Guide of the Year Awards 2022 - Announcement

PSNProfiles is proud to announce the ninth annual

 

 

It's that time of year again in which the PSNP's communities' guides are weighed against one another to determine the best of the best. 2022 has been the most active year in guide curation than ever before. With a change of focus in processing and an established community, we have published, 618 guides to date. A new record of publications that knocks all previous years out of the park. Let's give a round of applause to our authors.

 

Just like last year, three winners will be rewarded with the Guide of the Year Award!  Also like last year, the format will be the same in where the team will be selecting the nominees with the community voting on the winners of each category, albeit with some adjustments based on feedback. Unchanged however is that authors have a chance to win prizes in the 7 other categories for guides in addition to the best overall top three guides. In total, 24 guides will receive rewards this year.

 

 

These categories are for:

• Overall Guide of the Year 2022: The best of the best of all guides chosen for the year. The candidates for this category are made up of the selections of the seven categories below.
• Exceptional Trophy Guide: Any guide of exceptional quality that falls under the base "Trophy Guide" format this year.
• Exceptional DLC Guide: Guides for pieces of DLC or patches that add trophies made under the "DLC Guide" format.
• Exceptional Gameplay Guide: Any guide that is made under the "Gameplay Guide" format this year.
• Exceptional Use of Formatting: Some writers make their guide so clean and organized it is like an artwork by making great use of headings, colors, images, etc.
• Exceptional Use of Original Content: Some writers go the extra mile and make their own videos, images, and combination of these within their guide.
• Retro Enthusiast: Returning due to popularity, PS3 or Vita guides this year that are considered to be of exceptional quality may qualify for this category. We have also decided to expand this category slightly to also include VR games.
• New Authors: To celebrate the overall success of the community, and to encourage new authorship, we would like to recognize guides of exceptional quality from new authors who had their first guides published this year.

 

Here are the rules:

• The guides in which the community will vote on will be hand picked and selected by the PSNP Guide Team and Moderation Team in round one, and then the community will vote on the selections made in round two to determine the winners.
• You may not vote for your own guides if they are nominated.
• Only guides published between January 1^st, 2022 and December 31^st, 2022 are being considered by staff in the chosen list.
• A special voting thread will be created on January 9^th, 2023, in which the community will be able to vote on the staff selection.
• The voting thread will be closed after two weeks. The top three guides of each category and the top three guides overall will determine the winners of each of the categories as well as the overall GOTY winner.
• Staff member guides are not eligible to win the GOTY, however, Co-op guides with staff members will be eligible, in case a co-op guide ends up in the top 3, the non-staff writer will get the whole prize.
• In case a guide has more than 1 writer, the prize will be split between all guide contributors, so long as they contributed a meaningful amount to the guide. We track all edits so this will be checked.

 

Disqualifications:

• An author may be disqualified from the GOTY recognition if they have received community strikes in the qualifying year. This includes Forum Mod points, Cheater Removal Team flags, Guide Team strikes (such as plagiarism and other occurrences), and general harassment in the community.
• Authors who are found to be soliciting votes, or are attempting to manipulate voting, will be disqualified from the event.
• Users who try to use alternate accounts will have all votes nulled.

 

Voting Requirements:

• You will be required to give 2 choices per category and 1 GOTY selection. A list will be provided in the future voting thread under the seven qualifying categories.
• A user's vote is only valid if the user's account is older than 1 year old, with 50 posts older than 8 months. Authors are exempt from this restriction.

 

 

GOTY2022 Prizes:

For the moment you all have waited for, the GOTY2022 Prize Pool!

 

Every Guide Writer:

•  The Ultimate Prize: is the satisfaction of helping gamers all around the world. Give yourself a well-deserved pat on the shoulder.  

Overall Top 3:

•  1st Place: a cash prize of $100
•  2nd Place: a cash prize of $80
•  3rd Place: a cash prize of $60

Exceptional Categories:

•  1st Place: a cash prize of $50
• 2nd Place: a cash prize of $40
•  3rd Place: a cash prize of $30

Random Voting Prize

• 3 random voters will earn: a cash prize of $25

In total, there is a total of $1155! Exciting! That is a lot of money!

 

Besides the money prizes, GOTY winners will receive a special GOTY2022 seal and all nominations this year from the staff picks will receive a Seal of Excellence to commemorate your excellence and fame for years to come! 

 

We hope to see you all in a few weeks for when we reveal our staff picks and excited to see your feedback on what you think are the best of the best guides of the year.

I really like the category of New Authors because not only does this help encourage new members to continue writing guides, but to also express their artistic style in how they put together guides for uncovered games or DLC. It’s never easy putting a guide together, but I would like to congratulate all the new authors on their debuts!

Lol, but no. You can’t vote for your own guides if they get nominated. It won’t seem fair to the other trophy guides or authors. Plus, it’s always been a general rule. Good Luck on your guides though, given you made your debut this year and had my help with Multiversus!
