many but a patch was released allowing players to reduce how often they have to hear the narrator.

 

However there was praise for the game's enemy designs, expansive crafting system, and DMC inspired combat. The look of the open world was also praised, even if the activities available were criticized. And with all of that said, this is a game by a small studio that's been updating the game since release and improving performance. Biomutant's a much better game now than when it launched.  

 

Divine Knockout is an upcoming Smash bros like 3D platform fighter published by Hi-Rez Studios (Paladins, Smite, Rouge Company), with fast paced combat and mythological characters such as Thor, Izanami, King Arthur, Amaterasu, etc. There's not a lot of info about this game available right now, it's coming to PS+ the same day it's officially released.

Trophy Hunting

 

Mass Effect Legendary Edition comes with 4 trophy lists and a platinum trophy for each game. 

 

The trophy guide for Mass Effect by Theoretical_Moss, cakeisatruth and JNSpradlin give the game a difficulty rating of 3/10, with the platinum taking 20 hours to achieve. There are several missable trophies as detailed in the guide.

 

The trio's guide for Mass Effect 2 has the same difficulty rating and platinum time. Meanwhile the trophy guide for Mass Effect 2 by Liav222 gives the second game a difficulty rating of 3/10 too with the platinum taking 35 hours to achieve. Once again there are several missable trophies.

 

The trio's guide for Mass Effect 3 has a difficulty rating of 3/10, the same as the two previous entries and an estimated platinum time of 25 hours. This time however you'll need two playthroughs as you can not upgrade your weapon to level 10 in your initial playthrough. As with the other games, there are several missable trophies.

 

Finally, there's a trophy list that encompasses the whole trilogy. The guide by Theoretical_Moss gives it a difficulty rating of 6/10 and the 100% taking 60 hours as you have to play all three games with your choices carrying over.

 

Going for this 100% also means the you'll have to make the platinums for the trilogy harder or do extra playthroughs, as the 100% requires you to complete each game on Insanity difficulty while the platinum trophies have no difficulty requirements.  

 

There is however a glitch detailed in the guide that makes the 100% much easier and less time consuming but it appears to have been patched, so you'll have to revert to an older version of the trilogy if you want to use that shortcut.

Biomutant's trophy guide by Ac3dUd3 gives the game a difficulty rating of 3/10, with an estimated platinum time of 30 hours. PowerPyx's guide also gives the game a difficulty rating of 3/10, with the platinum taking from 20 to 30 hours to achieve. The PlayStationTrophies guide sticks with same difficulty rating, and gives an estimated platinum time of 25 to 30 hours.

 

There are 4 missable trophies related to bosses in the game, and a number of trophies related to collectibles. There are some trophies that become grindier than they need to be if you don't focus on them from the start, they are detailed in the guides. There were some glitched trophies at launch but they have been fixed as of the latest patch.

 

Divine Knockout isn't out yet, so there's no trophy guide but the trophy list is available to see. This is an online multiplayer game, so you should have some idea of what you're in for. People playing the closed alpha have already unlocked several trophies, and it seems the trophies to watch out for are the those for achieving gold rank for victories and KOs as they could be grindy, as well as the Rebound trophy which appears to be skill/situational based.

Interesting, if this is true then in reality we're getting 5 games instead of 3, I already have Mass Effect, watched a gameplay video of Divine Knock Out, not for me that one but I am interested to try Biomutant.

Mass Effect, huh? At this rate, the entire EA Play catalog will be playable through PS+ by the end of the year.

 

Biomutant falls into the I would play it, but I wouldn't buy it category. Perfect fit for Plus.

Biomutant can be done in under 18 hours easily (did that on my fourth platinum run). For Plus this is a good game, I can recommend it (on PS5 make sure you pick the 60fps performance option).

Already did Mass Effect (great series), but didn't try Biomutant, so I'll definitely give that a go at some point. DKO doesn't look like something for me.

Solid enough lineup. I can't see myself playing through ME again though, or suffering through Biomutant after the reviews it got. But objectively it's a solid lineup.

No previous or current PS Plus/Now game?? It's a miracle lol. Good month if you're a PS5 or standard PS4 owner. Would like to play Mass Effect but looking at the Digital Foundry video the performance is all over the place on PS4 Pro as usual. Did they ever update the games to fix the issues? Wouldn't surprise me if the didn't.

Was planning to play biomutant sometime so this saves me from buying it, pretty good month even though the online game isn't for me but it's new, also never played mass effect, maybe this tempts me to try it.

Mass Effect LE is in my Xmas list and I'm afraid someone already got me that but I'd rather have the physical disc anyway. If not it's pretty cool, PS+ can just gift it to me.

Excited about Biomutant. My brother played it and loved it so looking forward to it.

actually i like it a lot.  I held off on both games and never bought either one.  Mass effect will be nice to play through and Biomutant actually looks like a decent game i thought about buying several times and held off.
