Platinum Difficulty Challenge 2023

Finely got around to finish Dragon Ball Xenoverse! Initially my plan was just to burn time until Persona 3 Portable, but since I was somewhat close to platinum it when Persona released, I decided to get done with it! Since Xenoverse was a work in progress (or just started..) for 4 years, that at least now gives me another badge lol. I also think that either the platinum time in the PSNProfiles guide is overestimated or I got much luckier than most, since it took me around 85 hours to platinum the game.. (the 5/10 difficulty was also took from the PSNProfiles guide too)

My continued pursuit for OCD....continues....with Cat Quest II.  This is a little harder than I remember the first one being, but overall not too bad (took me like double the ETA in the guide though that's likely because I didn't follow a guide).  Okay, the difficulty is picking up.  I think I'm going to stick with Soul Hackers 2 as I'm genuinely enjoying it (however, it seems much maligned so I'm waiting for it to start sucking; hopefully not though).

Hey @Rebourne07, I'll throw in a question, maybe it was answered before but I can't find where.

In the events that I have a "duplicate" game difficulty platinumed in 2023 (for instance Darksiders is a 4/10 but I already have a 4/10 on my list), can I automatically use the duplicate for my 2nd list, in case I manage to finish the first list?

SMITE has two of the easiest trophies glitched for over a year now and it is the only thing stopping me from having the platinum.

I was hoping to have my 8/10 game Asterix & Oblelix XXL Romeastered completed by now but the Extreme mode on it is currently kicking my Butt! 

Deffo seeming to be worthy of the high difficulty rating for me at the moment anyway and I still also have all the challenges to get through as well.

Yes they do, If you go to the OP and then click to expand the Resources, then click to expand on the 9/10 and 10/10 you will be able to click on the individual games links that show where the difficulty rating is taken from. Crash 4 could be counted as either a 9/10 or a 10/10

Looks like we have a double whammy update!

 

Uh oh. This one stinks! Borderlands 3 

 

Thoughts: Borderlands 3 fails to live up to the lightning in a bottle that was Borderlands, and more so the polished lightning in a bottle that was Borderlands 2. While Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was a bit of a misstep for the franchise, Borderlands 3 is a cataclysmic fall. Couch co-op is unplayable on PS4. If you want the co-op experience, you must play online co-op. This is a huge criticism to the game because couch co-op was the main reason why I enjoyed the games so much. Constant lagging, freezing, unreadable text, and hard crashes resulted in abandoning couch co-op, and playing solo. What is left is a game struggling to reignite that spark which once made Borderlands great. The new gizmos the game introduces are fine, but it only momentarily distracts from the empty experience. DLCs? Season Passes? No thanks. I cannot recommend Borderlands 3 in good faith.

 

Good game, weird platinum. Cities: Skylines 

 

Thoughts: When I first played Cities: Skylines, I wasn't going for the platinum. It is an enjoyable city sim and the console version is surprisingly good to control. The platinum was a challenge just for the fact that it is a major time sink (estimate is 150 hours). '1001 Nights' took me by surprise. This one trophy will take you the longest to obtain. Casually playing the game, I didn't use the Day/Night cycle which meant that when I decided to get the platinum, I played well over the estimated completion time. Rookie mistake! 'Happy Town' requires a very specific setup for your city to achieve the trophy, so this trophy might initially stump you. If you don't care about completion percentages, go for it. If you care about completion percentages, be aware of the DLCs. There are many DLC packs that keep getting pumped out so you will always need to play catch-up with the ever expanding trophy lists. Overall, it is a good game that dragged on.

 

Difficulty List Log - Changing Tales from the Borderlands to Life is Strange because its now on PS Plus. Enjoying the challenge so far. Cleaning up the backlog and playing new games is satisfying. Persona 5 Royal will be my 50th platinum, I'll make sure it is.

Time for an update! Platinum #3 done with Life is Strange. Can't believe it took me so long to play, amazing game. First couple chapters were a little cringey but also took me back to being a teen around that time haha. Happy it came to extra and I finally got to experience it.

 

Made some good progress with Yakuza Kiwami also, upto about 95% on the completion list and then just Legendary playthrough. I'll be working on this side by side with another game on my list!

I want to make a minor amendment to my list, @Rebourne07. I'd like to replace RAGE with Medal of Honor (2010). I'm quite certain this is fine, but I'd appreciate the confirmation nonetheless. In terms of badges, doing this won't affect anything as far as I can see. PS3 Master is still retained, One Trick Pony is the same, and for Jack of All Trades, I'll just switch Vanquish to Science Fiction and give Shooter to Medal of Honor.

Np man, you can switch uncompleted games anytime. You can update here when you change if you want to but you don't need to. Nothing really matters until it's completed anyway and even then the only thing that goes on the Leaderboards is a reference to your completed 10/10 which I doubt anyone would ever change anyway.

Finished Thief for my 5/10 and had a lot of fun with it. I'm not usually big on stealth games and that was evident my first playthrough where I just killed everything I saw to make looting and challenges easier. However, the second playthrough I had to do with modifiers meant I actually had to play stealthy and it really forces you to rethink each area and the best way to get around each person. Excited to also be nearing the end of my first playthrough of demons souls (PS5) so hopefully I can clean that up in the next week or so.
