If you must...  I can see where Tan would come from... but I suspect that once you have more colours filled, you'll likely want to swap it out for a more obvious Tan one

ok, no worries. I knew it was a fail as soon as I saw the tile. I’ll pick this challenge up again once forspoken is done....or I’ll just have to bump devil in me off my planned list as that was down for brown.

 

before this challenge I’d never realised how game tiles were dominated by black, grey, white, brown and blue. It’s actually trickier than you would think to fill these with games I actually want to play for some of the colours.

Yeah - there's definitely a few colours that are gimmies, and a few (Maroon, Dark Purple and Yellow in my experience) that can be pretty tricky to find one for!

 

Well, remember - the event runs for a full year, and there's a prestige element to doing multiple lists, so keep the game you don't use in mind, even if it doesn't fit... it may fill out that colour for a second list sometime in the future ?

Here comes the next colour update from me ^-^

 

 

I changed Minecraft from brown to blue, because it fits the background much better, so thanks for helping me with that colour @DrBloodmoney

 

Since last I also complete Yooka-Laylee after almost 4 and half years. I am getting so many old games done this January, it makes me very happy. I really wanted to put it on purple with Laylee, because I like Laylee much more than Yooka, and also I think purple might be harder to come by. But it just really fits green much better, so I felt I couldn't do that. 

 

This game was not at all close to being done. I played the first world (out of 5) and got like half the collectables, and then I quit. I do know why I quit though, it's not the best platformer. I don't have the nostalgia for Banjo-Kazooie because I never played it. The platform collectathons I grew up with were Spyro, Jak & Daxter etc. And compared to them, I felt like the worlds in Yooka Laylee were way too big. Or maybe they weren't too big I have a hard time figuring out what I didn't like. I just feel like every world was a giant box with structures put into it, instead of having a like a natural progression or something more compact if they want you to choose where you go. 

 

I did like playing through now, because I've had some time away from it, and my expectations were much lower this time around. So now it actually positively surprised me. It is a platformer at core. But I don't think it's very good platforming. The controls are poor imo. But the abilities you get are fun to use. Also you have to do so much different in each world to get the Pagies. I liked the design of the worlds as well, except the hub world. I feel like I've heard people say the Capital Cashino was the worst world - but it was actually my favourite together with the last world. It's really rare that I like the latter worlds. For me in games the best worlds are always the first ones and then they gradually decline, but in this case I thought all the worlds in the middle were bad and loved the last 2 and the first. 

 

What else I didn't like was there were so many collectables that were a bit meaningless. Like 200 quills in each world? And they're placed in singles all around, so if you miss one too bad, have fun going through everything looking for it. Luckily it didn't happen for me except one time, where it was a quill hidden very well and alone. 

 

I've got many mixed feelings with this game. It was very cute, but all the sounds were awful and annoying so I'd almost rather play the game muted. The collectables had fun challenges to complete and were very varied, but the controls weren't very good. If you asked me for a collectathon I wouldn't recommend Yooka-Laylee, but I did have my fun with it and it wasn't too long either. If you're a big fan of Banjo-Kazooie maybe you feel different.

6th game for challenge done, thought it a natural choice for this challenge. 

There are three equal choices I think for this one for what colour I could have put this down for, but for now have used it for pink

I’m making progress. I love me some point and click adventure games and these are some classics. I’ve played Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space before, but it was still fun to revisit. I did the PS3 version since it’s included in the plus premium tier. I did do the whole game though, not just the first episode, also I saw that there is a lovely looking PS4 remaster that I might have to get

 

I've never played Monkey Island 2 before though, despite The Secret of Monkey Island being one of the first games I ever played (and gave up in frustration as a 5 year old, don’t worry I’ve finished it many times since). It was so much fun seeing another story of Guybrush Threepwood. I do wish the other games were available to play on PS4, but hopefully I’ll be able to play the new one once I get a PS5.

 

The Swapper was my favourite recent game. It’s such a nice puzzle game. The puzzles are just tricky enough to give you some satisfaction at figuring it out without making you want to quit in frustration. The story was also fantastic, I absolutely loved the ending when everything fell into place.

 

Next game that’ll be finished is this:

I’d say both Light Blue and Purple would work, but Light Blue is the better choice!

First color (red) done with Maneater. It was surprising to earn the platinum because I did my first playthrough upgrading my shark with the adaptations that I thought looked good, not those that were actually useful (bone armor). So, when I reached the final boss, l couldn't beat the second stage of the battle. Plus, I had one frustrating collectible glitch out on me in the last area, & while I enjoyed the game, I didn't feel up to replaying all that for a collectible that may or may not glitch again. I downloaded the large patch, which thankfully fixed my collectible & I grinded a few more adaptation upgrades & beat the final boss.

One of the main reasons that I haven't made a plan, is because I know that new games will come out this year that I would likely platinum, also I lack commitment to most plans anyway... anyway my sixth game for this, as of writing has a platinum rate of 0%... I'm so skilled ?. It's a blue one which got trophy support added today, Super Stardust Portable (PS4).

 

 

This is the PSP release in the long running Stardust franchise its the... *goes on Wikipedia* 2nd/3rd/4th entry#. Unlike the other games which take place on planet shaped arenas, this is more of a looping circle which is a lot smaller than you'll realise. It's not a terrible change, it's a lot easier to see if something is going to hit you in the immediate moment, but you do lose out on seeing pick ups from further away. Most importantly with this release we have the ability to Cheat! with the rewind mode, without it I would have no chance to complete this game. Should you play it? It is short with six stages and only 4 unique bosses but it's also only £8 outside of Plus. I had fun with it, but I wouldn't have bought it separately. 6/10 for the 6th game .

 

 

# Legitmately I don't understand what counts as an entry, HD was called a remake of a the second entry from 1994, but it's deemed the 3rd game, but the PS3, PSP, PS4 and PSVR versions are all considered the same entry, I can attest though that the PSP version is definitely different due to the lack of planet arenas mentioned above and new bosses.

Completed my first two colors.  The first two games I completed this year were both tan in my opinion so I'm going with Little Hope since it is more tan.  My Orange color is The Medium.  Next is Gone Home for Deep Purple and afterwards the PS3 version of Skyrim for Gray.  I'm having trouble posting the kaleidoscope image so I will post like this for now.

I got a platinum! Wasn't sure if I ever get another one. Also wasn't sure if I even like metroidvanias anymore. Turns out I did get one and I still do. I'd say it counts for Grey - I'd put it under tan or light blue just to fill these hardly (I think) used colors, but it seems like kind of a stretch.

 

 

Hopefully I still qualify for this. May even get a few more by the time the event ends too ?

First update. Got my first four games on the board with Yellow, Orange, Maroon and Grey.

 

 

Persona 5 Royal on PS5 is my fourth overall Persona 5 platinum. One in vanilla and 3 in royal. Still a great game. Dragonball Z: Kakarot was a partial autopop. The save file I had was from mid Buu Saga for some reason so I had to beat it again and mop up all the post game stuff. Still not a fan of that game. Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe was a great game and I loved all it's new content and it's view on sequels. Totally Normal Journey was fucking weird. This dude that makes these games is a maniac but i'm here for it.

inFamous first light was kind of disappointing which sucks because I liked the other 3. I just don't get the neon gimmick, the story is incredibly short and most of the gameplay is in the arena doing challenges which wasn't too hard. I've at least done them all minus Festival of Blood which I didn't like either.

Completed my fifth game, Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! for the Pink color. It's a nice visual novel with some twists and definitely more than the Just Monika memes. The side stories are really interesting.

Well, almost about to release another shiny Pokemon as I am close to platinuming another game, namely Disgaea 5. I got the hardest tear-my-hair-out stuff out of the way, namely the Carnage Dimension and have only three trophies left, all which are easy to get.

 

I need some outside opinion on what to do next. I won't put Disgaea 4+ Complete here because I am dreading another Disgaea after Carnage freaking Dark(and D4+ Complete is even more grindy since it doesn't have those easy maps or mechanics Disgaea 5 has so you'll be grinding a TON), so I want to take a month or so away from that game(also I put that game on the Backlog by the Month challenge), therefore I need your opinions on one of these titles:

 

The most work I did, my current save is right before i go to fight the first Nightmare boss so I just need to overlevel a tad to make sure I don't die to that boss.

I had a cross save of World of Final Fantasy on my Vita, but I might just restart the game as I haven't gotten very far in it, the save is at the Goblin Highlands in an early chapter so it wouldn't take too long to start from scratch and just speed through the story.

Only game I have 0% in, in fact I just downloaded the game. I enjoyed playing it with its material-based skill trees gatelocking powerful skills and passive abilities. One character is borderline broken as his yo-yo attack does a ton of damage to every enemy on the screen, can't wait to get back there.

 

And yes, I know I have the Kingdom Hearts game for Black, I plan on doing that when I get enough money to take a week in Disneyworld to immerse myself in Disneydom to make the grind a bit better. Yes, that's over 800 bucks, sue me. I want to go somewhere expensive once before I die of old age. (Also I still have no idea of which of the games I want to do; not doing KH3 until I have the confirmation from the Sith that I can clone myself so I am immortal and have all the time in the universe to practice the Re:Mind boss fights. [It's a JOOOKE!!!] )

 

Not going to do Zodiac Age or continue Dragon Quest XI S right away as I want to plan out a better route for them. So, any feedback? (Feel free to send me a PM.)

 

If the spirits guide me to good grind-worthy videos and I succeed in getting half of these games done before Mega Man Battle Network Legacy comes out, I might have time to do a more "quick and dirty" short game color list for a second go.

Yeah, it does have a tint of pink in the background mixed with tan. Those icons tend to be very ambigious on their dominant color.

Time to finally make a tiny amount of progress with this and post up another completion.....

 

I'm still not at the point where I'm stringently planning out games yet, just speculative ones I know I'm likely to play soon and just going with the flow..... I'm indecisive as a swear word beginning with F (yes I know you can use that on the site, I'm just being an idiot )..... So the most likely thing I think I'll add next is probably going to be Tan or Light Blue, depending on which one takes my fancy first.

 

Can I just say, I'm really enjoying seeing all the updates, on the regular, in fact I really ought to just follow the thread, because I've already had plenty of good ideas for colours, of games that are floating around on my backlog, so it's awesome seeing just where some of these could potentially fit in and who is choosing to play what......

 

I'll erm.... be quiet now, and actually go and play some games, to fill out this rainbow a little more ?
