The Ultra Rare Cleanup 2023

 

 

 

Introduction

 

Year 2022 was a good year to grind more Ultra Rare games. Since everyone seems to still enjoy the event (big thank you for that!), me and @Arcesius invite you to also participate in the 2023 edition!!

For the newcomers, you have the chance to flex your skills with those tough-as-nails “sub-5%” completion list* that require significant dedication and/or skill to achieve  

(* Obviously rarity != difficulty.. but UR games are easier to quantify, so Ultra Rare Cleanup it is!)

 

This event will run through the entirety of 2023 starting 1st of January and will end on 31st of December. There will be no deadline for signing up, so feel free to join at any point!

 

Thanks to the helpful feedback we received in 2022, we improved the rules abit this year as well.

General Rules

 

For the purpose of this event, only PSNP trophy rarity is taken into consideration!

 

 ELIGIBLE GAMES FOR THIS EVENT:

 

1. A game is only eligible if it had at least one unobtained UR trophy, be it in the main game or DLC. 
2. Any UR game completed from the moment of registering is eligible. This includes trophies that become ultra rare, as long as you achieved them after you registered.
3. New Games - In case of a new game with an UR trophy, it is allowed if it's still an UR after 1 month of its release.
4. Games with delisted DLC/closed servers : If you really wish to complete a game with server shutdown or delisted DLC, you can do so, but you must have at least one UR trophy in your list.
5. Ultra Rare games that become Very Rare mid-event: If you pick a game that is initially Ultra Rare but becomes Very Rare before you can platinum it, it is still eligible. However, you must announce that the game has become Very Rare in this year (and eventually prove).

 

EVENT STRUCTURE AND RANKINGS:

 

1. In order to sign in....just post a comment in the thread saying that you want to join  
2. You will get one point per completed game. Additional points can be earned via completing the bounties from the MOST WANTED LIST
3. Fully completing the game is MANDATORY! That involves full Platinum + DLC (exception being delisted DLC/closed servers)
4. The event will be split into TIERS, and each tier consists of exactly five (5) games. 
5. There are no limits to the number of tiers that can be added.
6. Once you complete 5 games, you will advance to the next Tier.
7. You can submit your 5 games list at the beginning of the Tier or you can add your games as you complete them. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO CREATE A LIST FOR THIS EVENT(optional)

8. You can swap and switch your list as much as you desire.

9. NEW!! Since there are more and more PS5 list re-releases, autopopping is allowed. However you are not allowed to autopop a Most Wanted game, it will be worth 1 point.
10. No cheating. Self-explanatory, if you are caught cheating you will be eliminated from the event.
11. Be respectful! Pretty self-explanatory, get along with others and all shall be fine and well. Don't, and well...you might be eliminated from the event  
12. Games completed in 2022 do not count for this event.
13. At the end of the event, the person with the most points wins!

 

THE MOST WANTED BOUNTY SYSTEM:

 

1. Similar to the 2022 event, we have picked games that will be worth extra points.
2. You will 
3. There are 4 quarters available in 2023 (3 months each Q) and 10 games per quarter. All of the games are known in advance.
4. Once a quarter has finished, the games on the respective quarter are not eligible for extra points anymore (e.g. if you complete a game from Q1 in Q2, it will be considered a regular game and you will receive 1 point only)
5. You will receive full points if you complete a bounty before it expires, regardless of the bounty's position (e.g. if you complete a Q4 game in Q1 the bounty is eligible).
6. Autopops are not allowed for Most Wanted bounties!
7. If a game becomes Very Rare during the event, it will be replaced from the Bounty list. People who enlisted the game will still get full amount of points, depending on time of completion.

 

ADDITIONAL RULES ADDED:

1. Artificially decreasing a game's rarity is forbidden and will get you removed from the event.
2. A game that perpetually released UR DLCs can be used more than once (e.g. Overwatch 2) as long as the trophies are still UR after 1 month from their release

Will definitely be joining in again for a third year. This is easily my favorite event on the site, although the trophies to fight cancer event is a close 2nd. I’ll edit this post with my tier 1 list when the new year rolls around. I already have a few targets on the most wanted list.

After I was pretty much gone from posting on the forums after last spring, I will definitely try to at least keep up with this thread and both follow what everyone is doing, as well as post regular updates on my part Looking forward to it! 

 

I will make a list a bit later since I still hope to finish 1-2 more games before the end of the year... But unless a miracle happens, Bleed will definitely be on Tier 1 (I have to write this here so there is no way out for me! ). I've taken a long enough break from the game and should definitely go back and finish it. The "miracle" being that I finish it before this year is over, but I very much doubt that ?

Heyo! Just to be clear, the list is completely optional  it's a feat I kept from the old events, a good prevention system in case an UR game becomes Very Rare mid-event.

You can join and only post when you complete an UR game, that is fine by me as well

Having had it explained (in excruciating detail to my feeble mind,) that pre-declaring games is not a requirement, thus the event actually does cater to my whimsical and fickle gaming ways...

 

...allow me to throw my hat into this ring, and sign up!

With the tiers being only 5 games this time, I might actually make it out of the first one by the time a full year is up*!

Thanks a lot for elaborating further, I'll put it this way: @S_y_n_e_IR_g_Ywas the person who got me interested in collecting URs in the first place due to him taking part in these events! Therefore I'm not "officially" participating here, but it's a real pleasure to see the progress of everyone and receive inspiration to try out a few games myself
