This question is specifically targeted towards people who like console more than PC. I am not looking for a flame war or anything, just curious to see others mindset about this. I personally enjoy using all consoles and my gaming PC. However, I do have a personal preference for console for reasons such as physical games and the fact it is plug and play. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Keep it civil please, thank you!

I prefer it mainly because of the trophies, I'm not a big fan of steam achievements I feel like people only use them to write messages on their profiles with the achievements displayer, and there isn't any kind of filter or review by steam for those joke games that have like 4000 achievements that you get just by entering level 1. i feel like consoles take achievements more seriously even with small games, if you are looking for a video guide to get an achievement the person in the video is probably gonna be using the playstation or xbox version of that game for the same reason.

I actually played a lot more PC games as a kid, especially those simulation games like Zoo Tycoon, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Bullfrog games and the Sims, as well as some RTS games. I mostly saw PC as the "best" thing to play games on it because it generally had my favourite games. However, my taste in games has changed a lot since then - I still like the odd management sim, but most of the ones I've been interested in are thankfully on console now anyway, and for the most part, are still the exact same games they are on PC with the same DLC (unlike those days where there'd be a Nintendo DS version of Zoo Tycoon that was very much just a "lite" version of the game). Nowadays, there's rarely any PC exclusives that interest me, and even when there are, there's a good chance they'll eventually come to consoles anyway (still waiting on Planet Zoo though...)

PCs eventually just didn't have as much lure to me, they started getting a bit too costly to maintain, and as more and more PC games became digital only, I became all the more interested in consoles. Also 0 this has always kinda been something that's bothered me about gaming on PC - because there's so many different variants of PCs, there's so many different variables for things going wrong. Oh, this game starts but it's just a black screen? Time to do a bunch of troubleshooting and hope it works. Even with games on Steam, weird issues like this are not too uncommon. On consoles, at least if a game has a glitch or issue of some kind, it generally affects ALL versions of that game because the console is a lot more limited, meaning there's a good chance it'll be patched and you won't have to worry about getting it working for your specific console.

And that's really the main gist of it - consoles are simply cheaper, generally has less weird specific issues, and they still have a good variety of physical games that I adore collecting. I didn't become mildly interested in trophies/achievements until much later, they didn't really have any influence in my decision to shift more focus to consoles. I'd say I started becoming a primary console gamer around 2007-2008 or so, which ironically is around the same time I bought my last gaming PC that barely saw any real use.

I've seriously debated getting a Steamdeck but eventually decided against it. My current PC can run all the games I have in my library fine anyway, which mostly just consists of old (pre 2010) games, visual novels and some indie titles. My spouse, whose never been a big PC gamer at all, did get one though, and as I feared, he has had some issues with games not running at all or having other major issues. I know the Steamdeck can arguably be called a bit of a different beast from your regular ol' PC, but the fact remains that for me at least - PC is too much of a headache to deal with as my primary source of gaming.

I much prefer to sit back on a couch and play games rather than sit at a desk. I sit at a desk on a computer for my job, the absolute last thing I want to do to relax when I get home is jump back on a computer and sit behind a keyboard and mouse. Also, I think Sony has better games although now they are starting to make their way to PC anyway albeit very late.

As I have been a console gamer then whent PC for 1st half of ps4 gen. I also set my PC up on a TV to chill on the couch and play.

I came back to console game for 1 reason. JRPG. As console has tons that PC didn't have.

But as of now. The Japanese people have inbrace PC more then console as Sony stopped really caring about the east. That not just me. It's shows in sales. And if you ever hangout on Japanese game froums. That opening flame Sony. It's now Nintendo PC 1st.

I only got a ps5 as to future proof for this gen. And give my ps4 to the family to play as have to many games. Honestly which how this gen going. I'll probably move back to PC after this gen. As Sony doesn't change there focus on making games in different genres and not just adventure games only. Not that there bad. Just they need to diversified.

The only reason Sony is doing well is MS when all in on Gamepads and basically is just killing themself on console. Nintendo as beening a ok console but is so far behind in power. That you can easy emu them on PC so no point in getting one.

And no I'm not said go do that mod. But it is a part of gaming at this point. The steam deck has a app for different one built in.

Sitting on the couch, comfortable gamepad, Not owning a gaming PC and keeping it up to date, not having to deal with installation and other PC related complications...
before I got into playstation I was only gaming on my laptop.. so I've never been part of the PC Master Race anyways xD

Downside are more expensive prices and less options for customization (modding)

convenience. Not having to wait on a boot up, open a browser etc, go to steam, find game, load game.

Plus consoles are cheaper and high end PCs get outdated quickly

This and the Platinum Trophies. :platinum:

Ease of use and comfort. I use to be really into PCs, built my own. I remember I bought a Gforce MX 440 with an awesome 64mb lol. Playing Max Payne, Quake 3 Arena and using Winamp. I then bought a PS3 in 2009 and never looked back.

I recently got a PC, I lasted 1 day before I just couldn't be bothered it's such a farce. Messing about with settings to get everything properly optimised, then messing about with graphics settings. And unless you have a desk and chair it's just no good and uncomfortable.  With console it's turn on, done.  In the end I just downloaded a SNES emulator and played Donkey Kong Country lol. All I really use PC for now is self boosting games through PS Plus app.

I've played on PC for many years and I would say that PC is superior to console in almost any way. However I started to like hunting trophies. That's the main reason I stay with Playstation.

Another reason is the game library I've access to by being a Playstation Plus Member for many years (Now Playstation Premium). I don't need to buy games anymore since they are for free beside the costs of the Abo of course. On Steam I would have to build up a game library almost from scratch (The games I've got the are over a decade old).

A third reason is that mods for games are a good thing a well supported on PC, but in order to use them you need to have some knowledge about how to use them, and that's too complicated for me. So that's not much of a reason for me to switch to PC.

I've just never been a PC gamer. As a kid I played PC games too, don't get me wrong, but back then you couldn't just easily plug a controller in so it was all mouse and keyboard mostly.

Ever since the first time I held a Sega Genesis and NES/SNES controller I just knew I loved video games and consoles.

It's nothing against PC gaming at all, I just prefer consoles because they are what I grew up loving.

1) Price - Not paying more than the cost of a console for a graphics card alone. I like higher frame rates and resolution but dont 'need' it if its going to cost an insulting and unreasonable amount.

2) Space - I love small form factor PCs and in the past there has usually been loads of options for dual and single fan GPUs that are capable of high-end gaming. But the new GPUs keep getting bigger and bigger and arent appealing at all. They require unnecessarily large PC cases which end up with more than 3/4 the internal volume empty because the only reason the case is that big due to the length of the GPU. They look ridiculous when you put it on a desk and I hate to be the one to say it but adding RGB to it doesnt make up for it.

3) ITX/SFX failure - I would have expected ITX motherboards and SFX power supplies to become the norm by now. Most people including gamers dont need the features offered by larger motherboards like the better CPU power delivery (most people dont have the most powerful CPUs and/or over-clock) or 4 RAM stick slots. The PC gaming industry has made no effort to shift gamers towards smaller, more space efficient components that can appeal to a range of gamers, and now they're paying the price because gamers (who are overwhelmingly casuals) would rather buy consoles/laptops/tablets because they dont want to pay premiums for 120fps, ray-tracing, or native 4k resolution. The only positive space-saving change in the last 15 years that has been successful has been the popularisation of M.2 SSDs), and that was primarily driven by microsoft to make portable windows devices compete with macbooks for speed.

4) Supply cost - The supply of components to consumers for building has been poor for some time now. PC gaming used to be great value because you could buy new components and make a PC that cost you significantly less than the market price of a pre-built system. Component manufacturers have now hiked up the pricing for sales made directly to consumers, to keep pre-built PC retailers on their side for marketing and other benefits. A lot of shops in the UK that used to sell PC components have either stopped doing so, or have a sorry looking range of products. Non-specialist stores that are happy to sell electronics still dont want to touch PC components with a bargepole. Theres literally no visibility for PC components on the high street, and online theres about 3 popular companies that sell components in the UK, which still have plenty of shocking customer reviews.

I've still always prefered having a PC in the house, but I wont be buying a huge costly GPU or upgrading to a case with a capacity larger than 10 litres. As much as I hate it, I'm realising why Sony managed to get away with the price increase for their 3+ year old ancient hardware spec.

I've always wanted to be a PC gamer because most of my favorite YouTube gamers are, plus there's some incredible games on steam that are PC only. I tried it and... well, it's just not for me. It feels awkward and I don't enjoy it. There are some exceptions, of course, like the Sims 4. I HATE the Sims 4 on console. Then there's games like World of Warcraft which I wish was on console but I doubt that will ever happen lol Nowadays, I rarely play games on PC unless it's something I really want to play (like As Dusk Falls.)

I've been gaming on consoles my whole life, so I guess it's just familiar to me and feels comfortable. I love console gaming c: I just wish games would stop increasing in price lmao

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I love the trophies! Steam achievements are nice but... they don't have the same oomph as PS trophies imo

- Way cheaper, graphic cards skyrocketing in price cuz of crypto is a huge reason why I quit gaming on PC.

- Way better price to performance

- Exclusives

- Physical media

- Trophies >>>>>>>>>>> Steam achievements

- Significantly less hackers when playing online

- More time gaming, less time tinkering with settings and worry about shit like performance/graphic settings.

- Way less technical issues to run into

- More even playing field when playing online. You could be running into a dude who spent $10K+ on the most expensive gaming peripherals and PC hardware and plays on a 240hz monitor at locked 240fps while having state of the art mouse and keyboards with macros that give them the biggest advantages.
